Good for a Bruceplotation film

"Mission For The Dragon" (or as it is called on IMDb, Rage of the Dragon) is actually one of the better Bruceplotation films which flooded Hong Kong cinema in the late 70s after Bruce Lee's death. The basic plot is familiar to anyone who has seen more than about four martial arts films. A kung fu student, here played by Dragon Lee, finds out that his father has been murdered, and so trains a little harder and sets out to avenge his death. Carter Wong, who starred in the "18 Bronzemen" plays the chief villain and it's not really a spoiler to say as with all films of the genre it ends with a climatic fight between the two leads.

It doesn't come close to the brilliance of Bruce Lee, or even the early work of Jackie Chan, but there is enough fighting to keep an easily amused viewer occupied for 80 odd minutes.

Godfrey said to Moses "All kung fu guys got shoes"

This Godfrey Ho film is so action packed that he don't even have time to flash the THE END sign at the end before the last bad guy has hit the ground. HEAR ME AND MY MESSAGE as an acolyte for the church of HO! Yep, I have started a religion around the God and founder of the ninja film our eternal golden ninja warrior his most behest Godfrey Ho. This one involves some guy doing grave robbing who gets himself killed and therefore all those folks he begat go out blaming each other for this death, leading to the double crosses and a furious fast and bulbous cauldron of never ending kung fu madness.

As this film was created by our ever loving Lord and High Master Godfrey Ho, we can expect a certain element of insanity that only reflects our own approach to the external life. In this film it takes formation in the form of insane sounding 'specific' sound effects regarding each martial arts champions 'moves'. Mostly this takes effect in the form of crazy moog squeaks. You'll know it when you hear.

Perhaps in the grand scheme of our Lord Godfrey's plan this one isn't so full of our Lord's quirks, this one is still full of non-stop action and therefore is included in our canon of '143 movements of the kung fu' cross.

Verily, for it has been foretold in the book of Billy Barron. Lest we all receive a kick to the face.

Amen.
