Music Composer Ravindra Jainn's first Film as Music director. Kishore Kumar found the song Ghungru Ki Taraa( his favourite ) a very difficult song to sing, So he rehearsed many times.The recording started in the morning and was completed at night.
Shashi Kapoor first release opposite Mumtaz after refusing to be paired with her in Pyar Kiya Jaa. Mumtaz had become a huge box office star by 1974.
Shashi Kapoor had a string of flops before the film released. Mumtaz was the biggest star of the country. Shashi had earlier rejected working with her in Pyaar Kiya Jaa because she was a B grade actress. When Chor Machaye Shor was in pre production, Mumtaz could have demanded that Shashi Kapoor be removed from the film. When the film became a hit, it gave Shashi Kapoor's career a new lease for 10 years.
