Whichever way, it isn't all sunshine and rainbows in showbiz, because the entertainment industry knows how to shatter hearts and leave a boulevard of broken dreams in its bloody wake. The good news is that even though the likes of Christian Bale and Margot Robbie thought about calling it a day at a point in their careers, they didn't. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has long wanted to get his hands on Galactus. When 20th Century Fox was close to losing the rights to Daredevil, the executive offered them the chance to keep the Man Without Fear in exchange for the Eater of Worlds and Silver Surfer.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps star and Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic actor Pedro Pascal touched upon the inspiration for Mister Fantastic's stretching power. Pascal brought this subject up in an interview with ComicBook.com, avowing, "With Reed, his body may stretch, but this is a brain character. I guess I'll just give it completely away. Earlier today, Marvel Studios shared an action-packed new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps (you can watch it here). Among the biggest talking points was our first look at Julia Garner's Silver Surfer, a character who has so far caused quite a bit of controversy.

The news that Galactus' Herald would be female wasn't well-received by some fans, even though this is likely Shalla-Bal rather than a gender-swapped Norrin Radd. There's even precedent for a female Surfer on the page, with the Earth X comic - an apparent source of inspiration for filmmaker Matt Shakman - putting her front and centre.

Following the official trailer's debut, several users went on to address the fact that Silver Surfer is (generally) male. "wait what… surfer is a male," wrote one user on X. "The Silver Surfer is a man," added another. A separate one claimed, "Super woke…. This movie will tank."

The first full trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is here and it’s giving fans their first proper look at Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer, warning of the arrival of Galactus.

“Are you the protectors of this world?” she asks as she flies down into the city. “Your planet is now marked for death.”

Naturally, panic ensues, with Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) blaming himself for the incoming threat. Speaking bluntly to the public — who has come to adore the Fantastic Four — Richards admits he really doesn’t know if Earth is safe. But, he and his team vow to protect everyone as best they can.

To add even more stress to things, Reed and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) have recently found out they’re pregnant. But, at least Johnny is pretty stoked to be an uncle.

Shakman and Quinn brought this subject up in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, with Quinn asserting that Johnny is "a man that leads with a lot of bravado, which can be an affront sometimes," but he's also funny. Quinn went on to further note, "Myself and [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin [Feige] were speaking about previous iterations of him and where we are culturally. He was branded as this womanizing, devil-may-care guy, but is that sexy these days? I don't think so.
