The classic and gritty 1990s Berserk anime adaptation is being re-released on modern media in 2024.

Recently announced by Discotek Media, a new Blu-ray collection will collect the entirety of the 1997 version of Berserk. This entry was the first such adaptation of the late Kentaro Miura's classic manga series, which is known for its dark and brutal content. Despite its age, it's also the most well-received anime iteration of the franchise so far due to how well it brought the source material to life. While the rights to the anime had previously lapsed for the former owners, Berserk is now being handled by American entertainment company Discotek Media, which has become especially well-known for "rescue-licensing" retro titles from the 1970s-1990s.

Discotek Media announced a new slate of licenses and releases during their "It's a Very Big Discotek New Years! Livestream" ( Part 1 and Part 2 ) today, including the 1997 TV anime adaptation of Berserk , the final season of Medabots , the Urusei Yatsura Ova series and much more. Announcements made during the livestream are in alphabetical order.
