A first version was filmed with Conchita Montenegro, Thomy Bourdelle and Pierre Etchepare in the main roles, but the negative burnt in the fire that destroyed the LTC laboratories in Saint-Cloud, near Paris, in March 1939. The film was completely re-shot with a different cast.
