Austin Nichols Says Filming Kiss With 15-Year-Old Mary-Kate Olsen “Felt Wrong”
Austin Nichols
Austin Nichols has spoken about a moment from early in his acting career that he now views with discomfort. While appearing on the Drama Queens podcast, Nichols described his experience filming a kiss scene with then-15-year-old Mary-Kate Olsen in the 2001 teen movie Holiday in the Sun, saying the situation felt inappropriate at the time.

“I was definitely nervous because Mary-Kate was 15, and I was, I think, 18 or 19, or maybe even 20,” Nichols said. “I don’t remember, but I was too old, and it felt weird, and it felt wrong.”

He explained that although the characters appeared age-compatible on screen, he remained aware of the age difference while filming. “I looked very young, so watching the movie, I don’t think you notice. I’m real tall and skinny and, like, nerdy, but I don’t think you can tell there’s a big age difference. But for my brain,...

Austin Nichols Admits Kissing 15-Year-Old Mary-Kate Olsen In ‘Holiday In The Sun’ “Felt Wrong”
Image
Nearly 25 years later, one of the Olsen Twins‘ leading men is reflecting on the problematic nature of their onscreen romance.

Austin Nichols, who starred alongside the twins in 2001’s Holiday in the Sun, recalled that his kiss scene with Mary-Kate Olsen “felt wrong,” acknowledging that she and Ashley were “children” at the time.

“I was definitely nervous because Mary-Kate was 15, and I was, I think, 18 or 19, or maybe even 20,” he said on the Drama Queens podcast. “I don’t remember, but I was too old, and it felt weird, and it felt wrong. And, you know, I looked very young, so watching the movie, I don’t think you notice. I’m real tall and skinny and, like, nerdy, but I don’t think you can tell there’s a big age difference, but for my brain, was like, she’s 15, this is not, this is weird.”

Nichols continued, “So...

When Quentin Tarantino Made John Travolta Play This Quirky Game Before Offering Him Pulp Fiction: “I Changed His Mind”
Image
Did Quentin Tarantino Make John Travolta Play A Board Game Before Offering Pulp Fiction? (Photo Credit – Prime Video/Instagram)

Before Vincent Vega slicked back his hair and danced his way into movie history, John Travolta literally had to roll the dice. Quentin Tarantino, the mastermind behind Pulp Fiction, had an oddly specific way of casting his Vega. And it all started with a throwback game night.

At a Supanova Comic Con event in Adelaide, Travolta remembered the night Tarantino invited him not to talk scripts or rehearse lines but to play board games based on Travolta’s old hits. “All he wanted to do was spend the evening playing board games of my old movies,” Travolta recalled (in an interview with Nz Herald). “For instance, we played the Grease board game, we played the Saturday Night Fever board game, we played the Welcome Back, Kotter board game.”

Quentin Tarantino had...

Young and Restless Spoilers February 13: It’s all About Damian
Image
The Young and the Restless spoilers for Thursday, February 13, demonstrate how one character can take over an episode…without even being in it.

Next on The Young and the Restless

Ever since Amy (Valarie Pettiford) popped up back in Genoa City and needed Nate (Sean Dominic) to track down his long-lost, heretofore unknown brother for her, it’s been Damian (Jermaine Rivers) all the time. He may not want to know them, but they sure do think they know a lot about him.

Devon (Bryton James) and Lily (Christel Khalil) pop out of the woodwork to lecture Nate on what he should and should not do and how he should or should not feel about the brother he’s just found out about. They warn Nate to be careful. The guy could be anyone who is after anything. What they mean is to keep him away from our family company.

Why Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen Disappeared From Hollywood
Image
If you're of a certain age, you basically grew up with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the twins who took Hollywood by storm from the late 1980s through the mid-2000s. After getting their start on an uber-popular sitcom, the twins were known for their films, many of which brought them all over the world, and it certainly seemed like they were on the brink of forming an enormous entertainment empire. Then, the two basically disappeared from the entertainment industry and shifted their focus to something completely different: high fashion.

So, why aren't the two acting anymore, and what are they doing today? More specifically, why did they leave Hollywood behind for a brand new journey ... and did any of their family members take their place on the big and small screen? (The answer to that last one is yes, actually.) Here's everything we know about the world-famous Olsen twins, why they stopped acting,...

John Travolta's Career-Saving $297M Comedy Movie Franchise Gets Sequel Update From Creator Decades Later
Image
John Travolta's career-saving comedy movie franchise, which made over $400 million at the box office combined, receives a sequel update from its creator decades later. After rising to fame for his role in the sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter, Travolta burst onto the scene during the 1970s with Saturday Night Fever and Grease, which were both big box office successes that capitulated him into superstardom, with the former also earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. However, the following decade wasn't as successful for Travolta.

During the 1980s, Travolta starred in a series of commercial and critical failures that temporarily tanked his career, such as Two of a Kind and Perfect, the former reuniting him with Grease star Olivia Newton-John. Even the Saturday Night Fever sequel Staying Alive, which was a financial success, was scorned by critics and failed to turn his career around. Travolta's career was eventually saved...

Blue Bloods Season 14 Report Card: A Solid Season That Made It Tough To Say Goodbye
Image
I’m still not over Blue Bloods’ cancelation.

I haven’t deleted the series finale from my DVR and have watched bits and pieces of it over again, and can safely say it was one of the best episodes in a season full of them.

Our Blue Bloods Season 14 report card considers that this farewell season didn’t feel like a show going off the air—and that the final episode should have been a season finale, not a series finale.

(CBS/Michael Parmalee)

While a few episodes had a sillier premise than I would like (I’m rarely a fan of Danny partnering up with a random guest star who annoys the hell out of him), every episode offered solid stories and the family values that made Blue Bloods such a wonderful series.

Even the worst episode of Blue Bloods Season 14 was some of the best that television has to offer.

35 Years Ago, The Comedy That Saved John Travolta’s Career Was Almost Canceled: "John Was Box Office Poison"
Image
The comedy that saved John Travolta's career 35 years ago was almost canceled, according to its director, who says "John was box-office poison." The actor rose to fame for his role in the ABC sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter from 1975 to 1979. In the following years, Travolta gained further recognition with two of his most iconic performances in Saturday Night Fever, earning his first Oscar nomination, and Grease, which were both massive box-office hits that propelled Travolta to global fame.

Travolta's success continued into the early 1980s, capitalizing on the growing country music craze with Urban Cowboy. In 1981, he starred in Brian De Palma's Blow Out, which earned critical acclaim, but struggled at the box office, likely due to its somber ending. Following Blow Out, Travolta faced a string of commercial and critical misfires that temporarily derailed his career, including Two of a Kind, Perfect, and the Saturday Night Fever sequel Staying Alive,...

Tom Selleck Is Right About Blue Bloods Ending
Image
Lead actor Tom Selleck's frustration over CBS' cancelation of Blue Bloods is justified. When CBS decided to cancel the long-running police and family drama after 14 seasons, it sparked a massive fan-led protest to save Blue Bloods. However, that failed to move the needle with CBS executives; similarly, the enthusiasm for another season by cast members such as Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, and Gregory Jbara did not convince CBS to give Blue Bloods a reprieve.

Blue Bloods' final season was split into two parts, with the first half airing in the spring of 2024 and the second half set to begin on October 18, 2024. The long hiatus between the two halves of the season gave Selleck and other stars time to try to convince CBS to extend the order to a full season, but unfortunately, this did not materialize, although the network did suggest that a spinoff might be in the works. Thus,...

The 5 Best Episodes Of 2004's The Batman TV Series, Ranked
Image
"Batman: The Animated Series" wound up being as definitive an account of the Dark Knight as its title suggested. So when a new Batman cartoon finally came afterwards, it was destined to never escape the shadow of "Btas." But "The Batman" (which aired from 2004 to 2008) made a noble effort and remains one of the more unique spins on the Caped Crusader.

"The Batman," developed by Michael Goguen and Duane Capizzi, was the first animated Batman in 12 years that was unconnected to the DC Animated Universe (The shared setting that began with "Batman: The Animated Series" and concluded with "Justice League Unlimited").

Bruce Wayne in "The Batman" was voiced by Rino Romano, and Joker by Kevin Michael Richardson, rather than the beloved Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker duo. Bruce Timm modeled "Batman: The Animated Series" on the Fleischer Studios Superman cartoons, while Jeff Matsuda gave Gotham City an anime makeover.

Image
John Travolta’s acting genius is now known to many; however, with a string of success always comes its fair share of setbacks, which even the Grease actor was not immune to. The 1990s were not kind to the actor after a series of box office failures such as Two of a Kind, The Experts, and Perfect.

John Travolta in Pulp Fiction || Miramax Films

Whatever he tried at this point in his career was leading to failure and box-office disasters. But this one movie, directed under the brilliance of Quentin Tarantino, proved to be a career-saving move for Travolta.

While many wondered, it was a miracle in itself that Travolta was even getting cast after his back-to-back debacles; however, Quentin Tarantino had other plans for the actor and approached him for his crime movie Pulp Fiction (1994).

‘Blue Bloods’: Family Drama Became Police Business Ahead of Part 1 Finale
Image
[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 9, “Two of a Kind.”] Blue Bloods is one episode away from its Season 14 midseason finale, and the Friday, May 10, episode opted to end on a happy note with the Reagan family ahead of its upcoming break. The main plot of the episode focused on Danny’s (Donnie Wahlberg) son, Sean (Andrew Terraciano), who was robbed on his college campus. Danny was shocked to find out about the burglary (the assailant stole Sean’s backpack containing his wallet and laptop) at work instead of directly from his son. Sean was scared to admit that the guy got away instead of fending him off himself like his family of cops might. Naturally, Danny wanted his son protected, so he reminded him that stolen items are better than personal injury — or worse. Sean wanted to be a hero like his family members. When he witnessed a classmate being attacked...

Blue Bloods Season 14 schedule, finale date, and more details
Tom Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Donnie Wahlberg, and Will Estes in Blue Bloods (2010)
Blue Bloods returns after a brief hiatus for the final four episodes of Season 14 Part One.

The final season of the hit CBS show has been divided into two parts, with the final eight episodes airing next fall.

Well, that is unless Blue Bloods fans get their wish and CBS renews the show at the last minute, just like with S.W.A.T.

CBS likely won’t decide about the fate of Blue Bloods until next year, but the good news is that the fans have been loud telling the network to “cancel the cancel.”

In the meantime, summer break is on the horizon, bringing the first part of Blue Bloods Season 14 to an end.

Let’s examine what we know about the remaining Blue Bloods Season 14 spring episodes.

Blue Bloods Season 14 schedule and finale date

There are four episodes left in the current season of Blue Bloods. Due to the Writers...

How a 1985 Flop Nearly Destroyed John Travolta’s Career
Image
At the dawn of the 1980s, John Travolta was among the biggest film stars in the world. However, by the end of the decade, Travolta was in desperate need of a comeback.

The most logical explanation for the extended career slump that John Travolta experienced between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s is that Travolta stopped appearing in good films and, accordingly, made the public forget about the electrifying screen presence that Travolta projected in the films Blow Out, Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Urban Cowboy.

Regardless, it stopped being cool to like Travolta. The flashpoint for Travolta’s stunning fall from grace in the 1980s was the 1985 romantic drama film Perfect, which, in addition to being a commercial and critical failure, also had the effect of turning Travolta into a proverbial joke.

After Perfect, Travolta didn’t appear in another feature film until the ill-fated 1989 comedy film The Experts,...

Allison Williams Channeled Elements Of Her Girls Character For Jordan Peele's Get Out
Image
Lena Dunham's "Girls" is the kind of show you either really love or really hate. Meant to capture a specific moment in time, the HBO-produced series follows a group of four young millennial women living in New York City as they try to navigate the trials and tribulations of adulthood. What sounds like a fairly average premise actually became a culture phenomenon thanks to Dunham's so-insufferable-that-she's-maybe-lovable character Hannah Horvath and her group of equally lost and disenfranchised friends. Along with Dunham in the lead role, the show stars Adam Driver (before he became a Hollywood staple) as Hannah's on-again-off-again, definitely abusive boyfriend, and Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Allison Williams as Hannah's friends.

On the show, Williams plays Hannah's best friend Marnie Michaels. Out of the two of them, Marnie is the one who seemingly has her life together, but as the series unfolds, it's clear that Marnie is...

The American French Film Festival Targets Young Audiences With Unique Cultural Exchange
Image
Click here to read the full article.

Film festivals entertain, inspire and often can launch new talent in front and behind the camera. But few festivals, especially in the U.S., run purpose-built programs to develop young audiences.

Going into its 26th edition, the American French Film Festival (the L.A.-based festival focused on French cinema and formerly known as Colcoa) has hosted Southern California high school students since 2008. The festival now opens its theater doors at the Los Angeles DGA to more than 3,000 students a year. This year, the total number of high schoolers to have watched a French film at the festival over the years will tick above 32,000.

It all started with an idea hatched by the American French Film Festival (Tafff) founder François Truffart to invite students to share in the Francophone fun, says Pascal Ladreyt, who heads up the foundation European Languages and Movies in...

Her starring role in “Grease” resulted in many of the most iconic musical numbers in film history, from “Summer Nights” to “You’re the One That I Want.” Newton-John’s musical pedigree and chemistry with Travolta went a long way toward propelling the film to success, and its soundtrack remains one of the best-selling albums in music history.

While “Grease” remained her most notable role, Newton-John continued to parlay her strong musical stage presence into a variety of other film parts. She notably starred in the Electric Light Orchestra musical “Xanadu,” which...

'The Voice' Recap: Live Playoffs Part 1 - Matt McAndrew, Craig Wayne Boyd And More Perform Live
Matt McAndrew, Mia Pfirrman and Craig Wayne Boyd gave standout performances in the first episode of the live playoff rounds of The Voice.

To kick off the live rounds, Carson Daly invited Adam Levine and his band, Maroon 5 to perform “Animals” before talking to coaches Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams about their teams going into the ‘live playoffs.’

Team Blake And Team Adam Perform In Live Playoffs

Team Blake’s Taylor Brashears was the first contestant to perform in the live playoffs, and she went full country with “Long Time Gone.” Taylor impressed the judges with her fancy fiddle playing and unshakable confidence, but the song lacked any truly standout vocal moments. Pharrell complimented her on being able to keep things “fresh and interesting,” and Gwen said she sounded “beautiful” and applauded her for her comfort onstage.

Team Adam’s Chris Jamison was up next, and he...

Jason Bateman Will Direct and Star With Nicole Kidman In The Family Fang
Jason Bateman has earned a reputation as a comedian with his roles in the cult sensation Arrested Development, the bittersweet teen comedy Juno, and the dark and demented Horrible Bosses. But when he's not headlining laffers, he's been directing them. After years of dabbling in directing television shows like Family Matters, Two of a Kind and Arrested Development, Bateman made his feature directorial debut this year with the Andrew Dodge-penned comedy Bad Words. The film, which made its world premiere at September's Toronto International Film Festival, apparently impressed Nicole Kidman in addition to critics, and she's hired Bateman to direct her next project, The Family Fang. Deadline reports that he will not only direct the feature, but will also co-star opposite Kidman, who will produce the pic as well. Based on Kevin Wilson's bestselling novel, The Family Fang centers on a family whose lives are entirely dedicated to...
