Front Row Filmed Entertainment has acquired global distribution rights for anthology film Disorder exploring Lebanon’s recent tumultuous years through the eyes of four directors.
The picture, which is due to premiere at Egypt’s El Gouna Film Festival later this month, brings together Lebanese writers and directors Lucien Bourjeily (Heaven Without People), Bane Fakih (Keep It Together), Wissam Charaf, and Areej Mahmoud (Beirut 6:07).
The launch comes as the global spotlight is on Lebanon due to the flare-up in the conflict between Israel and Shiite Muslim political party and militant group Hezbollah, which has resulted in close to 2,000 deaths, and also displaced more than 350,000 people over the last two weeks.
The feature is curated and produced Bechara Mouzannar under the banner of Unbranded, in collaboration with Nadine Labaki and Khaled Mouzanar who take executive producer credits. The trio previously collaborated on Labaki’s 2018 film Capernaum

You never know who will join Chris Martin onstage at a Coldplay concert! During the group’s show in Zurich Sunday, tennis legend Roger Federer joined the band to play the shaker during “Don’t Panic.”
Martin welcomed the tennis star onstage as “our original band member,” jokingly referring to a percussionist who joined the band but left after three months at the beginning of the band’s career.
“The band is back together,” he quipped before they performed the opening track on the group’s 2000 album Parachutes.

While the titular sharks steal the spotlight in Meg 2: The Trench, there are plenty of recognizable stars in the movie's cast, including returning icons Jason Statham and Cliff Curtis and exciting new additions like Wu Jing and Skyler Samuels. When it was released in 2018, The Meg was a surprise hit with audiences, grossing more than $530 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo), so a sequel was a no-brainer. This time, instead of contending with just one megalodon — and later an even bigger one — like Statham did in the first movie, Meg 2 sees him taking on a bunch of megalodons as they begin hunting in packs.
Based on Steve Alten’s 1999 novel The Trench, which is the second installment of his Meg series, the sequel was written by the returning trio of Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, and Dean Georgaris. Replacing the original's director, Jon Turteltaub, and making his big-budget blockbuster debut,...

Zach Braff's 2004 coming-of-quarter-age film "Garden State" was met with warm acceptance upon its release. The general critical consensus seemed to be that Braff took a lot of the insecurities and anxieties of being in your mid-20s, and spun it into a moody, soulful rendition for a new generation.
Shortly after its release, however, "Garden State" was held up as an ur example of an unfortunate emerging character type: The Manic Pixie Dream Girl. The actual phrase was coined by critic Nathan Rabin in his description of Cameron Crowe's 2005 film "Elizabethtown," reviewed in his book "My Year of Flops." The Mpdg character was a seemingly perfect, often impish and energetic female, usually written specifically to drag a mopey male character out of the doldrums of their own personal drama. They were a therapist, a love object, and a prize all at once, and the character type was appearing with increasing ubiquity.

After viewing horror for decades (watch yer tongue), it just dawned on me how little truck international pictures – especially low budget horror – hold for purity of subgenre. Case in point: Mexico’s Cemetery of Terror (1985); a film set up as a Halloween clone, except Michael is a serial killer Satanist, and then it becomes a zombie film, and a kid’s flick that’s also really gory. All this, and Hugo Stiglitz to boot! They’re not wrong, of course; why have less genres when you can have more? It’s also stupidly fun.
Released in July Stateside with a homeland release the following December, Cemetery of Terror all but came and went, and I don’t even remember this thing in video stores.
But enough about VHS statistics from the ‘80s; let’s talk about this ultimately somewhat unique batfuckery of a film: As every horror should, we open...

We have one last group of horror and sci-fi home media releases arriving before we say goodbye to January, and I hope your wallets are prepared for just how many killer releases are heading home this weekend, because there’s a lot of great titles that are arriving this Tuesday.
In terms of new genre projects, Synchronic from Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as well as Come Play are both headed to Blu-ray and DVD, and if the release of the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer this weekend got you hyped for some kaiju action, Arrow Video is showing some love to Gamera this week with two different limited edition sets: Gamera: The Heisei Era and Gamera: The Showa Era. Since my all-time favorite TV series is "The Honeymooners", the legendary sitcom that was originally broadcast in 1950s, one might think I would have been overjoyed at the prospect of seeing the show's new incarnation as a big-budget musical production that just premiered at the prestigious Papermill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, a venue so revered that it was honored with a special Tony award. In reality, I had considerable trepidation about seeing the show. The characters in the TV series- bus driver Ralph Kramden, his devoted but long-suffering wife Alice and their best friends, sewer worker Ed Norton and his wife Trixie- have been ingrained in the minds of every American baby boomer. In fact, the re-runs have rarely left the New York airwaves even sixty years after their original airings and the four main cast members- Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows, Art Carney and Joyce Randolph...

Star Wars, Terminator 2, Fantastic Beasts and more: they all have scenes in the trailer, that never made the final film...
More often than you might think, scenes that appear in movie trailer don’t turn up in the finished film. This can leave trailer-loving audience members confused as the credits roll, wondering if they dropped off and missed something important.

A couple of massive movies have done this recently, and the internet has been quick to fill in the blanks with speculation. Fingers have been pointed at tinkering studio bigwigs and extensive reshoots, when the reality is often a little less dramatic: filmmakers always chop some footage in the edit, and they rarely have much involvement in the trailers.

The Five Deadly Venoms is a martial arts classic, that comes with one of the best opening sequences we've seen...
You don't need to do much more than whisper "I had five pupils..." to send shivers up the spines of most martial arts fans. It's a line that kicks off one of the most dazzling opening sequences in the history of cinema, as the dying Master of the Poison Clan explains to his sixth and final pupil that there were five more before him, each trained in a unique fighting style.
The Five Deadly Venoms wear masks that hide their identity and represent their particular style. There's the Centipede, the Snake, the Scorpion, the Lizard and the Toad, and the ways in which they fight draw from each animal's characteristics. As the Master explains, Centipede and Snake know one another's identity, as do Lizard and Toad. None of the others know Scorpion.

The new take on Dad's Army gives a standout role to Toby Jones. Here's our review of the new comedy.
Don't panic! Oliver Parker's big screen version of classic British sitcom Dad's Army (48 years old this year) is remarkably faithful to Jimmy Perry and David Croft's much-loved original and by no means the travesty that some had feared. It benefits chiefly from a note-perfect cast and a warm glow of reverential nostalgia that pervades the entire project, but it's slightly let down by a meandering script and the playing-it-safe comedy moments tend to generate amused smiles rather than out-and-out laughter.
Set in 1944, in the fictional seaside town of Walmington-on-Sea, the film stars Toby Jones as Captain Mainwaring, the leader of an elderly platoon of the Home Guard that comprises Oxford-educated Sergeant Wilson (Bill Nighy), doddery Private Godfrey (Michael Gambon), excitable Lance Corporal Jones (Tom Courtenay...

Don't panic. Moesha just premiered 20 Years Ago. That's all. At least Brandy pretty much looks the same now as she did when she played the titular teen, which is also why it's such a mind-boggle when you realize how long ago the multifaceted Upn sitcom—one of the network's biggest all-time hits—was on the air. Upn is no more (remember when Buffy and friends made the move to the brand-new CW?) but fond memories of the smart show that wasn't afraid to tackle some serious issues—drugs, teen sex and pregnancy, race relations and more—live on. And going through the archives, we couldn't help but be tickled when we saw all the familiar faces who were such big deals...

A recent Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision is good news for filmmakers who want to rely on the fair use doctrine to include materials in their own work without obtaining permission. Stephanie Lenz is a mom who posted a 29-second amateur video onto YouTube (see above) of her children dancing in her kitchen while the Prince song "Let's Go Crazy" played in the background. The song was audible for about 20 seconds. Lenz did not attempt to obtain a license for use of the music. Read More: Attention, Documentary Filmmakers: Don't Panic About Fair Use After Prince's publisher, Universal Music Group, became aware of the video, it sent YouTube a takedown notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (Dmca) claiming that the video infringed Prince's copyright. YouTube removed the video and notified Lenz of its removal and the alleged infringement of Prince's song. Lenz then sent YouTube a counter-notification, which included a statement made under.

Given his behavior on this week's episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, it's no surprise that Scott Disick checked into rehab a few months later.
While girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian was 37 weeks pregnant with their third child, Disick accompanied Kris Jenner to her 59th birthday bash at 1 Oak in Las Vegas.
Before they left for the event, Jenner admitted that she was "worried" about Disick: "He always gets into a bunch of trouble. My biggest fear is he takes 12 steps backwards and really falls off the wagon."
"You're going to have three little children at home very soon, under the age of 5," Jenner told Disick.

Don't panic though, they won't be suiting up and sqauring off just yet... The two Marvel Studios actors have been trash talking each other on Twitter, with their friendship put on hold until one of their beloved teams are crownded the champions two weeks from now. Things will go wrong on an indie film set. As a producer, or anyone in a leadership role, the key to solving problems is: Don't Panic! This was pivotal for me as a new producer on the set of "Tar Pit" (2015). Potential disasters came at me a mile a minute, but recalling this simple rule allowed me to move (most of) them swiftly aside—even on that day in June of 2014 when we shot "Tar Pit"'s last gun battle at an absolutely revolting pig farm and slaughtering field deep in the country of northern New York state. Hot, dusty air carried the stink of rotting pig carcasses over junked trailers, over putrid milk feeding troughs, over masses of hogs, living and dead. It was a location that director and seasoned indie filmmaker, the brilliant J. Christian Ingvordsen, had arranged for our crime drama. Our gifted Dp and screenwriter Matthew Howe was unfazed.
