One Star Extra For Sadashiv Amrapurkar aka Maharani

To be honest I never intended to give review of this movie but some un-expected response from my insta account, here I share with you my thoughts about Sadak. One of the popular and highest grossers of 1991,the film looks pretty ordinary in 2020. A hero rescuing his love from Antogonists is surely we've seen many times with multiple plots. The only thing for which I can argue or recommend you to go and watch this 2hours romantic action flick is the outclass performance of Late Sadashiv Amrapurkar as Maharani a Transgender running a brothel and is the main Antagonist of the movie. Almost 30years ago a one cannot aspect this type of bold performance and so straight forward brutal dialogues which gives you chill. Sadashiv's one of the most powerful character that he has played on screen is surely Maharani for which this underrated actor got Filmfare for best actor in a negative role. So people from late 90's and 2000's again I would suggest you that if you wanna see a hell of a character you should go an watch Sadak and look for Maharani.

Only Saviour of this film is Kumar Sanu's Songs

It was an unofficial remake of Hollywood classic Taxi Driver but it was disappointing. Performance wise Sanjay dutt was good but other actors were too loud. Only memorable thing is the music and no one can deny that Kumar Sanu again made this film a hit with his melodious numbers. Songs are evergreen till today and will always be.

Made Better But Could Made More Better!

Ravi a taxi driver who met a lady on road and they made fall in love with each other. Then she sold to maharani for not repay loan on time. Ravi always tries rescue to save him form maharani. So it's basically a revenge drama romance action film but it is easily predictable in case of story/screenplay. Great songs but bgm in end is drastically sound.

a beautiful romance

This is a beautifully crafted movie which also made some controversies at the time it was made, as the actress in the lead role was the director's daughter. But the cast was so well done that each of the characters got the perfect actor they can get for the role. The villain was not a 6 foot muscle man, but a eunuch played by sadashiv amrapurkar. The main role's background, his life and issues were portrayed well off and it was a heart touching romance to watch. Ravi (sanjay dutt) desperately tries to 'buy' pooja (pooja bhatt) from the hands of the vicious villains brothel, and the hardships he has to go through at each points can be literally experienced while watching the movie. It was both a hit at the time of release (credit goes to melodious songs), and also a heart touching romance.

Shameless rip off of Taxi Driver

The story and acting only works in parts and can't match the original in any department. Better see Taxi Driver than wasting time on cheap rip-off.

great!

the film i thought was quiet funny because of the villain in which makes you laugh. The only reason i watched this film was because of the songs which were famous at the time, songs like 'Tujhe Apna' and 'Rehne Ko'are songs to be remembered. The film deals with a lot of issues like love, death, nightmare, kill, murder and steal. The film starts on a taxi driver who works day and night but not for money but to take away the images of his sisters death in which he wants to forget.the story it self is good written by Robin Bhatt but some credit has to go to the talented director Mahesh Bhatt!!!Performances,Sanjay it has to be and then Pooja Bhatt, but she did do a great job!

One amazing movie from our beloved "Raghu".

Whenever they release a reboot or sequel, I go back and watch the original old one and then I wonder how come they even thought about going for that. Even the same actors can match their old performances, be it any reason for their signing the new movie. Baba is not supposed to be that calm elderly and sophisticated person. The role in the new movie doesn't do justice to him even let alone matching with the old movie. #Sadak vs #Sadak2
