Case of the Red-Eyed Ruby

Besides from the Beary family and woody woodpecker, Walter lantz production also created the short lived series of inspector Willoughby. His series is sort of a mixed bag. Most of the shorts are fine, but not really much more than that. "Case pf the red eyed ruby" is a solid example. Willoughby himself is a fun character, very much like droopy only a little more reserved. Yeggs Benedict is a decent foil, though not much in terms of personality. The premise itself sort of carries the cartoon, with nice backgrounds and solid animation, love you Ray Abrams. Voice acting and music are well done, as per usual. It starts off a little slow in the beginning but picks up pace towards the end, though there's nothing that really stands out about this cartoon, but also nothing to complain about. It's an overall slightly above average short from Lantz during his waning era.
