Cameras are now rolling on HBO's Dcu Lanterns series, and we have world on a late addition to the cast via Variety.

Model/actress Nicole Ari Parker has joined the show in the recurring role of Bernadette, mother of John Stewart (Aaron Pierre).

Parker can currently be seen in HBO's And Just Like That, and has also appeared in a number of movies including Blue Streak (1999), Remember the Titans (2000), Brown Sugar (2002), Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008), Black Dynamite (2009), and Almost Christmas (2016).

Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence clearly work very well together. They co-starred in movies like the classic 1992 comedy Boomerang, as well as 1999’s Life — which was a dramedy about two prison inmates in the early 20th century, and not an adaptation of the classic board game (nor was it associated with the popular breakfast cereal).

Recently, Murphy revealed that he would like to re-team with Lawrence for a third movie: a remake of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, the star-studded 1963 film about a frenzied hunt for buried treasure (which was already unofficially remade as Rat Race in 2001). “Anybody that was funny over the last 30 years is going to be in this movie,” Murphy said of the project which hadn’t been written yet at the time.

Then, earlier this month, Lawrence revealed that he and Murphy are currently writing a follow-up to the 1999 comedy Blue Streak, which they would both star in.

Amid the shocking news of a sequel, one of Bad Boys star Martin Lawrences most beloved action outings is all set to stream for free. Released back in 1999, the action-comedy Blue Streak sees Lawrence leading as a master thief who finds himself double-crossed, stashing the diamond hes just stolen on a construction site, and sent to prison. When hes released, he discovers that what was once a construction site is now a police station...and the diamond is buried somewhere inside.

Martin Lawrence is returning for a sequel to his 1999 action comedy Blue Streak.

In what might just be the most out of left field sequel news we’ve reported this year, Martin Lawrence police comedy Blue Streak is getting a follow up, 25 years after the original.

Deadline has revealed that a sequel is in development at Sony. Lawrence is onboard as star and a producer through his company Run Tel Dat. The script has been written by Cole Maliska, but there’s currently no word on who might direct.

If you need a refresher, the original Blue Streak was inspired by, of all things, the 1965 Sid James and Dick Emery film The Big Job. It saw Lawrence play Miles, a jewel thief who disguises himself as a policeman in order to steal diamonds, but ends up being partnered with actual cop, Detective Carlson, played by Luke Wilson. It’s hard to believe, but we’ve only gotten four Bad Boys movies despite it being an almost thirty-year-old franchise. With Will Smith’s stardom reaching truly epic levels, he never really had time to become a “franchise” guy outside of Men in Black (which he eventually left as well), which, in some ways, has been a blessing to this buddy cop series. While audiences are a bit sick of franchises that crank out movie after movie, the Bad Boys films are still pretty fresh, so when they return occasionally, audiences are happy to see them (with the series showing no signs of waning). Actor Sean Lampkin, best known for his role as bar owner Nipsey on the 1990s sitcom “Martin,” has died. He was 54.

Marsel Watts, a friend of Lampkin, made the announcement in a Facebook post on March 8.

“My friend, my last roommate for 10 years, a father and family man, my brother, skate buddy, business partner, and trainer passed away this morning. Rip Sean Lampkin,” Watts wrote.

According to Essence, writer Memnar Grayton confirmed that Lampkin died in his sleep. However, no cause of death has been released.

Hulu’s list of new releases for April 2022 is highlighted by FX limited series Under the Banner of Heaven. This adaptation of the non-fiction book by John Krakauer stars Andrew Garfield as a Mormon police detective whose faith is shaken when investigating a murder involving the church.

It’s not all just FX on the TV side of things for Hulu this month, however. The streamer is debuting second seasons of its series The Hardy Boys (April 6) and Woke (April 8). There isn’t much to report from Hulu’s original movies arm aside from true crime documentary Captive Audience on April 21. The series tells the story of a happily married father of five (Lawrence) who quits his suffocating job in tech to chase his original love of stand-up comedy. When his wife suddenly dies, he must decide whether he should pursue his dream and risk losing his kids — who are lost without their mother. Described as “hilarious, intelligent, and raw,” the series examines what it means “to seek pleasure and find comfort in the face of tragedy and tackles the timeless challenge of ‘wanting to have it all’ from a uniquely male perspective, with some twists along the way.”

Hulu’s list of new releases for June 2021 is highlighted by a host of useful library titles and one fascinating original film.

The original film in question is the one that lends its delightful photo of Pierce Brosnan delivering a baby to this post. False Positive stars and was written by Ilana Glazer (Broad City). It sounds like a really fun, creepy time with a synopsis that reads: “After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own “birth story.” Cool!

Hulu’s other original offerings aren’t too inspiring this month. Only Love, Victor season 2 on June 11 moves the needle much.

Comcast launched a new destination with Black content, endorsed by the African American Film Critics Association, which is available to customers on Xfinity X1, Flex and Stream App at no additional cost.

Dubbed “Black Experience,” the content hub at launch comprises more than 100 titles (and growing). It’s a mix of programming from across the Xfinity content catalog, spanning networks, free and ad-supported video streaming services, and streaming music providers.

Another year, and another daunting challenge to keep up with the number of streaming options available from the big online players. And to mark January 1st, there’s some new content to enjoy on the likes of Netflix, Disney Plus and HBO Max, among others, as well as several notable changes in licensing agreements that may affect how you can watch your favorite shows.

On Netflix, the biggest fresh release is the third season of Cobra Kai, which has been a hit for the service since making the move from YouTube. Critics are already dishing out praise for the latest block of episodes of The Karate Kid spinoff, which had its premiere date bumped up by a week. Other highlights, meanwhile, include Netflix documentary The Minimalists: Less Is Now, and a lot of licensed movies ranging from Bonnie and Clyde to Goodfellas.

So long, 2020, 2021 is here! Now that we’ve entered the New Year, the various major streaming services are starting January with a bang as they all have hefty hauls arriving this weekend. The first day of the month always sees a load of newly licensed titles go up across the platforms and that’s especially the case in January, as Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Hulu and Prime Video have tons of great new movies and TV shows debuting this weekend.

For starters, there’s something for all tastes becoming available on Netflix on January 1st. We’ve got Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, animated comedy Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, both Sex in the City movies, Superbad, Bruce Lee classic Enter the Dragon, horror flick Gothika and not one but two films directed by Martin Scorsese, Goodfellas and The Departed, featuring DiCaprio again.

It’s finally time to start shedding off the terrible year of 2020 and begin thinking positively about 2021, and Netflix is making that fairly easy by starting the new year off the right way. With its first content drop of the month, the world’s most popular streaming service is proving how it got that title with a massive selection of movies and shows that are certain to tickle the fancy of subscribers looking for new stuff to watch.

If you’re a fan of Robert Downey Jr., today is a really great day for you, as the prolific actor has had two additions added to Netflix in a single drop. His 2009 take on the world’s most popular detective can be seen in the simply-titled Sherlock Holmes, and you can also catch him as a doctor in the 2003 supernatural thriller Gothika.

The first month of a new year is a good time to make a new impression. And that’s just what Netflix seems set on doing with its list of new releases for January 2021.

The streamer is coming out strong with a third season of Cobra Kai, formerly of YouTube Premium. The next installment in Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence’s story is set to arrive…eventually. Netflix has not unveiled a released date yet but it will be during this month. While Cobra Kai is the highlight among Netflix’ original series, it’s not the only one by a long shot. Last year’s fun Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous returns for a second season on Jan. 22 and it will be accompanied by Fate: The Winx Saga. Also, if you’re a fan of things that will one day be .gif’ed to death, the Nicolas Cage-hosted History of Swear Words drops on Jan.

Christmas may be over, but this coming week will still deliver a lot of gifts in terms of new Netflix releases. The streaming giant has got a bunch of titles arriving over the last couple days of the year and then it’s dropping more than 40 fresh releases on New Year’s Day. A new year is just around the corner and as folks start getting ready to say goodbye to the nightmare that was 2020, it’s time to look ahead at all the great movies and TV shows coming down the pipeline to keep us entertained over the next 12 months.

Hopes are high that things will begin to return to normal again and productions will be able to run smoother, meaning less delays and setbacks. And with 2021 absolutely packed with new releases right now, there’s more than enough to get excited about no matter where your interests lie.

But aside from just what’s coming to theaters and airing on television, we’ve also got all the streaming services still offering up a bevy of fresh content every month and January is no different. Indeed, the first few weeks of the new year will see Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Hulu...

January is usually referred to as the theatrical industry’s dumping ground, where projects destined to fail are shoved out into the world to die a slow and painful death at the box office. Obviously, next month could see almost every new release face a similar fate as business is still showing no signs of recovery, but Netflix are looking to buck the trend and rehabilitate January’s reputation as a safe haven for fresh content, and the streaming service have some major original movies and TV shows on the horizon.

The most exciting without a doubt is History of Swear Words, which sees Nicolas Cage hosting a six-episode series that delves into the origins and multiple uses of profanity. With 2020 now coming to an end – thank goodness – and a new year finally in sight, it’s time to begin looking forward to what all the various streaming platforms will be bringing us to kick off 2021 with. And after Disney Plus was first out of the gate to announce their lineup yesterday, Netflix has now followed, revealing a huge range of content set to drop in January that consists of hit movies, beloved TV shows and a whole lot more.

Of course, the 1st of the month is the busiest day and brings mostly licensed titles with it, as is often the case. But the following days look to keep up the momentum, with a ton of exciting films and television series on the way, all combining for what appears to be a fantastic month of new content.

Updated, 8:22 Am: The Kennedy Center has set the talent lineup for its Mark Twain Prize for American Humor gala celebrating Dave Chappelle. Bradley Cooper, Tiffany Haddish. Kevin Hart, Trevor Noah, Jon Stewart, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen for the October 27 event at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan. Other guests will be announced for the show that PBS will air in January.

Previously, May 7: Dave Chappelle will be the recipient of this year’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The honor, in its 22nd year being handed out by the John F. Twenty-three-year-old daily vlogger Alfie Deyes is readying his fourth literary effort -- another activity book dubbed Pointless Book 3.

Published in the U.S. by Blue Streak Books, a division of Bonnier, the title -- which takes its name from Deyes' YouTube channel, Pointless Blog -- hits shelves on July 18. (In the U.K., it will be available on July 13). Like Pointless Book and Pointless Book 2, the third installment serves as an interactive journal inviting readers to try various challenges, games, pranks, and activities at home. In addition to the interactive books, Deyes, who counts roughly 11.5 million subscribers across his three YouTube channels, also released The Scrapbook Of My Life -- an autobiography -- last year.
