Details are still emerging about what precisely went down between Taylor Swift and Big Machine president/CEO Scott Borchetta prior to news of the label group’s sale to manager Scooter Braun going public on June 30th, but the ownership of Swift’s master recordings is a crucial component. The superstar entertainer’s catalog, six multi-platinum albums packed to the gills with hit singles spanning country and pop, is clearly a huge asset that helped the label’s valuation.

Diana Ross has left her mark on nearly every genre of music including disco, soul, jazz, pop and dance, as well as the mediums of film and television (who could forget The Wiz and trash classic Double Platinum?) With well over one hundred millions records sold, I assume it would be fair play to class Ms. Ross as a legend.
You would be hard pressed to find anyone that was not familiar with at least a couple of her songs – whether it be from her years in Motown girl group, The Supremes boasting such hits as ‘Baby Love’ and ‘Stop! In the Name of Love’ or her diverse and equally successful solo years.
As the legendary Supreme celebrates her 69th Birthday this week, we have taken a look back at her ten finest solo tracks – from some much loved favourites to forgotten classics.

Well you have to admit that it's a much, much better idea than his casting of Kimmy Kakes in his upcoming film The Marriage Counselor. But Tyler Perry revealed this week that he wants to cast Diana Ross for an upcoming film project. He said: "I have the perfect role for her. (But) I haven't shot that movie yet because I'm waiting for her to say yes...I just wish she would do it." Acccordng to him, the project is his long-ago-announced jazz movie project set in the 1940's, and, in the film, Ross would play a jazz singer who runs a juke joint. When and if she finally does say yes, it would be her first acting role since the 1999 TV movie Double Platinum.

Perry Pens Comeback Movie For Ross
Actor/director Tyler Perry is desperate to work with Diana Ross on her big screen comeback, and has penned a movie especially for the Motown legend.
Ross made a successful transition from singing to acting in 1972, when she played Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues, a film which garnered the star a Best Actress Academy Award nomination.
The former Supremes icon has not acted since 1999, when she appeared in TV movie Double Platinum alongside singer Brandy - but Perry hopes to change that.
He has written a leading role for the superstar in another music-focused film - and insists he will not shoot the project until Ross agrees to come onboard.
When asked who his perfect co-star would be, he tells Hollyscoop.com, "Diana Ross. I have the perfect role for her. And I haven't shot that movie yet because I'm waiting for her to say yes.

I have to admit from the start that the popularity of Dancing with the Stars completely eludes me. It was an interesting bit of fun the first time around, but mainly for its novelty value. There was a nice combination of showcasing famous people, and giving them something to do that was mildly entertaining without being embarrassing simply for the sake of being embarrassing.
The second and third seasons had a few moments of interest, even if the biggest tune-in sell was watching people who weren’t any good, rather than watching any “talent” take shape. Now, however, I just don’t get it anymore. Much like the Circus of the Stars of days gone by, the novelty is over, “Stars” is becoming more and more loosely defined, and we are thus at a point where we have to come clean and admit we’re watching ballroom dancing. And, much...

When I first heard of Joe Hill, some five years ago, my first thought was of the dedication page in one of my favorite novels, Stephen King’s The Shining: This is for Joe Hill King, who shines on. My second thought: Nah. Probably not him.
“Pop Art,” a heart-breaking slice of magical realism about a balloon boy, was being discussed in reverential tones among those who had read it, and his short-fiction collection, 20th Century Ghosts, was, some said, a revelation. Despite the accolades, I wasn’t in a mad rush to read Hill’s writing. In small press Horror circles, high praise sometimes comes a little easier than it should, and is not always to be trusted.
“Have you read Joe Hill?” asked a friend of mine, sounding a little like a Sutter Kane convert from John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness.
