‘Destination X’ Star Josh Martinez Says NBC’s Travel Competition Series Is Unlike Anything Else on TV
Image
When “Destination X” premieres Tuesday night on NBC, host Jeffrey Dean Morgan won’t be the only familiar face viewers will find on this road trip of a lifetime.

That’s because three reality TV alumni are joining the travel competition series alongside nine other fresh meat to the genre — “Big Brother” and “The Challenge” regular Josh Martinez, “The Bachelor” and “The Traitors” star Peter Weber and “Love Island USA” Season 6 fan-favorite JaNa Craig.

Ahead of the “Destination X” series premiere, Martinez opened up to TheWrap about the logistics behind his 12th stint on television, ultimately revealing that this was actually the most challenging show he’s taken on so far.

“For all my other experiences — ‘The Challenge’ is like seven, six, 10 weeks; I did 14, 15 weeks of ‘Big Brother’ — so I’m like, ‘I can do this no problem. It’s six weeks, you’re living on the bus traveling,...

The Challenge risks wearing out its welcome as season 41 sets summer return
Image
Hot on the heels of the April 2025 finale of The Challenge All Stars: Rivals, MTV has some exciting news to share with fans of the history-making franchise.

Never mind risking the possibility of Challenge fatigue, MTV has already went ahead and confirmed the return the longest-running reality competition series on television (according to Paramount) for a landmark 41st season. The Challenge season 41 has been renewed and the new season will begin airing on MTV this summer. The theme and full cast will be announced soon.

Look, I love The Challenge as much as the next fan, but we've gotten two seasons in the past year, and now another's on the way. It doesn't help that the past two seasons have been some of the most dramatic and challenging (no pun intended) to watch. There have been personal dramas and minor scandals that managed to cast a shadow over both seasons.

The Challenge’s Mark Long teases All Stars 6 as ‘best one yet’ with another Og interested in returning
Image
As the status of The Challenge: All Stars 6 remains unknown, Mark Long continues to tease fans with potential cast members who could return.

Viewers just finished watching former Road Rules castmates Adam Larson and Steve Meinke win All Stars Rivals, the fifth season of the spin-off.

In addition, viewers saw former Real World roommates and Battle of the Seasons winners, Frank Sweeney Fox and Sam McGinn, participate in their first installment of The Challenge in many years.

However, the finale didn’t feature host Tj Lavin speaking about seeing fans for another edition anytime soon. However, Mark has remained active in campaigning for the spinoff to get greenlit for another season.

In a message before MTV aired the final episode, he reminded fans that the spin-off wasn’t canceled and called for everyone to watch the Rivals finale.

In addition, he previously revealed that his friend and former castmate, Coral Smith,...

The Challenge’s Frank Sweeney Fox shares why he believes he ‘won All Stars 5’
Road Rules (1995)
After years away from the competition show, The Challenge: All Stars Rivals brought back former Real World roommates Frank Sweeney Fox and Sam McGinn.

While many fans likely didn’t consider them favorites to win the season, Frank’s social gameplay in the house assisted him and Sam in reaching the final and having a shot to win.

However, the final brought difficult circumstances as Sam suffered an injury, making it difficult for her to give the effort Frank might have hoped for.

Ultimately, they finished in third place, taking less prize money than the show’s winners.

Former Road Rules and All Stars 4 castmates Adam Larson and Steve Meinke earned the most money as they finished first.

Frank recently shared why he believes he won All Stars 5 even if he didn’t win the first-place prize money.

The Challenge: All Stars Rivals brought a variety of individuals back to the competition, including former Road Rules castmates Katie Cooley, Adam Larson, and Steve Meinke.

Due to the theme and format, Adam and Steve were partners, following Steve’s sly move to steal Adam’s Star in All Stars 4.

However, the duo co-existed fine on Rivals, endured repeatedly going into eliminations, and ultimately won the season’s grand prize.

They even correctly determined each other’s answer to host Tj Lavin’s twist about splitting or keeping the $250,000 prize.

Following the season finale on MTV, one cast member announced retirement from The Challenge.

Steve, 48, also revealed whether or not he feels he’ll compete again or ride off into the sunset after the big win.

‘The Challenge All Stars’ winner Steve Meinke on redemption, rivalries, and being labeled the ‘boring guy’
Image
The Challenge All Stars: Rivals came to a dramatic end on Wednesday when Adam Larson and Steve Meinke edged out Da'Vonne Rogers and Shane Landrum by just one star to win the $250,000 grand prize. Frank Fox and Sam McGinn finished in third place, with Melissa Reeves and Nicole Zanatta in fourth.

For Steve, winning The Challenge was redemption after he "screwed the pooch" in All Stars 4 by misreading instructions and allowing Laurel Stucky to beat him to the finish line. "It was absolutely embarrassing," he tells Gold Derby (see the video interview above). "If you know me, it's the most Steve way to lose something like this. Not against someone else, but myself."

It was a lesson learned for the 48-year-old Challenge vet. This season, Steve says he was hyperaware of the rules and listened to host Tj Lavin's directions with extreme concentration — even if it made him "look constipated.

‘The Challenge: All Stars Rivals’ Champion Speaks Out: ‘I’ve Had This Phoenix-Like Rebirth’

Until just a couple of years ago, Adam Larson was pretty sure that his reality television days were long behind him. That chapter of his life started in 2001 when he appeared on MTV’s Road Rules: The Quest, and continued through 2007 on Road Rules: Viewers Revenge and various seasons of The Real World/Road Rules Challenge, which later shortened its name to simply The Challenge.

But he returned to civilian life in 2008, found work in the corporate sphere as a brand development manager, working with virtual reality and augmented reality,...

The Challenge’s Mark Long addresses All Stars spin-off’s potential cancellation after insider’s update
Image
Ahead of MTV airing the finale for The Challenge: All Stars Rivals, Mark Long addressed the possible fate of the spin-off series.

Long, who initially debuted on MTV’s Road Rules franchise, became strongly associated with the cause to bring All Stars to life, and his vision ultimately worked.

The initial seasons featured the return of many of the MTV OGs that fans were interested in seeing again, including Trishelle Cannatella, Teck “Money” Holmes, Syrus Yarbrough, Ruthie Alcaide, Beth Stolarczyk, and Katie Cooley.

Additional seasons brought more returning characters, including Tina Barta, Cohutta Grindstaff, Casey Cooper, and Tyler Duckworth.

However, four years and five seasons later, the spin-off’s future seems unclear, as many fans have had less-than-stellar reactions to the latest installment.

Some have criticized the spin-off’s move from Paramount+ to MTV for the first time in five seasons. Others have blamed the cast and lack of entertainment.

The Challenge Season 41 is filming with fans hoping that one of their favorites wins the MTV competition series.

Spoilers continue to share who the show’s winners could be as daily challenges and eliminations occur.

Those spoilers revealed several former winners and finalists as part of the cast, along with many rookie newcomers.

However, that cast quickly got reduced as the weeks passed, and several multi-time champions exited.

The latest update shows more elimination results, including a rookie who went home and one remaining.

In addition, the following Season 41 spoilers reveal two former champions who are no longer in the running to win.

The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras brought back some of The Challenge's best contestants from the first to the latest seasons to determine which era will emerge victorious. The 40th season premiered on MTV to high ratings last year and was arguably deemed the reality show's best season yet. Now, the iconic 40th season of The Challenge will be available to a large audience. According to Variety, The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras is set to debut on Paramount+ on April 23, 2025.

Road Rules (1995)
The Challenge’s Veronica Portillo gets criticized by former castmate again: ‘She will never win’
Road Rules (1995)
Veronica Portillo rose to fame on MTV’s Road Rules and The Challenge with some memorable moments, including her heated altercations and a terrifying near-death experience during a daily challenge.

While fans rarely mention her amongst the show’s all-time greats, she’s a three-time winner, collecting victories in her first season, Challenge 2000, and two later seasons, The Gauntlet and The Inferno.

Viewers have seen her return multiple times in recent editions of The Challenge, including MTV’s Ride or Dies and All Stars Rivals.

While she couldn’t effectively use her strategies during Ride or Dies as Darrell Taylor’s teammate, she’s doing an impressive job so far on Rivals.

Her ability to play the game stands out despite potentially lacking the skills to win physical daily challenges or eliminations. Her former castmate, Wes Bergmann, believes Veronica and several castmates deserve “hazard pay.”

Another former castmate recently indicated...

Many of The Challenge fans have criticized which cast members appear in the All Stars spinoff, and that’s become a more immense contention with All Stars Rivals.

The fifth season of MTV’s spinoff show featured cast members paired with castmates with whom they had a feud or rivalry.

It also is the first season of the spinoff to feature cast members who weren’t only originally from MTV reality TV shows.

Big Brother stars Amber Borzotra and Faysal “Fessy” Shafaat, international Survivor star Turabi “Turbo” Camkiran, and 12 Dates of Christmas’s Corey Lay are competing.

Amber and Turbo are former winners on MTV’s The Challenge, while Fessy is a multi-time finalist.

Corey reached the final of Battle For a New Champion, which was only his second MTV season. He recently defended his participation in All Stars despite his limited history on The Challenge.

The Challenge Stars Who Sadly Passed Away
Image
Throughout its lengthy history, The Challenge has introduced viewers to hundreds of memorable and lovable contestants, some of whom have been honored by the series after their tragic passings. The show premiered in 1998 (then called Road Rules: All Stars), and eventually evolved into Real World/Road Rules Challenge. It finally took on an all-encompassing title, The Challenge. The reality competition show aimed to take stars from two already popular MTV shows (Road Rules and The Real World), and pit them against each other in physical competitions. Fans of the original programs could tune in, and root for their favorite stars in a new setting.

The Challenge's format is unique from other reality TV series because its contestants typically return to compete multiple times. This distinct factor has allowed the stars (and fans of the series) to form long-lasting relationships with those who appear on The Challenge. Following the tragic...

Let the verbal warfare begin! The Challenge: All Stars 5 features the return of many iconic cast members who are not afraid to speak their minds.

Among them is Shane Landrum, who competed in seven seasons of The Challenge on MTV and the spin-off Champ vs. Stars 2.

He’s on the cast of All Stars Rivals, the fifth installment of the spin-off. For this season’s format, everyone’s partner is someone they didn’t always play nice with on the show.

Shane’s partner is Big Brother star Da’Vonne Rogers, who infamously feuded with Shane during The Challenge. Now they’ll try to co-exist to reach the final and win some prize money.

However, with the premiere episode yet to arrive, Shane called out another castmate, Devin Walker.

Based on a video the Road Rules star posted, Devin might be running his fan account online to make himself look like a bigger star.

‘The Challenge’: Laurel Stucky Says Wes Bergmann Is A ‘Liar’

Laurel Stucky from The Challenge claimed that Wes Bergmann is a “liar.” After a conversation with fellow contestant Johnny Bananas where Wes does not believe she is a good contestant, she responds.

The Challenge All-Stars

The Challenge is a popular reality TV competition hosted by T.J. Lavin. Airing on MTV, the show is a spin-off of two other shows from the network, The Real World and Road Rules.
