Voltron: The Third Dimension

3D Voltron? Good, but not Excellent...

This series is pretty cool in that it brings Voltron into the '90s. However, it lacks something that I can't really explain. It's like the show just lost the feel that the original series has. Being originally anime, the classic series has some of the Japanese flavor still intact after WEP got it translated for the US. The new show simply doesn't have the same effect. Other than that, V3D is pretty good, but I have yet to see the second season.

Less than successful

Voltron 3D is probably all right for the under ten set and the die-hard fans of the old 80s series, but it's really pretty mediocre. The storylines and dialogue are more reminiscent of Power Rangers, and none of the characters are particularly interesting.

Netter Digital is primarily a special effects house, and it shows. The character animation is awful, especially facial movement. There are some blatant mistakes in terms of design and imaging, that I thought people stopped making five years ago. The space battles and explosions, however, are top notch.

There are some great computer animated series out there. This is not one of them.

Very Entertaining

I remember watching "Voltron: The Third Dimension" every Sunday morning at 8:00 on WB a few years ago. I don't remember much from the show but I do remember that the animation was really good, the characters were realistic and that the episode plots were very entertaining and interesting. I remember waiting for Sunday to come just to watch this show.

"Voltron: The Third Dimension" was a continuation of the show "Voltron: Defenders of the Universe" and featured the same characters. My favorite episode was "The Voltron Force Strikes Back".

I recently read that in May 2000 this show was canceled due to low ratings, causing the CGI animation studio Netter Digital to go bankrupt. This shocked since this was a very good show. I give "Voltron: The Third Dimension" 9/10 stars.

Good series but not as good as 'Defender'

Voltron: The Third Dimension is a good show but not nearly as good as 'Defender of the Universe.' The CGI is excellent. The voices and stories are okay. V3D is not a big disappointment it just doesn't measure up to the original show. V3D is obviously an attempt to cash in on Voltron's popularity, much like Beast Wars and Beast Machines cashing in on the Transformers craze. But that doesn't make the shows bad. Just because they were made for the purpose of making money, doesn't mean they can not be enjoyed. Not as good as 'Defender of the Universe' but still a good show.

A sorry excuse to bring back what was a good Anime

It's a complete hack from the Anime and the CG is vastly over done

Totally rocks...

It's more than a continuation of the previous Voltron shows. It has plot, interesting character developments, and a whole new twist. It's like the original, only better!

This is a great show, but I want the original Keith back!

I think this a great show with real potential. A few things that would make it better; the original Keith (dark hair, brown eyes), more multimedia on the computer, more products available through the computer, a stronger storyline and of course more on the characters of the Voltron Force. People are more interested in the individual characters than just the lions and Lotor's pathetic obsession. I do love Allura better in this series, more strong and independent, a woman of the 90's (soon to be the millennium) :) Good work WEP!

Not anime, but not bad, either

I had mixed feelings when I first saw the 3D Voltron series. It has both good and bad points to it. My biggest beef is with the animation itself. The new look makes Voltron look more like the toy counterparts than a functional robot. Also, I can't get over King Zarkon having been reformed. He was the driving force behind all of the evil in the Denubian Galaxy from the show's inception; why lose that? I was happy to see that most of the original cast had returned for the series, as well as some new faces: Tim Curry makes a great Lotor. And finally, we get to see Voltron form the way he should: fluidly and dynamically to the original score. Bottom line: a good series, but expect changes from the original.

Great computer animation!

Even though it's on at 6:30 am here, I had to watch it! It is a continuation of the original from what I gather and it is some great computer animation. Their uniforms are really good especially the Princess. I'm highly impressed and not disappointed! A must see for everybody, not just the original viewers.

Not bad but...

I would much rather have the old character designs...they age 5 years and suddenly Kieth's eyes are blue? And I kinda wish they could work on different outfits. It would help a lot with the personalities if they could 'dress as they would'.

Opening New Dimensions and Worlds

Voltron has come a long way since its debut in 1984 and in this new incarnation, not only does the series start where it had left off, but brings a whole new feeling to this wonderfully animated show. With the popularity of CGI and 3d Animation, this provided the produces with a new avenue ... to play around with.

Voltron the Third Dimension has everything! Cool CGI! Cool Characters! Cool Robeasts! PLOT! STORY and who can ever forget the villains??? Hey not to mention the updated and very upbeat techno music!

If you are a Voltron fan, this series does the old classic series the justice it deserves!

This is one of the best series ever, far better than Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

I absolutely loved the CGI Voltron, which was made by the same people as the Beast Wars cartoons! In my opinion, Voltron is far superior and a lot more interesting than the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

The special effects are top notch, the costumes, the visuals, all state of the art! I love all of the characters and their cool new costumes in this show!

The new Stealh Voltron is so awesome! In my opinion, every fan of Voltron should purchase Voltron: The Third Dimension on DVD! This is the show to beat! You can purchase this show online everywhere!

As a fan of the show, I highly recommend this show to kids and adults everywhere.

Trendmasters made a set of toys from this show back in the late 1990s, the same time that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers mania was dying down!

By the way, if you're a power rangers fan, check out Zyurangers sentai from Japan, you won't be disappointed!

Down with Americanized Voltron!

This series is quite a disappointment to us real anime fans who like the original anime series, even though I now find it as a hack-up dub. It seems that World Events Productions want cash in the success of Voltron, and so make this Americanized series which the characters are as stupid as the creators who made them.

I hate the character voices, making several characters into idiotic stereotypes, how World Events and its conspirator Netter made Voltron into an animated toy, and worst of all animated the entire series in gimmickry CGI, which the characters look stupid as their personalities. If you are a real Voltron fan, you should not watch this Americanized series, and be manipulated by some "I-like-it-because-its-Voltron" people, who should know better than accept anything as mediocre as this series. Watch the better, but flawed Defender of the Universe instead.

An excellent CGI series!!!

"Voltron: The Third Dimension" is the sequel series to the animated series "Voltron -- Defender Of The Universe" and it is an excellent series.

The storylines are excellent, the voice acting top notch, and the battle scenes are extremely enjoyable. But my only complaint is the facial movements -- some of it didn't look right, but the animators have improved in the second season over the first.

All in all, V3D is a great series and a highly recommended one. My favourite episode is "Dark Heart".
