If there’s one thing that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is majorly good at to a significant extent, it’s casting the right person for the right role. For one, it got away with one of the best casting of all time when it decided to go forward with the late legendary Chadwick Boseman for the role of Black Panther – a choice so iconic he continues to leave an indelible mark on fans worldwide.

But while Boseman was one, before him, the studio was reportedly eyeing a different actor to embody the respective character in another installment in Fox’s Fantastic Four film series. Per reports, the one considered for the role was none other than the fan-favorite Guardians of the Galaxy actor Djimon Hounsou. However, the said project could unfortunately never materialize.
Djimon Hounsou could have preceded Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther Djimon Hounsou.

Miles Teller is doing the press rounds to promote his new genre-mashup, The Gorge, and with the first trailer for Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four: First Steps hitting last week, questions inevitably turned to the actor's role as Reed Richards in 20th Century Fox's Fant4stic.
Josh Trank's Ff movie was a notorious bomb, and not something the director or cast have been particularly enthusiastic to discuss over the years.
As you might expect, Teller wasn't too eager to talk about his brief tenure as Mr. Fantastic while chatting to THR, but he did reveal that he watched the trailer for the MCU reboot, and is excited to see the movie later this year.
“I don’t wish anybody to be a part of a bomb … I just wish them the best," Teller said. "I saw the little trailer and I thought it looked fantastic, I’m very excited for them.

Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps earlier this week along with some unique posters which, briefly, caused some AI-related controversy.
Now that's over with, fans believe they've spotted a potentially major Easter Egg on one of the posters which pays homage to Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross' 1994 four-issue comic book series, Marvels.
As you can see in the Reddit post below, the photographer pit front and centre bears a striking resemblance to Philip Sheldon. In the comic, he's a news photographer who witnesses some incredible moments in Marvel Comics history - over several decades - from the perspective of an Everyman.
"Same outfit, one eye covered by the camera (hiding the eye patch?), same age," this fan points out. "Sheldon was photographing all the major canon MCU events during the golden age of comics, so this would fit."

The Fantastic Four: First Steps IMAX Trailer May Confirm A Major Sue Storm Rumor - Possible Spoilers
The first trailer for Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps was released earlier this week, and an IMAX version of the teaser has now been shared online.
Though the trailer doesn't feature any new footage, the expanded aspect ratio does allow us to see a little more of what's going on in the far corners of the screen, and something else happening in the shot of Johnny Storm taking flight as the Human Torch caught one fan's eye.
Possible spoilers follow.
As Johnny "flames-on," you'll notice Reed Richards helping his wife, Sue Storm, back inside. Sue is hunched over and appears to be clutching her stomach, possibly confirming the persistent rumor that she will be pregnant at the start of the movie.
Before the reboot entered production, we heard that Sue would be pregnant when we first meet her, later giving birth to Franklin Richards in space. The child...

Marvel's First Family has officially entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first trailer for the hotly-anticipated The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released.
The first trailer for The Fantastic Four, which takes place in a retro-futuristic 1960s setting, introduces audiences to Marvel's First Family: Reed Richard/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing, played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, respectively. Unlike 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four movies, First Steps picks up with the foursome after they have gained their respective superpowers, with the Fantastic Four already a recognizable part of this universe. The trailer doesn't reveal too much about the movie's plot, although there are a couple of shots of Ralph Ineson's Galactus, who looks extremely faithful to the comic version. The trailer also ends with the Fantastic Four standing in their classic white and blue suits,...

Marvel fans, prepare for launch. The first footage from The Fantastic Four: First Steps has come online, ahead of the official trailer tomorrow.
Before ABC revealed that the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps would premiere on Good Morning America on February 4 — which can conveniently be written as F4, the Fantastic Four's logo — fans had speculated that the trailer might debut during the upcoming Super Bowl on Feb. 9. It had previously been reported that Disney had bought two ad spots for upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. At this time, it remains unclear which MCU movies will be promoted at the Super Bowl, although Marvel Studios also has Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* coming out this year, with the former set to hit theaters just a few days after the highly-watched football championship game. It's recently been reported by multiple outlets that the teaser trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps could be released during next Sunday's Super Bowl. Well, as luck would have it, we won't have to wait until the Big Game after all.
Good Morning America has confirmed that the trailer will premiere during Tuesday's show on ABC; needless to say, the 4th is a fitting date - February 4 = F4 - to drop a sneak peek we've confirmed will be released online immediately after it airs on television.
While a TV spot still seems likely for Sunday, this allows Marvel Studios to dominate the news cycle in the days leading up to the game. The alternative is that The Fantastic Four: First Steps becomes one of countless trailers, fighting with the likes of Jurassic World Rebirth and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning for people's attention.

This year's Super Bowl will be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 9, and, as usual, we're expecting a number of big trailer/TV spot debuts during the annual sporting event.
Coming off a disappointingly quiet year for comic book-based movies, 2025 is shaping up to be a much more exciting 12 months for the genre. Superman director James Gunn has already confirmed that we will see something new from the Dcu reboot (likely Krypto-related) during the Puppy Bowl, and thanks to Cryptic HD Quality, we may now know at least some of the other major spots to look out for.
Our first look at some footage from Jurassic World Rebirth seems highly likely, as do new teasers for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning and Thunderbolts*. The first official teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps is also long overdue after a number of leaks, but it's...

James Gunn’s Superman recently debuted its first teaser trailer, making it the most hyped upcoming superhero movie. The film marks a new dawn for DC movies and received plenty of positive reactions on social media. As a result, it is hard to argue against its box office potential. However, it won’t be easy for Superman to become 2025’s highest-grossing superhero movie.

Jurassic World Rebirth is going up against both Marvel and DC in 2025, and the newest entry in the Jurassic Park franchise will most likely come out on top. While Jurassic World Dominion premiered to poor reviews and has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score out of all Jurassic Park movies, it still did great at the box office and grossed over $1 billion. As such, even though Dominion could have very well been the end of a trilogy, the announcement of a new Jurassic World film wasn’t surprising.
The upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth is technically a sequel to Dominion, yet it can also be described as the first chapter of a new series of films. From the “Rebirth” title to the so far entirely new cast, Jurassic World Rebirth is positioning itself as a fresh start for the franchise. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are finally charging forward on their next collaboration with Spider-Man 4. While there are many conflicting rumors about exactly what the new outing for Tom Holland’s web-slinger will entail, a new report from industry insider Daniel Richtman has suggested that Furiosa star Anya Taylor-Joy is being eyed for a major role in the upcoming movie.
Taylor-Joy has been carving out an impressive run of movies and TV shows, including Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit, and Dune: Part Two. This is not the first time that the actress has been on Marvel’s radar, and would also not be her first Marvel rodeo, having previously appeared in Fox’s ill-fated New Mutants. The McU's Fantastic Four's release date follows a franchise trend that goes back 20 years. Since the MCU started in 2008, audiences have waited for Marvel's First Family to join this universe. The story of The Fantastic Four: First Steps will bring the four iconic teammates to the MCU timeline, raising hopes that Marvel can finally give this team the great move they deserve. Three movies have been made featuring The Fantastic Four, and while they have their moments, they have been largely underwhelming.
2005's Fantastic Four had a stellar cast, but it was overly goofy and didn't deliver a story worthy of the team. The same can be said for the 2007 sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer. The 2015 reboot fared even worse than the prior two films, as even the director acknowledged the movie didn't meet his expectations. Hopefully, the third time's the charm, and the MCU can adapt these characters correctly.

Marvel fans have been waiting a long time for any updates on Blade, the iconic vampire-slaying, katana-wielding antihero who carved his place in pop culture with Wesley Snipes’ unforgettable portrayal in the late ’90s and early 2000s. Blade didn’t just introduce audiences to a lesser-known Marvel character; it set a darker, edgier tone that stood apart in the superhero world and paved the way for more mature comic book films.

A new MCU rumor reveals that Robert Downey Jr.'s version of Doctor Doom may be the only one fans see on the big screen. In addition to the next two Avengers films, the upcoming Marvel Studios slate includes a Fantastic Four movie featuring Galactus as a villain, but it seems that the franchise will not be delving into Doom's relationship with Marvel's first family. As previously reported, filming for Marvel Studios Avengers: Doomsday is expected to commence early next year, and we now have some production updates courtesy of insider Daniel Richtman.
According to the scooper, the actors playing the movie's main heroes will each film for about a month starting in March, while those with smaller supporting roles will shoot for a week or two. Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom) will reportedly be on set the longest, filming for about three months. The entire production is expected to take around five months.
It's no surprise that Doom will have a major role, but this could indicate that previous rumors that the villain will actually be the main focus of the movie were accurate. This wouldn't necessarily mean that the other characters will be short-changed - after all, Thanos was arguably the main character in Avengers: Infinity War.
Richtman has also shared some Doom-related X posts,...

Marvel Television executive Brad Winderbaum gave word of a budgetary goal for the MCU’s Phase 6 that could prove divisive for some.
Disney+ has given the MCU the opportunity to expand its storytelling by leaps and bounds. It hasn’t all been the best-received content that ever was, but a fair few shows have achieved breakout success. However, many of Marvel’s Disney+ series have been marked with high price tags.
The McU's Phase 6 will begin with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and with it will be even more Disney+ series. Beyond Paul Bettany-led Vision show (set to debut in 2026), other expected Phase 6 TV titles include Wonder Man (if it doesn't come out before F4) as well as the cosmic-based Nova series.

The X-Men '97 finale featured some huge Marvel Universe cameos, including Black Panther. However, we'd later discover that T'Chaka was beneath the mask, not T'Challa.
The decision has perplexed viewers, particularly when T'Challa's father is typically portrayed as the former Black Panther who fought alongside Captain America in World War II. T'Challa being sidelined spawned many discussions online, with most convinced the decision must be related to Chadwick Boseman's death.
Of course, it also created some continuity issues because T'Challa was Black Panther in the short-lived Fantastic Four: The Animated Series...which is presumably part of the same universe as this revival).
X-Men '97 season 1 showrunner Beau DeMayo was asked about the change when the final aired and responded "NDA." Now, though, he's finally cleared things up.

So far, 2024 has been relatively quiet in terms of major superhero film releases. We saw Madame Web come out in February, followed by a few months of minimal activity, and then the year’s biggest release, Deadpool & Wolverine, in July. Looking ahead, we can expect Joker: Folie à Deux on October 4th, Venom: The Last Dance on October 25th, and Kraven the Hunter on December 13th.
Given the recent shifts in release dates and the crowded schedule, it’s likely that some of these films may struggle at the box office.
With the MCU having only released one movie this year, 2025 is set to make up for it with a packed schedule. Upcoming releases include Captain America: Brave New World on February 14, Thunderbolts on May 2, and Fantastic Four on July 25. Blade is also slated for November 7, 2025, although its release date might be uncertain given the current production status.

I Love How Marvel Just Revealed Reed Richards' Hidden Superpower (The Opposite of Invisible Woman's)
Reed and Sue Richards' unique perspectives, one seeing everything and the other hiding it, complement each other. Reed's scientific mind is tested against supernatural foes in Blood Hunt, forcing him to adapt and utilize his surroundings. The Fantastic Four's dynamic showcases how they fill in each other's gaps, with Reed and Sue excelling at different approaches.
Warning: Contains spoilers for Fantastic Four #22!!Since the moment the Fantastic Four were bombarded with cosmic rays, they've learned to work in unison. What one lacks, another fills in, and that's especially the case for Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. It isn't all about superpowers, though, and I can't help but admire the way Reed sees what exists in a space while Sue is so adept at hiding the same thing.
In Fantastic Four #22 by Ryan North, Ivan Fiorelli, Jesus Aburtov, and Joe Caramagna, Reed Richards and Alicia Masters continue to fight against Blood Hunt's vampires.

Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror was hyped up a lot by the Marvel Studios in its last few projects. After the damage done to the universe by Thanos, Kang was supposed to be the next “big bad villain” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it all came crashing down when Jonathan Majors was convicted of assault and harassment toward his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot has rightly generated hype considering the kind of updates that have come out thus far. While the characters were previously featured in the 20th Century Fox series, perhaps the most accurate depiction from the comics happened in 1994’s Fantastic Four: The Animated Series, as it featured multiple narratives taken straight from various traditional DC arcs.
The titular theory, which suggests that the upcoming movie might as well feature the same characters from the timeline seen in the animated offering makes sense on various fronts. Furthermore, it will also pave the way for the potential inclusion of the X-Men ‘97 characters in a future live-action movie.

T'Challa being sidelined has spawned many fan theories, with most convinced the decision must be related to Chadwick Boseman's death.
Following the actor's tragic passing, Marvel Studios chose not to recast his Black Panther. Instead, the hero died off-screen in the MCU, and 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ended with the reveal that he has a son, also called T'Challa.
In an interview with Phase Zero (via Toonado.com), X-Men '97 supervising director Jake Castorena was asked if there was a reason T'Chaka was depicted as Black Panther after the short-lived Fantastic Four: The Animated Series featured the...

Even though the Marvel Cinematic Universe is incredibly secretive with Avengers 5, just like every other one of its projects, leaks about the casting for the movie seem to be popping up nonetheless. Although a majority of the critics seemingly deemed it unworthy, the original Fantastic Four film series is still regarded as one of the best adaptations ever created. This is because even though a lot of people had issues with the plotlines, pretty much no one had any issues with the cast which included Chris Evans’ widely acclaimed fan-favorite embodiment of the Human Torch as well.
The original Fantastic Four cast from the early 2000s.
In fact, Evans’ performance as Johnny Storm so deeply influenced the viewers that even someone like Joseph Quinn, who would be continuing the character’s legacy in the upcoming reboot, couldn’t help but praise him. But while he holds him in wide regard, Quinn has also made it clear that his portrayal of Johnny wouldn’t be the same, but rather, something he creates on his own.

A new Fantastic Four reboot is currently in the works, and this one seemingly intends to right all the wrongs that the previous films from the original saga did. If anything, it seems to be especially setting a different course for the Silver Surfer than was seen in the previous installments, considering the most recent casting reports.

According to news from sources, Norrin Radd will seemingly have a new companion by his side when he gets introduced in the upcoming movie: Shalla-Bal, the character Julia Garner has been cast in. /Film recently ranked the five live-action Fantastic Four films and came to the following daring conclusion: Oley Sassone's unreleased 1994 entry "The Fantastic Four" was the best. Many have seen this version of "The Fantastic Four" thanks to the wide circulation of bootleg copies, and it's been ridiculed in many cinematic circles for its low budget (it was made for only $1 million), its corny dialogue, and its aggressively bad special effects. But while the cheapness of Sassone's film is visibly evident -- it was overseen by B-movie elder stateman Roger Corman -- it does manage to capture the comic-operatic tone of the original 1960s comic books. It accurately understands the outsize nature of the characters.
For many years, the only way to see "The Fantastic Four" was through surreptitiously distributed VHS taps handed off between nerdy high school students. Thanks...

Since Marvel Studios hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to their recent premiers at the box office, they are now locked in heavily with the production and excellent execution of their future projects, the biggest among them being none other than the reboot of The Fantastic Four.
Thus, to make it stand out from the others that came before it, they are putting some serious effort and thought into it.

Overtake! is a sports anime about F4 racing. Money and sponsorships determine the outcome as much as skill. The protagonist Haruka Asahina is a young driver allied with the independent “privateer” team Komaki Motors. All it takes is a bad tire for Haruka to lose a race. His rivals, Satsuki Harunaga and Toshiki Tokumaru, belong to the larger and wealthier team Belsorriso. They win even on their worst days. The stage is set for an underdog story, where a young boy comes from nowhere to beat the establishment at their own game. Related: Overtake! Is a Great Way to Get Into Formula Racing Certainly the climax of the series sees Haruka and Komaki Motors challenge Belsorriso’s dominance of the track. But Overtake! has a lot more on its mind than just Haruka’s story of perseverance. The series spends just as much time with Satsuki and Toshiki of Belsorriso.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) remains one of the most hotly debated franchises despite the recent decline in form. The franchise is currently in its fifth phase and is building up steam in its Multiverse Saga, which will lead to the next Avengers movies. However, fans have often been critical of the direction Kevin Feige has taken with the newer phases of the MCU.
Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man 3
On X (formerly Twitter), an avid fan pointed out the flaw in MCU’s current plan using Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man as an example. The fan made a compelling argument regarding the state of the MCU and the crisis it might face if Feige and his team do not rectify the situation. Most fans seemed to agree with the supposed flaw in Feige’s plan for the Multiverse Saga and here is what fans are saying on social media.

Marvel has a plethora of projects slated for release in the coming years, many of which have been caught in limbo due to the recent SAG-AFTRA strike that brought the industry to a standstill, resulting in numerous delays and cancellations.
Among these projects, ‘Blade,’ an eagerly anticipated Marvel Studios venture, has faced challenges predating the strikes. This McU-based film follows Eric Brooks, a prominent vampire hunter from the comics, and marks a reboot of the beloved ‘Blade’ trilogy, which played a pivotal role in paving the way for the MCU.

Marvel has plenty of projects bound to be released in the next few years, and we know that most of these projects have been stuck in a sort of limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that paralyzed the whole industry as a whole, causing plenty of projects to be both delayed or altogether canceled.
One extremely anticipated Marvel Studios project that had problems way before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ It is an McU-based movie following Eric Brooks, the most notable vampire hunter in comics, and a reboot of the already highly popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that contributed to paving the way for the MCU that we know today.
Next to nothing is known about the ‘Blade’ movie besides the fact that Mahershala Ali proposed the project and will be playing the titular vampire hunter. The movie was originally supposed to come out in 2023, but the release date was pushed...

Several aspects of Marvel Studios’ upcoming Fantastic Four film remain a mystery, though the veil has been lifted from the official superhero quartet’s casting. Fans and enthusiasts have traditionally relied on rumors and reports to compensate for the lack of available and confirmed information. When it concerns F4, those have gone hand-in-hand with its existence so far.

I think there are tons of stories that I’m familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.”
Hamm specifically called out The X-Men and The Fantastic Four as properties that still have a lot of tread on their tires. In terms of characters, he namechecked F4 villain Doctor Doom.
“Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not,” he continued, “I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks...

We haven’t had a proper Avengers movie since the release of ‘Endgame’ in 2019, and this is the moment that plenty of fans felt the MCU stopped giving us their best. Instead, it’s been a rollercoaster of underperforming Disney+ series and movies with few notable exceptions that have been praised far and wide.
We know that Marvel Studios has two Avengers movies planned for 2026 and 2027, ‘Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Secret Wars.’ But due to the most recent controversies surrounding Jonathan Majors and the poor performance of the movies that were released in the last year or so, the studio might be rethinking its strategy, and it’s been heavily rumored for the past several weeks that ‘Kang Dynasty’ perhaps ain’t happening at all.
‘Quantumania’ was the first movie that was supposed to showcase the new villain for the Avengers, Kang the Conqueror or Council of Kangs in any case.

As rumors continue to swirl around who will play the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Fantastic Four, a new report claims two of the alleged frontrunners are no longer in the race.
Per noted industry insider Kc Walsh, both Adam Driver and Margot Robbie are no longer in talks to play the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, respectively. Walsh didn't supply a reason for their apparent departure but did state that the film's cast is currently still "in flux," suggesting Marvel Studios hasn't yet found its Fantastic Four. It's worth noting that neither the production company nor Disney has issued any statements on recent developments in the process so a grain of salt is recommended.

As the Multiverse Saga progresses, the MCU is getting ready to introduce one of the most iconic teams from Marvel Comics. After having been with 21st Century Fox for over a decade before the rights reverted to Marvel Studios, a new Fantastic Four franchise is in the works. It has been a long-time coming for Marvel's First Family as various heroes have wrapped their time in the MCU. WandaVision director Matt Shakman is set to helm the highly anticipated reboot.
Thus far, a lot of details have been kept under wraps about the McU's take on the Fantastic Four. However, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige has stressed that the team will have massive importance for the MCU going forward.
