Cleopatra 2525 (2000)

Trivia

Cleopatra 2525

Edit
After Jack, le vengeur masqué (2000) was canceled, Cleopatra 2525 episodes became longer in order to fill its runtime. In all, six episodes of season 2 (the last six of the series) were increased to a 45 minute runtime.
The theme song is a remix of the old hit by Zager and Evans, "In the Year 2525", originally recorded in 1969. It is frequently thought to have been sung by series star Gina Torres, but was not (as clarified by her at a panel discussion at Fan Expo 2013.)
Lucy Lawless originally played Voice in the pilot, but due to scheduling conflicts the character was finally played by Elizabeth Hawthorne. The pilot was eventually broadcast as episode 'Home' and Voice was re-dubbed.
Filmed and made in Auckland, New Zealand.
Originally the producers had planned to make the show "Amazon High", which has a young woman (played by Monica McSwain) who went back in time, but that version of the show didn't make it beyond the pilot, although the footage was later recycled for the Xena, la guerrière (1995) episode "Lifebood". The producers then twisted the original concept and came up with "Cleopatra 2525".
