Wonderful modern version of the bible story of Joseph, the lost son

This is a wonderful modern version of the bible story of Joseph, the lost son. The symbolic meaning of the bible story is well kept. It's a fantastic bible story that shows the power of forgiving. This movie is intelligently played with strong acting and with a good director feeling for atmosphere. I love this movie in its own.

A Must See.....

Wonderful!!! Heartwarming, compelling, sweet and a just plain good story. The writing was very well done, the acting believable. Never a dull moment. Very sincere. Even though I know the biblical account of Joseph very well, this portrayal kept you guessing what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this. The gentleman who played 'Joseph' did a fine job of portraying the favored son. I found his attempts to reach out to his brothers heart-wrenching. The father was excellent as the patriarch of the family. They did not portray him as 'perfect', but he obviously loved all of his sons. The twist in how they got rid of Joseph was very good. The brothers also did a fine job. They did not portray them as complete villains. It was an interesting piece. I'd like to see more...

Awe-inspiring Drama

I've been watching a lot of movies as of late, and so it's very difficult for one to stand out amongst the others. So to say that I watched Joseph's Gift on the same day as three other movies and it's the only one I remember, that's saying something.

Joseph's Gift is a modern retelling of the classic Joseph bible story, but the film is never preachy, overly-melodramatic, or sentimental. The film's hauntingly subdued aura is courtesy of two things mainly: Phillipe Mora's keen understanding of his source material, and the devastating performance of Freddy Rodriguez in the title part.

Do yourself a favor: Watch Joseph's Gift today. It's an experience you won't soon forget.

Awesome Family Friendly Movie and NOT Boring

This movie really restored my hope for Christian/faith based movies. The modern spin on an OLD story made the movie even more believable. For once the writing was INTELLIGENT and the acting MORE than Bearable. The acting was ACTUALLY good. Man I am so happy that I got a chance to watch this hidden treasure of cinematic Christian splendor. This story of Joseph was told in a way that I would have never thought and it proved more relevant because of it. No, it is not the latest movie but stand this next to big movie releases like The Gospel and Joseph's Gift makes the others look like they are unsaved. Great work by the entire production and writing team. The Father is well pleased!

Wrong Religion

The story of Joseph appears in Genesis and both he and his family are Jewish. Looks like he converted in this movie by celebrating Christmas and having his brothers act like Mafia thugs. Creative license I guess.
