La tranchée (1999)

Trivia

La tranchée

Edit
In preparation for the film, Writer and Director William Boyd sent the main cast to a replica trench for a night, to experience the conditions the British Army suffered.
William Boyd has strong family connections to World War I. His great uncle was wounded in the Somme, as was his grandfather at Passchendaele.
Epilogue: "On the 1st July 1916--the first day of the Battle of the Somme--60,000 soldiers were killed or wounded, most of those in the first two hours of the attack. It remains the bloodiest day of slaughter in the history of the British Army."
Prologue: "In the high summer of 1916, in northern France, the British Army prepared for the biggest offensive of the First World War. As hundreds of thousands of troops massed in the rear, waiting for the order to attack, a reduced force was put in place to hold the front line trenches."
Daniel Craig and Ben Whishaw appeared in Layer Cake (2004), Enduring Love (2004), and Skyfall (2012).
