Excluding the Cambodia training level, this is the first Tomb Raider game where Lara doesn't travel around the world, she travels only in Egypt. Valley of the Kings, Alexandria, Cairo, & Giza are the name of the locations featured throughout the level.
As of June 2014 this is the longest Tomb Raider game, with 38 levels in total.
The character Jean-Yves is in fact a real life person who found the Pharos Lighthouse in Alexandria.
The first Tomb Raider game to not include a T-Rex.
In the previous three games, during the game play the characters' lips won't move but instead have their heads shake whenever they speak. While in this one the characters' lips do move during the game play.
