I loved this show when I was younger, but now after doing a little research it comes to light that the original script for the show was supposed to be about a counter earth where Uncle Ben doesn't die and Spidey gives in to Venom because he doesn't question the morality of his choices anymore.
Why oh why couldn't they have done that instead of doing this whole bestial thing =/ which is alright per se but far less interesting and thought provoking as the original script.
In summary then a good cartoon with great visuals and music but let down by the script revision because Marvel said that it couldn't do a series that contained 2 Spider-Mans but now we have games like Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions, plus I swear in the 90's Spider-Man cartoons they did an episode where there was a crossover of lots of different Spidey universes. Marvel you really missed the mark on something that could have been spectacular.

I'd hadn't seen the show until this morning on ABC Family when I caught the first episode. People had told me it was bad, but I didn't think it was the steaming mess it was.
In a nutshell, Spider-Man goes space truckin' to a counter-Earth to save J. Johan Jameson's astronaut son and hunt down Venom and Carnage. Why Spider-Man would want to hunt down Venom and Carnage after they actively leave the 'real' Earth of their own free will is beyond me. Anyway, this counter-Earth is full of animal/human hybrids like goat men and rat women (cause it ties into the whole *Spider* man thing. eh? eh?).
The animation is better than some shows, but the artists seem to want to have every color in the rainbow in every frame of animation. This only leads to a big, bright mess. The character designs are laughable. The new spider suit is cribbed from the Spider-Man 2099 costume. Venom and Carnage can turn into demon-like monsters or glatinous piles of goo. These two were human last time I checked. The animal people are just plain silly.
Animal people? Space travel? A nanite-based spider suit? I wonder if the reason Stan Lee's name appears nowhere in the credits is because he was the only person to realize that this show isn't what Spider-Man's about? This show seems to mimic the reinvention of Batman a la the WB's 'Batman Beyond.' It fails miserably. The Spider-Man movie's in theaters if you want to see your down-on-his-luck, wise-cracking, Aunt-May-wheatcake-lovin' webslinger. Skip this show unless you're looking for a laugh.

I never write reviews, but I had to add my 2 cents to this show, btw this will be spoiler free. I've seen a few different Spider-Man shows while growing up, the amazing Spider-Man, spectacular Spider-Man ect, but nothing of that had this much ambition behind it. The story for this show was quiet unique and honestly quiet refreshing from what I've seen before. Like other reviews on this show, yes, it's plot had a few holes in it, but given another season or so, I believe this show could have really blossomed into something very memorable for the fans. New villains and old set in a alternative world of his own, Spider-Man had to overcome and adapt while keeping his identity hidden as always. I really enjoyed the 13 episodes we were blessed with, very nostalgic 90's colours, music and animation. Rip unlimited, hope it gets a revamp somewhere down the line.
Spider-Man Unlimited is an okay show but compared to the previous Fox Kids show that started back in 1995, it sucks. The show before was true to the comics. They may have bended them a little, but it was the same old costume and same villians. This show lacks the magic that made the other series so special. The costume is kind of cool and the story line is original and inventive, but I'll take Spider-Man (1995) over this any day.
Spider-Man Unlimited is a good show on its own... good original storylines, decent animation, but it's not the Spider-Man I know from reading the comics.
While there are some familiar faces, they don't always show their face, leaving our poor webhead to make friends with some new faces, who vaguely resemble some characters from the comics.
I'm not going to bash this cartoon because it doesn't follow the roots of which it came from. It's a good show, but it would have been a better show if Spidey ditched the hi-tech crap and stuck with his basic web shooters and proportionate spider strength.
