Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 was the big winner at Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards in Tokyo over the weekend, taking the top-prize anime of the year honor and triumphing in 10 additional categories, including best director, best character design, best action and best cinematography. The best film prize went to Mokoto Shinkai’s anime blockbuster Suzume, while Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc won several key categories, such as best animation and best fantasy.
The annual awards show, now in its eighth year, selects leading achievements in Japanese animation across a broad range of categories and picks the winners via a global popular vote. Barbie music producer Mark Ronson isn’t here for Bill Maher’s take on Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar hit.
Ronson, who oversaw the Barbie soundtrack album and also co-produced and co-wrote several of the movie’s standout songs, including “I’m Just Ken,” took to social media on Tuesday to share his thoughts on the talk show host calling the movie “preachy, man-hating and a #ZombieLie.”
“We come to this place for magic,” Ronson posted on X, imitating Nicole Kidman’s infamous ad. “We come to AMC theaters to laugh, to cry, to care…and to furiously google ‘mattel board configuration’ while others are trying to enjoy a f***king magnificent comedy.”
Ronson, who won an Academy Award in 2019 for best original song, was reacting to Maher’s four-paragraph posting on X on Wednesday. The Real Time host writing that Barbie ended up being what he expected, even though he hoped it wouldn’t be.

Aaron Sorkin has found his Broadway follow-up to To Kill A Mockingbird: The West Wing creator will pen a new book for the classic Lerner & Loewe musical Camelot.
The Lincoln Center Theater revival of the 1960 musical will reunite Sorkin and Mockingbird director Bartlett Sher, with previews set to begin at Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater on Thursday, November 3, with an opening night of Thursday, December 8. Casting and design team will be announced later.
In announcing the project today, Lincoln Center Theater described “a new version of the classic tale” and said the musical will be “reimagined for the 21st century.” Sorkin’s new book will be based on the original by Alan Jay Lerner.
