‘Couture’ Review: Angelina Jolie Gives Sad Glamour in a Leaden Fashion Drama
Image
Fashion is a serious business. It makes people billions of dollars a year, it influences culture in myriad overt and subliminal ways. But when covered on film, this haute world is typically skewered, in sophisticated satires like Robert Altman’s “Pret-a-Porter” and absurdist comedies like “Zoolander.” Credit to French director Alice Winocour, then, that she approaches her country’s perhaps most iconic industry with near total earnestness in the new film, “Couture.”

The film, like Altman’s, is a collection of intersecting storylines, all converging on an elaborate Paris Fashion Week show. Angelina Jolie plays a woman, Maxine, who is new to the atelier scene, an indie-horror director who’s flown from America to Paris to shoot a short film that will accompany the models as they take to the runway. Anyier Anei is Ada, a newbie model from South Sudan by way of Kenya, wide-eyed and hungry as...

The Time Giorgio Armani Randomly Popped Up in an ‘SNL’ Cold Open
Image
It’s been reported that iconic Italian designer Giorgio Armani has passed away at the age of 91, leaving behind a fashion empire worth “over $10 billion,” in no small part thanks to the suits that are definitely worth the price of a bowl of soup.

Even though he was a major celebrity, and famous for clothing A-list Hollywood actors, Armani rarely showed up in movies and TV shows (unlike all the attention-hungry celeb designers who cameoed in Zoolander).

In fact, Armani’s only acting credit on IMDb is a brief appearance on Saturday Night Live way back in 1993. The episode wasn’t hosted by Armani, but rather, late Beverly Hills, 90210 star Luke Perry.

Ben Stiller Opens Up About Loving His Time on Forgotten 80s Brat Pack Flop
Image
Ben Stiller considered Fresh Horses as a breakout film despite its box office flop. He said making the movie "was the dream" because he got to hang out with Pretty in Pink stars Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald.

1988's Fresh Horses brought back fond memories for Stiller, who described the film as a career-defining experience. "I was like, 'Oh man, I'm going to be in the Brat Pack. I'm going to be in the movies, just, this is it. This is my moment,'" he told The Prof G With Scott Galloway podcast. Fresh Horses was released on the heels of Pretty in Pink, which featured two of the brightest stars of that decade,...

7. Celebrity (1998)

Directed by Woody Allen, Celebrity was a film that featured numerous celebrities portraying themselves. The film acted as a see-through glass for audiences who could have a look at what goes on inside Hollywood.

‘The Citizen Kane–Drumline–Severance shared universe’: The secret history of Choreography and Merriment
Image
At this point, Tramell Tillman can’t grab a coffee without a marching band falling into formation behind him.

The actor, whose remarkable performance on Season 2 of Severance earned him an Emmy nomination and a million memes, fronted one of the most viral moments of the 2025 season, as his frazzled middle manager Seth Milchick introduced the world to Lumon Industries' Choreography and Merriment department.

Since the band-jammed season finale “Cold Harbor” began streaming in March, Tillman and his trusty regiment have been spotted at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and most recently at a Los Angeles screening of Zoolander to fete Severance executive producer and director Ben Stiller. Tillman readily admits that,...

It was revealed recently that Stiller, who directed five episodes of Severance season 2, will not be directing any episodes of season 3. Stiller previously claimed that this was because of his busy schedule. Severance season 3 is currently in development, but does not have a release date yet. A Young Seth Rogen Thought Ben Stiller Was ‘So Old’ When They Met
Image
In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Apple TV+ ingenues Seth Rogen and Ben Stiller discussed everything from their hit shows to their careers in comedy prior to their current TV success. Stiller is the director and executive producer of Severance, while Rogen is the star and executive producer of The Studio. Both shows picked up numerous Emmy nominations this season.

But long before prestige TV came into play, Stiller and Rogen had their fair share of hits and duds (Zoolander 2). “Is there a meet-cute origin story for when you guys met? Do you remember when you first met each other?” Horowitz asked the pair.

In a red carpet interview with E! News, Stiller, who serves as an executive producer and director on Apple TV+’s hit series Severance, said he would be open to doing a Star Trekmovie. Awards Magnet: Emmy contenders to voters — ‘We’re doing it live!’
Image
Live from, well, everywhere — it's FYC mania. The weekend before final Emmy voting began was awash in special events where contenders could make their last-minute pitch to TV Academy members before all those empty ballots got filled up with votes. The Gold Derby crew was out in force for many of those events, including the newest kid on the block, Televerse, a three day shindig hosted by the TV Academy itself. And while the mood at the event was largely upbeat, let's just say there were some first year hiccups when it came to logistics.

Two of the Awards Magnet trio attended Televerse in person and share their thoughts on...

The Dink Cast Brings Back One Severance Quitter but Not as Its Big Boss
Image
Apple TV+ announced The Dink, which brings along Severance director Ben Stiller as one of the main cast. Stiller announced that he will not direct the show’s highly anticipated Season 3. Following this, he landed a sports-comedy project, The Dink, directed by Josh Greenbaum.

The Dink’s story revolves around a washed-up tennis professional named Johnson. In a desperate attempt to save a struggling club and earn his father’s respect, he is forced to do something he considers unthinkable: play pickleball. The film features a cast that includes Ben Stiller, Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Harris.

Ben Stiller Takes Shot at ‘Zoolander 2’ During Film Screening Appearance
Image
It’s no secret that Ben Stiller isn’t proud of Zoolander 2. The sequel was a guest star-filled mess, and it premiered to horrible reviews from audiences and critics alike. It also completely bombed at the box office. When he spoke about the film’s terrible performance on David Duchovny’s podcast back in 2024, he said the failure of the film “completely blindsided” him.

“It really freaked me out because I was like, ‘I didn’t know it was that bad?’” Stiller said at the time. “What scared me the most on that one was, l’m losing what I think what’s funny, questioning yourself. … On Zoolander 2, it was definitely blindsiding to me. And it definitely affected me for a long time.”

“I thought everybody wanted this,” he continued. “And then it’s like, ‘Wow, I must have really fucked this up. Everybody didn’t go to it.

Ben Stiller is taking a major step back from Severance season 3
Image
Now, as the Apple series pushes forward and strives to make the wait a much shorter one for fans when it comes to the third season, something shocking has been revealed: Ben Stiller will not be directing any of the third season of Severance.

As confirmed by The Wrap, Stiller is stepping away from the project to tackle a new challenge, in the form of a World War II survival movie that he has been prepping for years. As he details, “I’m at this point in my life where I’m like, ‘The clock is ticking.’ Sixty sounds old. It’s hard to get around it. And of course it’s that other thing of, like, you know what the next one is… ‘Oh, shit.’”

While he will still be involved in Severance’s third season as an executive producer, Stiller is stepping away from being as much of...

Zoolander & Severance Crossover Surprises Fans At Screening
Image
Ben Stiller and Tramell Tillman surprised Zoolander fans with a fun Severance crossover. The 2001 comedy stars Stiller as a fashion model, Derek Zoolander, who is tricked into killing the minister of Malaysia. The movie, which Stiller co-wrote and directed, grossed over $60 million against a $28 million production budget, leading to a sequel with an even wilder plot.

Years later, Stiller executive-produced and directed several episodes of the Apple TV sci-fi series, Severance, which explores the technology to separate a person's work memory from personal memory. The series' star-studded cast features Adam Scott as Mark, Britt Lower as Helly R., Christopher Walken as Burt, and Tillman as Milchick.

Per Variety, at the Cinespia Zoolander screening, Stiller and Tillman made a surprise appearance. Stiller took the stage in character as Derek and thanked the audience for showing up at Zoolander 2's nine-year anniversary screening before his introduction was interrupted by Tillman's marching band.

Ben Stiller & Tramell Tillman Make Surprise Appearance at 'Zoolander' Screening
Image
Ben Stiller is being joined by one of the stars of Severance at a special screening of Zoolander!

The 59-year-old actor surprised fans at Cinespia’s screening of Zoolander at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on Saturday (August 16). Ben surprised the audience by coming out to introduce his 2001 comedy dressed in a black shirt and while doing his best impression of his character from the movie.

While Ben was cracking jokes about the screening, he was interrupted by a second surprise. Severance star Tramell Tillman surprised the audience by leading a performance by the USC marching band.

The performance was a reference to the surreal marching band sequence featured in the season 2 finale of the Apple TV+ series, produced by Ben and starring Tramell.

Ben played along and requested that the actor play a Zoolander song rather than a Severance one, to which Tramell changed things up and...

For Your Competition: Studios and streamers heat up Emmys Phase 2 with headline-grabbing stunts
Image
The closer the race, the cleverer the campaigns.

With more than a few Emmy categories too close to call, studios are leaving no stone unturned in an effort to grab voters’ attention before ballots post on Monday. Beyond the usual roundtables, interviews, podcasts, and schmooze-fests, Emmy mania kicked into overdrive this weekend, which was jampacked with events.

Of course there was Televerse, the Television Academy’s first-ever festival in phase two, finally allowing networks their long-sought-after desire to get their nominated talent directly in front of voters. Over the course of three days at the J.W. Marriott L.A. Live, shows like The Studio, The Pitt, Paradise and more trotted out their talent for Q&As, along with photo ops like SNL’s "Weekend Update" desk.

Here are some of the other FYC highlights we spotted:

Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, and James Gandolfini Starred in $30M Box-Office Bomb – Watch or Pass?
Image
When Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, and James Gandolfini signed on to a big-budget comedy, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, about dueling magicians in Las Vegas, it sounded like box office magic. Carell was fresh off The Office, Carrey was returning to the over-the-top physical comedy that made him a star, and Gandolfini, our forever Tony Soprano, was trying something different in one of his final roles. Add Steve Buscemi to the mix, and Warner Bros. must have felt like they had a sure hit.

Instead, the movie became one of 2013’s most spectacular failures. Despite a $30 million budget, it made only $27 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo). Critics dismissed it as predictable, and audiences largely ignored it. What should have been a flashy comedy turned into a box-office bomb that many barely noticed, a kind of Vegas-flavored Zoolander, only without the quotable lines or cult following.

But here we are, nearly a decade later.

Ben Stiller and Adam Scott Never Thought ‘Severance’ Would Be a Hit: ‘Are We Going to Be Made Fun Of?’ | Visionaries
Image
“Severance” star Adam Scott could have felt any number of things after seeing the first billboard for the Apple TV+ series that featured his face front-and-center: elation, pride, excitement for this project he’d spent months working on to get out into the world.

Instead, his psyche took him to a bit more of a panicked state: “Oh s–t,” he thought.

Television hadn’t quite seen something like “Severance” before, and it hasn’t quite seen something like it since. A slow-boiling dystopian sci-fi drama set in the confines of a bright, sterile office? Innies? Outies? Patricia Arquette gone grey?

Scott, who also serves as executive producer on the series and is Emmy-nominated for the second time this year for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, relished the opportunity to be in what Stiller called a creative “bubble” while creating Season 1. But he soon enough realized that there...

Ben Stiller and Tramell Tillman Crash Zoolander Screening With a Severance Marching Band
Ben Stiller
Ben Stiller and Tramell Tillman surprised a sold-out crowd at Cinespia’s outdoor screening of Zoolander on Saturday, leading the USC marching band onto the Hollywood Forever Cemetery stage before the film began. The cameo nodded to the Season 2 finale of their Apple TV+ drama Severance, which features Tillman’s character orchestrating a surreal, celebratory band sequence inside Lumon Industries. After Stiller’s introduction, the band shifted into a rendition of “Relax,” a musical wink to Zoolander’s soundtrack.

The stunt extended a thread that has followed the series on the publicity trail. Earlier this year, Tillman described initial hesitation about tackling the marching-band choreography on the show until Stiller convinced him the scale would make it distinct from the first season’s “Music Dance Experience.” He later embraced the bit at an industry event by leading the USC band in person, a precursor to Saturday’s appearance.

The timing...

Ben Stiller, Tramell Tillman Make Surprise Appearance At Cinespia ‘Zoolander’ Screening
Image
Ben Stiller, Tramell Tillman and co. brought choreography and merriment with a surprise appearance at Cinespia’s screening of Zoolander last night.

The Severance director/EP took to the stage at the outdoor screening series to introduce the showing of the 2001 comedy satire film at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, before being upstaged by the USC Marching Band led by star Tillman.

“Thank you all for coming,” Stiller began in his signature Zoolander accent, per video captured at the event.

Continuing, he deliberately mispronounced the name of the event: “I’d like to thank all of the people at Cinesipia for having the courage to have the first-ever nine-year anniversary screening of Zoolander 2! What? Zoolander 1? Ok, cool. Well, I hope you really enjoy it and don’t get freaked out by all those creepy, gross dead people under there.”

Tillman led the famed university ensemble along with the USC Song Girls, donning a sparkling red jacket and the staff his character Mr. Milchick utilized in a much-memed critical dance scene in the Severance Season 2 finale.

“Thanks for coming. That’s cool, you got the USC Marching Band with you? Really cool,” Stiller said to audience cheers. “That’s great, but this is kind of more like a Zoolander thing than a Severance thing. Maybe you guys could play more of a Zoolander-y type of song?”

The team then launched into a jaunty rendition of “Relax” by Powerman 5000, a track featured in the movie. Afterward, Tillman and Stiller were seen embracing as the lights went down and the screening began.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Cinespia creative director Navid Sinaki spoke to the cultural and communal relevance of the series among Angelenos: “Even to me, having worked there for 10 years, it’s strange when I tell people that the cemetery is my happy place,” he said. “But truly, there’s a bit of, not just escapism, because that belittles how beautiful the experience is, but it is a transformative experience being there, watching a film, partying with people beforehand, just because there’s a palpable warmth and the energy is electric.”

This summer, Cinespia has screened such films as Showgirls, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Casablanca, Top Gun, La La Land, It, Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion and The Addams Family, and throughout the years has featured guest appearances from the cast and creatives behind the projects shown. The organization also recently announced its lineup for Halloween.

‘Severance’ Star Tramell Tillman Crashes ‘Zoolander’ Screening – With a Marching Band
Image
Ben Stiller was on hand to greet a sold-out crowd attending a “Zoolander” screening at Hollywood Cemetery Saturday night — and he was joined by “Severance” star Tramell Tillman, who showed up with the University of Southern California’s marching band in tow.

Tillman and the band recreated the actor’s now-iconic “Severance” season two finale dance before shifting to a rendition of “Relax” in honor of Stiller’s 2001 film. The performance deftly stitched together two of Stiller’s most beloved offerings to date.

“Severance” has been a runaway hit for Stiller and Apple TV+ and is the most-nominated Emmy series this year with 27 nods (including Outstanding Drama; Lead Actor for Adam Scott; Lead Actress for Britt Lower; Directing for Ben Stiller and Jessica Lee Gagné; and Writing for Dan Erickson).

Tillman stars as Mr. Milchick, the show’s chief antagonist.

“The Music Dance Experience [in Season 1] was so iconic, and I loved how people embraced that moment,...

Ben Stiller and Tramell Tillman Make Surprise ‘Severance’ Introduction At Cinespia ‘Zoolander’ Screening
Image
Ben Stiller and Tramell Tillman made surprise appearances at Cinespia’s screening of “Zoolander” on Aug. 16 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Before the outdoor showing of the 2001 comedy classic, Stiller— who co-wrote, directed, and stars in the film—came out on stage to introduce the movie. Shortly thereafter, the USC marching band, led by Tillman, paraded out in a homage to the two stars’ latest project: “Severance.”

At 8:30, after guests had arrived at the cemetery to opening performances from DJ Daisy O’Dell and emcee Love Bailey, Cinespia Founder John Wyatt took the stage to welcome the crowd. Before the feature presentation, though, he surprised the audience by bringing out Stiller.

Stiller came out in character, thanking the audience and Cinespia as Derek Zoolander. “Thank you all for coming,” he said in the character’s signature stilted voice, “I’d like to thank the people at Cinespia for having the courage to have,...

Liam Neeson
According to Liam Neeson (and the past several years of film releases), comedy at the cinema is dying. Back in my day, you couldn’t last the school day without hearing people talk about films like Tommy Boy, Airheads, Wayne’s World, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Coneheads, The Big Lebowski, Napoleon Dynamite, and more. Those days are steadily going the way of the dodo. However, in a new PSA, Liam Neeson says you can help save the genre by showing your support for The Naked Gun, coming to theaters on August 1, 2025.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Naked Gun:

“Only one man has the particular set of skills… to lead Police Squad and save the world! Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson) follows in his father’s footsteps in The Naked Gun, directed by Akiva Schaffer and from producer Seth MacFarlane. Joining the cast are Pamela Anderson,...

NewsRadio Cast: Where The Actors Are Today
Image
Although there were plenty of '90s sitcoms set in the workplace, "NewsRadio" stands out as one of the best and most underrated of these. It revolved around the team at a second-rate Am radio station in New York City, with an anything-goes approach that saw the show embrace everything from broad physical comedy and rapid-fire quipping to satire and more outlandish surrealism. "NewsRadio" ran for five seasons, airing on NBC from 1995 to 1999 and surviving even the tragic death of one of its main cast members.

Unlike many other workplace sitcoms, there's remarkably little turnover from an ensemble perspective -- "NewsRadio" had a small group of actors that made up its news station, and the majority of them stuck with the show for its entire runtime. That speaks to both the quality of "NewsRadio" and what a positive working experience it fostered. Although it isn't the most widely known television show from the '90s,...

Labor Day weekend will offer two decidedly different film favorites for audiences. First up on August 30 is “The Princess Bride,” Rob Reiner’s hilarious fairytale that takes Cary Elwes’ Westley and Robin Wright’s Buttercup on a rollicking adventure that also includes Mandy Patinkin,...

Sign of Change: How Marlee Matlin Redefined Acting and Disability in Hollywood
Image
Sensitivity Warning: This article explores the evolving conversations around representation in Hollywood, including historically harmful practices of casting today. Its purpose is to reflect on where we’ve been- and where we’re going. The Question The most recent use of blackface in an American film I can think of is in ‘Tropic Thunder,’ where it’s deployed in a genius twist of satire: a white, Australian method actor (played by Robert Downey Jr.) undergoes a pigment-altering surgery to play an African-American man. To this day, the comedy catches major flack- arguably more flack than the character receives within the world of the movie- essentially being derided for what some argue is the fundamental reprehensibility of blackface, even when used as a device to mock the offensive practice itself. Alternatively, blackface has been employed metatextually, for the sake of misunderstanding- a fundamental comedic device that dates back to the Greeks.

LA’s Beloved Cinespia Unveils August Lineup, from ‘Point Break’ to ‘Psycho’
Image
Cinespia, presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Prime, has unveiled in August lineup for its annual summer screening series at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. In a year that has seen consistently sold-out showings of movies like “Clueless,” “Blue Velvet,” and “Showgirls,” among other classics, the Los Angeles cinematic touchstone will bring more all-time and cult favorites ranging from the ’60s to ’00s.

The fun starts with “Point Break” — which recently received a new 4K restoration last year — on August 2, the 1991 adrenaline rush stars Keanu Reeves as an FBI agent undercover and Patrick Swayze as a zen outlaw. Then, on August 9, enjoy a “Full Moon Slumber Party” at L.A.’s starriest cemetery with a double feature of two creepy flicks, starting with 1987’s “The Lost Boys” and concluding with “An American Werewolf in London,” the terrifying 1981 chiller.

On August 16, give Cinespia your best Blue Steel and join Ben Stiller on the runway in 2001’s “Zoolander.

Owen Wilson Frantically Forgets All His Biggest Movie Taglines on ‘Hot Ones’: ‘Ever Had Someone Get Zero?’ | Video
Image
“Stick” star Owen Wilson had his focus (and tear ducts) tested by the Wings of Death in his “Hot Ones” interview on Thursday.

Wilson was teary-eyed and grappling with the immediate effects of the show’s most infamous hot sauce, Da Bomb Beyond Insanity, when he was asked by “Hot Ones” host Sean Evans to guess movies from his filmography based on their taglines. Beforehand, he was warned that his “Wedding Crashers” co-star, Vince Vaughn, managed to guess seven of his eight movies correctly when he faced the same challenge.

Things got off to a rocky start for Wilson, though, who failed right off the bat to guess “Hall Pass” and “The Royal Tenenbaums” from their taglines. “It’s pretty hot. I’m having a hard time focusing my brain,” Wilson admitted. “Vince did seven out of eight, but have you ever had someone get zero? Maybe I go a different way.

Alexander Skarsgard Recalls “Crying in the Shower” After Bad Auditions
Image
Alexander Skarsgard is reflecting on his challenging years in Hollywood earlier in his career.

During a recent appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast, the actor recalled “crying in the shower” after bad auditions, prior to his 2008 breakout year with his roles in Generation Kill and True Blood.

“I found those experiences — they were horrible — when you go in for something that you know you’re not right for, and you’re not connecting with a character at all, but you’re at a place where you feel like you can’t say no to the audition,” Skarsgard said of his struggles with the audition process, even after he starred in 2001’s Zoolander.

“I was always on the cusp of being fired by my agents,” the Pillion actor added. “If I say no to this [audition], they’re probably gonna drop me, so I gotta go in,...

The 12 Year Old Ben Stiller Movie Made ‘Severance’ Possible That Was Way Ahead of Its Time
Image
Ben Stiller’s early career was made on laugh-out-loud roles in movies like Zoolander and Tropic Thunder, which are now cult-classics. However, beneath the goofy exterior, there’s a more contemplative artist, one who ultimately emerged through Apple TV+’s Severance.

Stiller is an executive producer and part-director of the cerebral and dystopian workplace drama. But fans who have been paying close attention to his journey might have already seen the glimpses of his evolution decades ago. But if you’re unaware, then allow us to introduce you to a misunderstood movie that walked, so Severance could run.

How The Secret Life of Walter Mitty paved the path for Severance Adam Scott in a still from Severance | Credits: Apple TV+

Jay and Mark Duplass on Competing at Emmys and Playing Against Their Good Guy Personas in ‘Dying for Sex’ and ‘Good American Family’
Image
Mark Duplass says he has come up with a “dream moment” for this year’s Emmy Awards — and it sounds more like a nightmare. The idea is that both he and his brother Jay are nominated in the category of outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or TV movie — Mark for “Good American Family,” Jay for “Dying for Sex.”

“We’re at the awards ceremony, sitting next to each other, and we’re both nervous as hell,” Mark says. “And they say, ‘The winner is….mppphhh Duplass!’ I just hear ‘Duplass’ and I run up there and have a full-on ‘Zoolander’ moment where I thank Jay profusely for taking the back seat to me on this one and don’t realize that it was him that won the award. That would be my dream.”

It’s a scene straight out of a Duplass brothers movie, one that makes Mark laugh and Jay cringe.

Ben Stiller to direct a new Twilight Zone movie?
Rod Serling in Rod Serling: Writer (1996)
Created by Rod Serling in 1959, the anthology series The Twilight Zone has one of the most popular names in entertainment history, and different producers have cashed in on that title many times over the years. The original five season run of the show has been followed by a three-season revival in the ’80s, a one season revival in the early 2000s, a two-season revival (headed up by Jordan Peele) in 2019 to 2020, a feature film (produced by Steven Spielberg) that was released in 1983, and a ’90s TV movie called Twilight Zone: Rod Serling’s Lost Classics. Of course, there have also been books, comic books, and video games. For more than ten years, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way has been trying to develop a new Twilight Zone feature film for Warner Bros., as The Twilight Zone is said to be DiCaprio’s favorite TV show… but it has been a bumpy ride,...

“Dude, That Was Sick”: Owen Wilson’s Cult Classic Horror Movie Gets Rave Review From VFX Artists Despite Some “Garbage” Outdated Techniques
Image
Owen Wilson has a long filmography, but his more recognizable roles are typically found in comedies or Wes Anderson collaborations, including The Royal Tenenbaums. Throughout his career, Wilson has appeared in commercially successful franchises, notably Night at the Museum and Cars, where he portrayed Jedediah and Lightning McQueen, respectively. However, some of his most beloved performances to date come from Zoolander and Wedding Crashers, as well as the Shanghai movies, where he starred opposite Jackie Chan.

Despite his comedic talent, Wilson has tackled other genres, starring in Armageddon and Behind Enemy Lines, among more projects. In 1999, he appeared as Luke Sanderson in The Haunting, an adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s acclaimed novelThe Haunting of Hill House, and murderer Van Siegert in The Minus Man, but neither movie was a critical hit. While the same rang true for Anaconda, another horror film, premiering earlier in Wilson’s career, it would go...

Ben Stiller Explains Why He Opted Not To Appear In Severance
Image
Throughout his decades-long Hollywood career, Ben Stiller has acted in several hit movies, including Meet the Parents, and Zoolander. He made his feature film directorial debut with 1994's Reality Bitesand recently stepped back into the role for the hit Apple TV+ series Severance.

Stiller directed 11 episodes of the sci-fi thriller, which led fans to wonder whether he would appear on the show at some point. Although he voiced an animatronic Kier Eagan in Severance Season 1, Episode 8, titled "What's for Dinner,"the actor told Variety that he has no interest in a larger role, though he did consider playing "a doctor of sorts" at some point.

"We talked about it," Stiller explained. "There was a storyline that we were thinking about, but it just didn't feel right. It's great that I’m not in it. I'm very happy to not have my face on the billboard." Writing is currently underway for...

Ben Stiller Reveals Scrapped Severance Season 1 Character He Was Originally Going To Play
Image
Ben Stiller has revealed that he was initially going to play a character in Severance season 1, but it never came to be. As an actor, Stiller developed a reputation for slapstick comedy through movies like There's Something About Mary (1998), Zoolander, and Tropic Thunder (2008). With Severance, however, he took a back seat, serving as director and executive producer for both massively popular seasons. This off-screen role has served Stiller well, but ahead of Severance season 3, he has now revealed that he very nearly played an actual character in season 1.

In an interview with Variety, Stiller and Severance star Adam Scott discussed the series' success and how it might have turned out differently had some alternate creative decisions been made during the early stages of development. They ultimately revealed that Stiller was initially meant to play a doctor character in Severance season 1, but the idea was scrapped. Stiller and Scott provided no...

Ben Stiller and Jessica Lee Gagné on the Arts and Crafts Behind the Art and Craft of Hit ‘Severance’
Image
On June 5, the IndieWire Honors Spring 2025 ceremony will celebrate the creators and stars responsible for some of the most impressive and engaging work of this TV season. Curated and selected by IndieWire’s editorial team, IndieWire Honors is a celebration of the creators, artisans, and performers behind television well worth toasting. We’re showcasing their work with new interviews leading up to the Los Angeles event.

Eight years ago — still two years before Apple TV+ launched, and five years ahead of the “Severance” premiere — Ben Stiller was “desperately seeking a cinematographer.” He was in pre-production on the Showtime (remember Showtime?) limited series “Escape at Dannemora,” a prison break thriller that would mark Stiller’s first serialized directorial effort, and he couldn’t find a director of photography fit for the long shoot ahead.

At the same time, Jessica Lee Gagné was moving to France. “I was actually intentionally not moving to the U.

Ben Stiller Calls Pat McAfee ‘Weird’ for Comments About Him, Timothée Chalamet and Spike Lee Attending Knicks Game: ‘Seems a Little Anachronistic or Cliche?’
Image
Ben Stiller is calling out Pat McAfee for comments about his presence at the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

Stiller, a well known New York Knicks fan, was courtside at Tuesday’s Eastern Conference finals matchup between the Knicks and the Indiana Pacers. He was in attendance in Indianapolis, along with fellow New York natives Timothée Chalamet and Spike Lee. McAfee, a Pacers fan, was also there; during the start of the game, he grabbed the mic to throw some shade at the A-listers.

“Indianapolis, Indiana, we got some bigwigs from the big city in the building,” McAfee said. “Spike Lee is here. Ben Stiller is here. Timothée Chalamet is here. Let’s send these sons of bitches back to New York with their ears bleeding!”

Each name was met with resounding boos from the crowd as McAfee announced them. The game ended in a Pacers’ win, with a score of 130-121.

Ben Stiller Calls Out Pat McAfee for “Weird” Comments About Him and Timothée Chalamet at Knicks Game
Image
Ben Stiller didn’t think Pat McAfee’s comments about him at the Knicks game were all that funny.

The actor-producer-director, who’s also a diehard Knicks fan, was sitting courtside at the fourth game of the Knicks-Pacers Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday, alongside Timothée Chalamet and Spike Lee. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, The Pat McAfee Show host took the microphone to deliver a message to fellow Pacer fans, calling out some of the “bigwigs from the big city” visiting the Indianapolis, Indiana, arena.

“Spike Lee is here. Ben Stiller is here. Timothée Chalamet is here,” McAfee told the crowd, as they booed after each name, before he screamed: “Let’s send these sons of bitches back to New York with their ears ringing.”

After the game, which saw the Pacers beat the Knicks 130-121, Stiller took to X (formerly Twitter) to reply to some videos of McAfee’s speech.
