Joshila

Good Movie

The movie Joshila starts off with an excellent song sung by Kishore Kumnar but loses its plot early on ......... after about 35-40 mins .... it comes back on track ... this time in style . You get to know that its the typical Dev Anand film which is not let u gonna stand up from the seat But during the middle of the movie , the whole superb story seems to be stretched .... the movie could have easily been a super hit if the songs in between the film could have been improvised , the dialogues which were like ( Tera khoon pee jaaoonga ) n the climax which ruined this master - piecs which could have easily attained 10/10 n is getting 7/10 .....

Watch it only if u r a Dev Anand fan or a Yash Chopra fan ...... or otherwise watch his movie Chhupa Rustam ( or Warrant or Bullet or Ishq Ishq Ishq )which also stars him n Hema Malini

Dev Anand and Pran shine

Dev Anand plays a wrongfully convicted person accused of murder. When he gets out of prison, his life gets furthur complicated in a tangled web of romances, treachery and potential murder plot stemming from his past.

Dev Anand plays his role in quite a good manner though the real star has to be the wheelchair bound Pran who doesn't play the villain in this. Some filler romantic scenes and a sad melodramatic family backdrop act as cliches though.

The songs, except for the opening one, are nothing to write home about. Most of classic songs in Dev Anand films were in fifties and sixties. It's a decently paced film and if someone is fan of the either actor, they won't be disappointed.

A masterpiece just gone wrong!

First, Dev Anand and Yash Chopra are like winter and summer, they simply don't go together. Either another hero should have taken the role like Amitabh, Vinod or Dharmendra. Or the film should have been directed by Dev Anand's miracle worker and younger brother, Vijay Anand. While watching the film you will ask yourself, did Yash Chopra really make this? The guy behind such great classics. What came over this guy to direct this?

The story is all over the place, if the story was tied up a little bit maybe Yash Chopra could have got away with it. The best phrase I could call this film is 'Johnny Mera Naam wannabe', Gulshan Rai obviously wanted to repeat his success. None of the songs are memorable which is very odd for a Yash Chopra film. The performances are so-so, I've seen better from Dev Anand in films like Bullet, Des Pardes and Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Hema Malini doesn't do justice to her role and Rakhee only has 10 minutes in the film! The villains are the usual routine, typical 70's stuff!. If there is anyone worth mentioning it probably Pran, Pran being one of the best performers in Bollywood really does his task well.

Overall, nothing special at all. Don't waste your money on buying a DVD (it could be worth rental money) but depends if your a hardcore fan of Yash Chopra.

Excellent Entertainer!

A well tailored eventful story full of surprises and turns, good sincere actors, dramatic prrsentation, well sung and orchestrated excellent songs with matchless lyricsmade the movie an unforgettable experience for the viewers. It was a spell bound curiosity in the watchers' minds that kept amused with lovable background score and wonderful performances. The songs were popular before the movie relased. Derv Anand's magic was intact even after 37 years of his career giving tough competition to the same year release teenage love story Bobby. Yash Chopra was a master craftsman of Bollywood who knew how to present a story in the best manner! Just superb!!
