Ivani Ribeiro would return to write the remake, A Viagem (1994). It would also be her last work before passing away of diabetes complications in 1995.
Ivani Ribeiro initially planned a direct adaptation of one of Chico Xavier's novels. He then requested a story that featured the Kardecist themes. She consulted with Kardecist professor Herculano Pires while writing the episodes.
Ivani Ribeiro initially turned Ewerton de Castro down for the role of Alexandre, considering him to look "too good" for such an evil role. He was to be cast as Júnior. Castro then put on a fake mustache, stylized his hair, put on a leather jacket, took the character's bike (which he could not ride) and showed up at Ribeiro's house. She gave him the role on the spot.
Cláudio Corrêa e Castro has a cameo on A Viagem (1994) (the remake) as the lawyer defending Alexandre at his trial.
