Cheesy effects, horrible dialog, poor acting, weak plot...thoroughly below average...

An insecure weenie buys "Tears" of a long dead witch to try to get a woman to love him forever. Something else happens (The film is so damn confusing I couldn't tell just what happened. Anyways...) and suddenly a witch is terrorizing him and a group of his friends in a remote location (That's a new plot idea, ehh?)and killing off the cast in various gory ways. Cheesy effects, loads of gore, and some of the most inane dialog you'll ever hear (And I'm not kidding), yet strangely not very entertaining. The films worst problem lies in the fact that the screen play is easily the worst ever written by a rational human being. Seriously, the dialog was AMAZINGLY stupid! I'm sure the lack of budget also contributed to this problem. There is, however, plenty of gore, including a nasty ripped out heart. More of these moments and less dumb dialog scenes could have made this bore work but in the end it's little more than a below-average "Shock"-fest. It's obvious the cast and the crew made a sincere effort to bring something to the table but they failed badly. 2.5-3/10.

A worthy effort by a very talented filmmaker.

Glynn Beard's clever use of mise en scene is displayed brilliantly throughout this film. Though THE CRIER is a low-budget work, the presence of a technical director can be seen throughout (he knows his craft quite well). Few understand the true marathon that film production is. It is quite admirable that Mr. Beard was able to do what he did with this film. I applaud him for it.

      Just plain bad

It's hard to describe how I felt after watching (parts) of this movie.

The acting wasn't very good, the "special" effects were abysmally bad, and overall it made me feel sad that I actually spent time watching bits and parts of this movie, I spent most of the fast-forwarding to get to the gory stuff. (It takes almost an hour for any action to start at all, the movie is an hour and twenty minutes long)

It deserves a place in the Bottom 100 list, no doubt about it.

      My rating: 2/10.
