Dhund (1973)

Trivia

Dhund

Edit
The plot of this film is roughly inspired by the Agatha Christie play "The Unexpected Guest".
Danny Denzongpa's role was first offered to Amitabh Bachchan.
The film made Danny Denzongpa a star. The scene where Danny flings and breaks a plate, accidentally went towards the camera. This caused the shot/ scene to have a 3D feel with the plate coming right towards the audience. It was right at that moment, Danny would win the audience and would end up taking full credit for the film becoming a hit.
Danny was first suppose to do Madan Puri's role. But he was very insistent that he play the husbands role. The problem was Amitabh Bachchan was already signed for the film. Danny felt extremely rejected. Later Amitabh left the film as after Anand he no longer wanted to do character roles. Shatrughan Sinha was then signed for the role. Danny was still hopeful the role would come to him. One day B.R.Chopra had a story session with Shatrughan Sinha. But Sinha arrived late and this annoyed Chopra to no end. He decided to remove Shatrughan from the film. Danny had a friend who was a assistant director to Chopra. He secretly told Danny about the latest development and Danny decided to approach Chopra again . Danny did a make up test for the role and B.R.Chopra finally agreed to let him do it. Another change Danny suggested was to have his character's role appear before the intermission and not after. B.R.Chopra finally agreed and made the change to the script.
Dhund was the first film Sanjay Khan and Deven Verma signed after their fight years earlier. In the mid 60's Sanjay was at the Sun N Sand hotel and was surrounded by several blonde women. Deven Verma decided to crack a joke and say "The Khan brothers were all a tourist attraction at the hotel". Sanjay grabbed Deven's collar when Shammi Kapoor's brother in law Raghubir Singh broke up the fight. Years later Sanjay apologized to Deven at the premiere of Ek Phool Do Mali.
