            my favorite ukrainian movie

Film of tenderness, rage and sorrow. Felt every emotion, every shot, second and movement. The best possible introduction to Muratova I could get. Sincere laughter, tears and emptiness i felt throughout and after the movie. No soundtrack makes this movie a complete masterpiece.

After encountering resistance from censors, and outright suppression, on her first few films, Muratova had to deal on Among Grey Stones with re-editing without her permission, she withdrew her name and the film was released under the pseudonym of Ivan Sidorov.
