impressive, but it has its downsides

This is a very good series, which gives a clear vision on competition between shipbuilders. The actors are very good, especially Daan Schuurmans, who plays his role as violent and actually mad Anton very good. Also the special-effects are impressive. The one thing I thought was unbelievable, was that Anton still lives after he was tight to a ship that exploded and the sudden way some characters change their actings and ideas. Still I find it very nice to watch every week and I can certainly recommend it.

overbudgetted soap

1st season was ok, it had a kind of "new" feel to it, 2 shipbuilding families, one succesfull the other on the verge of collapse. in the cliffhanger of the 1st season the show took a radical and strange turn for the worse. Sam, the daughter of the de Graaf family, joined the navy and stole a machinegun and shot the livingroom up.

From then on I occasionally watched a few minutes of the later seasons, but it has turned so ridiculous that I stopped watching.

Too bad, this show could've been something different to all the bad soaps being produced..

Soap-opera extreme

Okay...so maybe soap-opera is bit of an insult, because this show offered more than just your regular soap-opera story lines. It's been a while since I've seen it and the final season was ridiculous, but I remember really enjoying the second season. I loved the little Romeo and Juliet-thing that was going on between Sam and Anton (Daan Schuurmans was terrific as Anton!), because it was all very sweet. The whole concept of the show is pretty original. Sometimes things did get a big ridiculous though. Especially in the final season when there were face transplants and stuff. I stopped watching then, but I remember several things about the second season that really makes me want to watch the show again. Like the storyline about Tessa and Nancy and Nancy turning into a psycho with an axe...That was all fun. The show wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed watching it.
