A French remake of the 1930 American movie "almost a honeymoon" ,both based on the eponymous play ;the French title ( "the midnight man") is ,so to speak ,justified ,for the pennyless dandy and his (female) tenant meet in the flat in the midnight hour .
A lazy dandy ,short of the readies , finds a job in Pondichery but he must be married to get it ;the confirmed bachelor decides to find a wife : he's got an "ex-girlfriend file " and is spoilt for choice .After rejecting several candidates ,he opts for a lido artist , a slender attractive girl in swimsuit(on the photograph):but when he meets her , she's turned into a pudgy matron and he pretends they've never met .Drunk , he forgets that he has rented his flat to a couple about to get married and he comes back to midnight....to meet the future bride.
The first part is arguably the funniest .Then the rapport the owner has with his lovely tenant quite derivative ,and the well-known trick of the rich uncle is hackneyed .
