The two-day festival challenges participants to make films that are three minutes or less for a chance to win prizes and receive ongoing mentorship from the independent studio.

The top three winners receive a filmmaking prize package with essential resources and “best-in-class” equipment for future filmmaking opportunities. They will also join the Agbo Storytellers Collective, an alumni network of winners from other Agbo-sponsored festivals and fellowship programs such as the Russo Brothers Italian American Filmmaker Forum and the Slamdance Film Festival Fellowship — the same festival the Russos received their start at in 1997 as emerging filmmakers.

In the past three years of the festival, “No Sleep ’til Film Fest” received over 2000 submissions from over 60 countries. 2023 winners included “Time of Your Life” directed by Darren Hinchy (Canada), “Just a Sec!

Green Day launched their North American “Saviors Tour” at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on Monday night (July 29th), with 41,000 fans in attendance. The stacked tour bill features support from The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas.

The outing finds Green Day celebrating the 30th and 20th anniversaries of their classic albums Dookie and American Idiot, respectively. In their third collaboration, director Shawn Levy was never going to be the one to rein in Ryan Reynolds’ taste for quippy zingers and winking meta gags that regularly demolish the fourth wall, especially when the star gets the lead screenplay credit. Constructing a soundtrack album is a gentle -- and perhaps lost -- art. This author is old enough to remember the 1990s heyday of movie soundtracks, when film producers would regularly license charting pop hits, obscure deep cuts, upcoming rappers, and underappreciated indie bands to construct carefully curated and meticulously produced albums that lived happily in your friends' cars all summer. As the music industry collapsed in the early 2000s, however, soundtrack records fell out of favor. Movie songs became mere playlists, neither arranged on a CD in any cogent order nor lending themselves toward a general thematic thrust. We '90s teens can now whine (as is our wont) that soundtrack albums are, in the '20s, rarely more than "pile of neat songs.

Agbo on Wednesday revealed the winners of its 48-hour filmmaking competition No Sleep ‘til Film Fest.

The 48-hour short filmmaking competition invites emerging creators to make a bite-sized film, three minutes or less, based off of the provided creative prompt. The judges for the festival included Agbo co-founders and directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Chief Creative Officer Angela Russo-Otstot, Chief Innovation Officer Jake Aust, Chief Marketing Officer Marian Koltai-Levine, President of Film Michael Disco, and President of TV Scott Nemes.

Former NCIS star Pauley Perrette has offered fans an update on her health, one year after she suffered a stroke.

Perrette, who played Abby Sciuio for 15 years on the CBS procedural, opened up about the horrifying ordeal in a tweet.

“It’s a one-year anniversary since I had a stroke. And I’m still here.”

Freeform has picked up to series the pilot for its immigration-themed Party of Five, a reboot of the popular 1990s family drama that revolves around Mexican-American siblings. It hails from the original series’ creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman and studio Sony Pictures TV.

Party of Five is one of three hourlong pilots at Freeform, along with Motherland and Breckman Rodeo, all of which have been garnering solid buzz. Party of Five is the first of the bunch to score a series pickup.

Co-written by Lippman, Keyser and newcomer Michal Zebede, the hourlong drama series will follow the five Acosta children (fka Buendia) as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported to Mexico. The series stars Brandon Larracuente as Emilio, Emily Tosta as Lucia, Niko Guardado as Beto and Elle Paris Legaspi as Valentina.

After initially giving a put pilot commitment, Freeform has ordered a pilot for Party of Five, an immigration-themed reboot of the popular 1990s family drama revolving around Mexican-American siblings. It hails from the original series’ creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman and studio Sony Pictures TV.

The original revolved around on the five Salinger siblings who become orphans after their parents are killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver.

The reboot , which has been in development for a long time, will follow the five Buendias children as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported back to Mexico.

Keyser and Lippman will write the pilot, along with Michal Zebede, a first-generation American writer with Costa Rican and Panamanian roots. Rodrigo Garcia is set to direct.

Keyser, Lippman and Garcia executive produce, with Zebede serving as co-executive producer.

Hewitt will have a lead role on the Fox procedural, starring opposite Peter Krause, Angela Bassett and Oliver Stark. She steps in for Connie Britton, who is departing the Ryan Murphy-produced series at the conclusion of her one-year deal.

The introduction of Maddie would help fill the void left by the departure of Connie Britton who played 911 operator Abby Clark in Season 1. Britton had a one-year deal for the show but the producers still hope that she would come back for a few episodes next season to make the transition more seamless. The Party of Five reboot is inching closer to reality.

The cable network Freeform has made a pilot production commitment with Sony Pictures Television Studios for a new take on the ’90s Fox drama, THR.com reports. Original series creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman are spearheading the project.

As previously reported, the new Party of Five is centered on a first-generation Latino family that has immigrated to the United States. The original series, which ran from 1994-2000 and made stars out of Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell and Lacey Chabert, followed the Salinger siblings’ struggles after their parents died in a car crash.
