This is a action cop buddy movie...sort off.
Casper Van Dein is a cop who quit for personal reasons and Russell Wong is a Cop looking for his kidnapped sister...that is the background Story that the movie is built on.
I Normally like Russell Wong, this is one of his weakest outings, his marshal skills are not used at all, and he gets the brunt of the many stupid lines,Casper fairs only slightly better.
This movie opens strong with a very violent and action packed gun battle, slips to mediocrity for an hour or so,with a few funny lines and a bit of charm sprinkled in between poor diologue and too many close ups of Casper Van D. Then it takes a sudden turn in the last 10 min and manages to come up with a interesting closing act.
All in all I can't recommend the movie but I would not try to stop someone from watching it...I have seen it twice since it came out.

Boundless trouble is soon forthcoming when heroically handsome private eye Connor Spears (Casper Van Dien) and capable Kung Fu cop Rick (Russell Wong) team up to rescue the beautiful Kim (Lexa Doig) from hoodlum kidnappers. Theirs is a volatile partnership since Kim is Rick's beloved sis, and Spear's greatly missed ex! Emotional discords, prodigious squibbage, flinty retorts, bountiful bullet casings, and a flurry of face-flattening fists fly in Jeffrey Alan Schechter explosive underworld-set B-actioner!!! Avid DTV Action fans can expect additional slo-mo death grimaces, hurricanes of heroic bloodshed, cannon fodder cops, a jazzy score, agile, chop sockied beatdowns, choice Alpha Dude posturing, and a bravura bullet-shredded warehouse climax!!!! Packed with more generous thrill-spillage than Erika Eleniak's swimsuit, The Tracker is one of the more notably masculine examples of majestic chin lord Van Dien's entirely respectable noughties action ouvre!!!!
Ok well I enjoyed this movie, it seemed to have everything in it. It had twists plots, and even a bit of a laugh, but still great movie. Casper brings great life into the character, and as always Casper makes the film so much more enjoyable.
The plot is for a pretty basic action-martial arts flick, but the movie ends up being a little below average, I will attempt to explain why. First the plot: A bounty hunter has to help a martial arts instructor (and former friend) find his sister who has been captured by heavily armed thugs, dressed as members of a S.W.A.T Team. This movie features several failed attempts at humor, but its only ever funny when it doesn't mean to be; as one reviewer has already mentioned, there is a scene where the heroes are being followed while in a taxi so they tear off the taxi sign, hoping to throw off the bad guys; what the other viewer didn't mention was that they do it right in front of the car they're trying to lose! There are also lines of dialog such as (slightly paraphrased) "Are my eyes open? I can't believe what I'm hearing." I'm surprised that know one has mentioned the fact that this is a martial arts movie, as the fight scenes are probably the only thing that makes this film tolerable; not that the're the best fights ever filmed, but the're just entertaining enough to keep you watching all the way through. OK, lets see; is there anything else that I would like to add? Nope, I guess not. Goodbye now.
This movie's got to be one of the worst plot-wise that I've seen. The characters are, for most of the movie till the end, pretty dumb. For instance, the good guys tried to lose the car that's following them. So they first took off the medallion off a NYC taxicab, then broke the light. Yeah, that's going to work. Well, it did.
But it's so bad that's it's funny, and the end's quite a surprise. Don't expect what the film-makers behind this one say. Pretend it's a comedy. Don't expect great stuff till the end. It'll be a good ride.
