Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale was controversial even before its release. The issues stemmed from a legal dispute between Nayanthara and Dhanush, who reportedly demanded Inr 10 crores for three seconds of behind-the-scenes footage from the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a film produced by Dhanush. This movie holds a special place in Nayanthara’s life, as it was where she fell in love with its director, Vignesh Shivan. Despite these controversies, the documentary premiered on Netflix on November 18, 2024.

Now, there’s a new twist in the story. Makers of another film have raised a similar issue regarding the 2005 blockbuster Chandramukhi. The filmmakers are taking legal action, claiming that Nayanthara used footage from the movie without obtaining prior permission. They’re now seeking Inr 5 crores in compensation. Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence’s upcoming film ‘Chandramukhi 2’ has been postponed due to “technical delays.” Lyca Productions took to Instagram where they announced that the film will now release on September 28.

The production house shared a video with the new release date and captioned it: “Chandramukhi-2 release date has been pushed to September 28 due to technical delays. Vettaiyan & Chandramukhi will be back fiercer than ever.”

Producer and distributor Listin Stephen has announced that he is planning to make a film with superstar Mohanlal in the lead role. He said that the script is ready and he will soon discuss it with the actor. He also revealed that the film will be a big-budget project and he hopes to start the shooting by next year.

Mm Keeravaani, the Oscar-winning music composer, has shared his experience of working on the music for the upcoming horror film Chandramukhi 2, starring Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut. He said that he had to spend two months of sleepless nights and days to compose the music for the film, which has some mind-blowing scenes.

Chandramukhi 2 is a Tamil horror film directed by P Vasu and produced by Lyca Productions. It is a remake of the Kannada film Apthamitra (2004), which itself was a remake of the Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu (1997). Actor Kartik Aaryan, producer Bhushan Kumar and director Anees Bazmee have reunited for “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” the next instalment of the successful horror-comedy Bollywood franchise.

Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starred in Priyadarshan’s “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” (2007) that means labyrinth, a remake of Fazil’s Malayalam-language film “Manichitrathazhu” (1993), starring Mohanlal and Shobana.

“Manichithrathazhu” was also remade in the Kannada-language as “Apthamitra” (2004), starring Vishnuvardhan, in the Tamil and Telugu languages as “Chandramukhi” (2005), starring Rajinikanth, and in the Bengali language as “Rajmohol” (2005), starring Prosenjit Chatterjee.

“Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,” starring Aaryan and Tabu, was one of the few box office successes in an otherwise forgettable 2022 for Bollywood, earning $33 million. The film cemented Aaryan’s position as one of Bollywood’s A-listers.

The franchise premise turns on a malevolent female spirit haunting a heritage property and the efforts of the protagonist to exorcise it.

“Shehzada,” starring Aaryan and marking his debut as a producer, is currently on release.

If rumours doing the rounds are to be believed, actor Vadivelu will be reprising his immensely popular character, Murugesan, from director P Vasu’s blockbuster “Chandramukhi”, in the upcoming horror comedy “Chandramukhi 2” as well.

The first part of “Chandramukhi”, which was produced by Sivaji Productions as its 50th film in 2005, had Rajinikanth, Prabhu, Jyothika, Nayanthara, Nasser and Vadivelu among others.

A remake of Malayalam super hit “Manichitrathazhu”, it had gone on to emerge as a phenomenal success.

Murugesan, the character that comedian Vadivelu played in the first part, in particular, became very popular.

Now, director P. Vasu, who directed the first part, is making “Chandramukhi 2”, featuring actor Raghava Lawrence in the lead.
