The theme song for "The Big Bang Theory" is a fast-talking deluge of pseudo-nerdy references that are juuust incorrect enough to drive real-life nerds a little big crazy. The full version of the theme, rarely played in its entirety before the show, included enough brainy references to be clever, however. It talks about bipeds evolving, the continent of Pangaea, and it contains the lyric "Australopithecus would really have been sick of us," which I deeply appreciate. 

The theme song was written and performed by Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies, the authors of the famously wordy 1998 hit "One Week." Gen-Xers can likely recite large portions of "One Week", although only committed Barenaked Ladies fans have memorized the entire thing. Melissa Joan Hart opened up about her friendship with Britney Spears after they co-starred in a music video.

In a retrospective with Entertainment Tonight, the Sabrina the Teenage Witch star looked back on her decades-long career, which began when she landed the title role in Clarissa Explains It All in 1991. A few years later, Hart and Spears worked together on the artist’s “(You Drive Me) Crazy” music video.

“Britney and I got to do a lot of press together. And we had a lot of fun together during this time,” Hart told the publication as she looked back on clips and photos of the two women at that time. The actress shared she felt a sibling-like bond with the then-teen.

In January of 1999, two teen movies opened back to back and kicked off what would be one of the most extraordinary years for youth-oriented movies in the history of Hollywood. Both were No. 1 at the box office their first weekend. Both boasted remarkable casts of rising stars — they even shared a star in Paul Walker. And both whipped ancient genre conventions into new combinations that made them fresh and new. Yet for all their similarities, “Varsity Blues” and “She’s All That” couldn’t have been more different: one an R-rated sports drama that tempered its inspirational coming-of-age drama with surprisingly harsh depictions of misogyny and physical and mental abuse, the other a sweet, good-natured romantic comedy nearly as innocent as a Mickey Rooney-Judy Garland vehicle from the 1940s. In their similarities and differences lies the key to why 1999 was such a great year for movies of their type — the 1939 of teen movies.

Spooky season is upon us and Max is getting in on the action.

New to the streamer in September are “Annabelle” (2014), “Annabelle: Creation” (2017) and “Annabelle Comes Home” (2019), as well as “The Curse of La Llorona” (2019) — all spin-offs from “The Conjuring” universe.

Other horror entries include “It” (2017), “It: Chapter Two” (2019), eight “Friday the 13th” films (from the 1980 cult classic to 1989’s “Jason Takes Manhattan”) and six “Children of the Corn” sequels.

As previously reported, over 200 episodes of AMC Networks’ television series are coming to Max in September at no additional cost to subscribers, spreading their availability beyond AMC+. Shows that are part of the partnership include “Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire” Season 1; ”Dark Winds” Season 1; “Gangs of London” Seasons 1 and 2; “Fear the Walking Dead” Seasons 1-7; “Killing Eve” Seasons 1-4; “A Discovery of Witches” Seasons 1-3; and “Ride with Norman Reedus” Seasons 1-5.

It can sometimes be hard for stars of certain shows to tread a line between their squeaky clean characters and their real-life selves. Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart recently recalled finding this out first hand when she was almost fired from her iconic role for appearing in a racy photoshoot for Maxim magazine in 1999.

While audiences have recently been given a much darker and more mature version of Sabrina in Netflix series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, back in 1996 Sabrina the Teenage Witch was very firmly rooted in the world of a kids’ sitcom.

While speaking on a recent episode of the “Pod Meets World” podcast, hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong showed a picture of Hart posing with Britney Spears at the New York premiere of the 1999 rom-com “Drive Me Crazy”, in which she played Nicole Maris.

Hart recalled of the snap, “If you look at my eyes [in the photo], I’d been crying all evening,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress said how she’d been planning to break up with her boyfriend at the time, so she was upset, as well as having “been up since 4 a.m.” doing press.

Then, once she got to the movie premiere, she remembered being told she couldn’t leave her car until Spears arrived.

Randolph will star as Ainsley Norris, described as “the wild and strong-willed seventeen-year-old daughter of Tommy Norris (Thornton).” Lofland will play Cooper Norris, “Tommy’s son, who is new to the demanding work in the oil and gas fields of west Texas.” Larter will play Angela, Tommy’s ex-wife.

Lil Yachty opened his Saturday Night Live musical guest debut with “the Black seminole.,” the first track off of the album Let’s Start Here, which came out in January.

Yachty’s performance featured singer-songwriter Diana Gordon, and the pair–along with a full band–appeared on stage in what resembled a nighttime Florida swamp.

Amazon’s series version of “A League of Their Own” will debut its eight-episode first season on Aug. 12, introducing new characters and stories set in the historical opening of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (Aagpbl).

Ron Howard’s “Thirteen Lives” tells the real-life story of how a young boys’ soccer team was rescued from the Thai mountain cave where they got stuck for 10 days along with their coach.

Other new film arrivals include hits from earlier this summer, “The Lost City” starring Sandra Bullock, Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt, as well as “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Academy Award-nominated film “Licorice Pizza” also arrives on Prime Video this month.

Britney Spears was clearly shaken up when her Las Vegas show came to an abrupt halt.

While Spears was performing "(You Drive Me) Crazy" on Wednesday night during her concert at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, a man rushed the stage and was immediately apprehended by security. In a video taken from a concertgoer, the security guard can be seen wrestling with the man before body slamming him on the side of the stage. The man is then seen hopping up with his arms flailing, and this time, some of Spears' male backup dancers jump in to help hold him down.

Exclusive: Hong Kong’s Mei Ah Entertainment will unveil several projects at Filmart today, including a co-production with Wong Kar Wai’s Jet Tone Productions titled Drive Me Crazy, and a Boyhood-inspired drama, Growing Up, which will be shot over a period of 15 years.

Drive Me Crazy, a $12m romantic drama scripted by Zhou Jingzhi (The Grandmaster), tells the story of a jilted bride who pays a stranger to take her on a road trip from Beijing to Yunnan.

Chen Chang and Luodan Wang (The Continent) will head the cast of the film, which is currently in pre-production. The director has yet to be confirmed.

Produced by Manfred Wong and directed by Yu Zhong, Growing Up will follow a group of child actors as they grow up in Beijing – with the aim of capturing the growth of the city and China as a country, as well as the children.

It was a sad day for '90s teen-sitcom star Melissa Joan Hart, whose Kickstarter campaign for the movie "Darci's Walk of Shame" was canceled Monday.

Hart's crowdfunding effort hoped to raise $2 million for the project, but after about a month it had collected only $51,605 from a measly 315 supporters. The synopsis for "Darci" describes it as the story of what happens after "an impulsive act has Darci face enormous hurdles to get back to her sister’s wedding and avoid her family witness her first walk of shame."

Hart must have known the project was a bit of a gamble, as her personal message to donors asked them "to do what Hollywood won't, and that is to take a chance on me as the lead of a romantic comedy film." The actress called the movie a "leap of faith" and promised it would remain similar to the same comedy she's served up in "Sabrina,...

Last week, the Internet went crazy expressing either support or ennui after Zach Braff announced he'd be seeking $2 milllion on Kickstarter for his follow-up to "Garden State."
