This Movie Makes Me Ashamed to Be Human

Let's hope no aliens get hold of this footage.

I only watched the first 5 minutes, and part of that was in awe that this was a real movie.

I watched it on Youtube so at first I thought it was one of those bait- and-switch scams where somebody posts some ridiculous home video in place of an actual film just to get some few views and a laugh at people they trick into watching it.

So low budget and low brow,I couldn't take it any longer and I cut it off...

I like dumb comedies as much as the next person, but this...just no.

A black woman drinks a magic potion that turns her white. That is the short version. This sort of thing has been done before, after a fashion, most prominently by Godfrey Cambridge in the 1970 film "Water Melon Man". In racial terms, a lot of water had passed under the bridge since then, especially in America, but a film of this nature could only be a comedy. Well, some would call it comedy.

This is a fairly weak film but its one strength is the wisecracks, including one-liners. To take just two examples:

"Excuse me miss, there's no smoking allowed in this restaurant."

"I'm not smoking aloud; I'm smoking very quietly."

    And, after a few drinks:

    "Stop movin' around."

    "I'm not".

    "I meant the room."

Bob Hope built his career on this sort of thing, so...

    • Trivia
Although originally shot in color, it was released in black and white when it premiered at Universal Studios in 1998. It was soon discovered that the movie would be a bit more commercial if it were in color. So a few years later, director Mark Pirro went back to the original footage and replaced all the black and white footage with its color counterpart. Today, the only version available anywhere is the color version.
