John Cleese was asked to play a role in the second season as the manager of a rival hotel called the Sand Dune. Larroquette wanted "John Cleese to be the owner and be the nicest man in the world." Since "Payne" before a second season was made. it never happened.
In the opening credits, the Whispering Pines sign alternates between falling forward, falling back, doing nothing, or in one episode, being split in half by hurricane force winds.
