The Bonfire of the Vanities tackled heavy themes like social class and race in its gritty and dark narrative. That's how the story was depicted in the novel, but the 1990 movie adaptation, starring Tom Hanks and Bruce Willis, went on a completely different trajectory.
Per Variety, director Brian De Palma's The Bonfire of the Vanities is now streaming for free on YouTube. The 1990 comedy joined Warner Bros. Entertainment's YouTube playlist of 31 movies, which includes classic and contemporary films like The Wind and the Lion, Death Trap, Mr. Nice Guy, Michael Collins, The Science of Sleep, and The Big Tease.

In a bold and time-relevant move that is sure to delight movie fans, Warner Bros. Entertainment has made 31 of its full-length movies available for free on its YouTube channels, including 2000's Dungeons & Dragons, and the Jackie Chan movie Mr. Nice Guy. The refreshing approach to content distribution, however, is a strategy that aims to boost visibility and generate digital ad revenue, with the additional benefit of making a diverse range of cinematic gems accessible to a wider audience.
According to Variety, ever since 2025 began, the entertainment giant has quietly been dropping movies on its Warner Bros.-owned YouTube channels, all available to stream for free. Of course, the movies still include ads for those who do not own a YouTube Premium subscription. These movies include a mix of genres and eras, with titles like the 1935 adventure Mutiny on the Bounty, the 2002 sci-fi comedy starring Eddie Murphy, The Adventures of Pluto Nash,...

Warner Bros. Discovery may not be ready to launch a free ad-supported streaming TV (Fast) service of its own just yet, but the company is on the lookout for ways to boost its digital ad revenue. Its latest tactic is to add free movies to YouTube. Wbd has put more than 30 full-length films on the social video platform to stream at no cost, as long as you don’t mind putting up with a few commercials.
Key Details: Movies featuring Kevin Bacon, Chevy Chase, Robert De Niro, and other stars are streaming free on YouTube. None of the films are currently available to stream on the company’s platform Max. Wbd licenses plenty of content to Fast platforms, but has made no public progress on its own Fast platform. Sign Up $9.99+ / month max via prime video
The list of movies from Wbd that are now available to stream free on YouTube can be seen here.

Movie lovers, rejoice! Warner Bros. has quietly made 31 full-length movies available to stream for free on YouTube. This move allows viewers to enjoy classic and lesser-known films without a subscription, though they do come with ads unless you have YouTube Premium.
Over the years, Warner Bros. has experimented with different ways to make money from its vast catalog of films. It launched FilmStruck, a subscription streaming service, in 2018, but shut it down less than a year later. Since then, the company has focused on licensing movies to free, ad-supported platforms like Roku and Tubi.
Now, Warner Bros. is trying a new approach—releasing movies directly on YouTube. This move allows the studio to generate revenue through digital ads while making films more accessible to a wider audience.

Over the years, Warner Bros. has tried to monetize its catalog of older movies through different subscription streaming services, including FilmStruck — which it shut down less than a year after it launched in 2018.
Now, Warner Bros. Entertainment has quietly taken a new approach to bringing its content to YouTube to farm its film catalog for digital ad revenue.
Since the start of 2025, the company has released 31 movies on Warner Bros.-owned YouTube channels, all available for free. The movies include ads, unless you are a YouTube Premium subscriber. Warner Bros. has published a YouTube playlist with the free movies, available at this link.
The titles are varied and cut across genres, with some films on the list dating back decades. In a very uncharacteristic move by Warner Bros., the studio has uploaded 31 movies to stream on YouTube for free. There is a perception that those who are watching a movie via a streaming service over going to the theater, is that it's free to do, despite paying a monthly subscription. Those streaming platforms are more costly than ever, and people are starting to make cuts to what could be a must-have service. Yet, a movie on YouTube that can be watched for free with no rental fee or any commercials, is something Warner Bros. is looking to offer movie fans with titles like the first Dungeons & Dragons, Mutiny on the Bounty, and the Jackie Chan-led Mr. Nice Guy.

After spinning its wheels for a couple of episodes, Supergirl gets right back on track with this anger-themed instalment...
This review contains spoilers.
1.6 Red-Faced
We're back in the correct timeline on Supergirl after a couple of weeks of muddled chronology, and thankfully this episode is more like some of the show's stronger efforts than last week's pretty underwhelming How Does She Do It? It's finally building up enough momentum for its thematic elements to evolve beyond the basic, kid-friendly messaging that's been present since the pilot, and that's more apparent than ever in Red-Faced.
The issue of the week that Kara must overcome is anger, and how she expresses that anger at work, in her personal life and out in the field as Supergirl. After scaring some kids while saving them from a dangerous driver and exploding at Cat after a particularly harsh slew of criticisms, Kara decides (or,...

In light of The Flash’s game-changing finale Fast Enough, it’s probably time to learn about DC’s parallel universes...
This article contains big spoilers for The Flash’s season 1 finale, Fast Enough.
The Flash's first season has now drawn to a close with Fast Enough, a finale that wreaked havoc both on fans' emotions and assumptions about the programme's future. More so than any superhero season finale in recent memory, Fast Enough appeared to shatter its show’s status quo to smithereens.
Eddie is dead, and as a result, Eobard Thawne should have been wiped from the timeline. Eobard, the main villain of the series – the character that gave Barry and so many others their powers – now no longer exists. Given that Eddie is his ancestor, Eobard should have never existed at all, now that Eddie has died prematurely and put an abrupt stop to the growth of his family tree.

Back in 1993 that’s all it took for Jurassic Park to become the most eagerly anticipated film of the decade. Hop forward what seems an evolutionary blink to April 2014 and we’ve just had the millionth trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 threaten to pummel us into vast apathy for a film which looks to be good old blockbuster fare. So why have studios taken this dumbed down, multi-format saturation approach to marketing their films? One which may have an adverse effect on audience appreciation and enjoyment of the final film?

Just because Peter Jackson is holed in his native New Zealand filming pick-ups for the final two films of his Hobbit trilogy, doesn't mean he's forgotten about the fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of the second film, The Desolation of Smaug. To kick off the countdown to the movie's release on December 13, Jackson posted a first teaser poster on his official Facebook page.
Focusing once again on Martin Freeman's titular character, the poster sees Bilbo standing just outside the incredibly imposing but ruined entrance to the Lonely Mountain, aka the final destination of the first film's Unexpected Journey. The big tease here comes not in the location of our hero but in the glimpse of fire and billowing smoke at the heart of the image. That tell-tale glow seems to be the only sign Jackson's prepared to give us of the cunningly dangerous creature within.

1. How would you describe this week in one word (or two, or three, or four)?
Doug: Together in separation.
Christine: Walk away.
Steve: Unconventional.
2. What was your favorite quote or scene from "Damned If You Do?"
Doug: I actually laughed out loud when Franks started shooting the fish. The grin on Gibbs' face was pretty cool to see too.
Christine: Admiral Aj Chegwidden! As a fan of Jag, the show NCIS spun off from, I was positively giddy when he walked in as Gibbs attorney. These two are kindred spirits. Heck, "Aj" even stands for Albert Jethro!

“Written by Craig Ferguson.” There’s a credit you don’t see so often these days, though he has crafted scripts before, working on the likes of The Big Tease and Saving Grace. But while he’s largely penned comedy in the past, Ferguson has switched tracks into thriller territory for Last Man Out, which has Pierce Brosnan attached to star.Adapted by Ferguson and Ted Mulkerin from Stuart Neville’s revenge-thriller tome The Twelve, Last Man Out follows a former Ira hit man who is released from prison after 20 years.Haunted by his crime and the memory of the people he killed, he decides he can find no peace until he brings down vengeance on the people who ordered those murders on behalf of the victims. What is it with assassins growing consciences these days?Terry Loan is cranking the cameras, although while the project is being sold at Berlin’s film market,...

Bethesda Softworks has teased the next piece of downloadable content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, with the promise to reveal all on November 5th.
The big tease came today via the publisher’s Twitter account with the message “Full Trailer on 11/5″, the above picture, and… nothing else.
Presumably this will be Skyrim‘s unannounced Dragonborn Dlc that was leaked out of the 1.8 beta last month, but that is just speculation at this point.
We will let you know as soon as the trailer drops next Monday. For now, the only thing we can say with certainty about this mystery Skyrim Dlc is that it will never be released for the PlayStation 3 in our lifetimes. Why? Because, much like Team Ico, Bethesda has not yet figured out how to properly develop games for Sony’s console.

We all love The Karate Kid. No, not the ridiculously long remake that featured Kung-Fu instead of Karate despite its name, we're talking the original, man! Why are we talking about that? Because some interesting Hitchcock casting news has just broken.

Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of ‘Psycho’, the story of how Hollywood’s legendary master of suspense made one of the seminal horror films of all time, has begun production, according to a new announcement from Fox Searchlight Pictures and Montecito Pictures.
The film — starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Dame Helen Mirren — also has a new, one word title. It will simply be called Hitchcock. If you hadn’t noticed already, Hollywood has a current preference for one-word titles. This one happens to work for us.
The film will be directed by first-time helmer, Sacha Gervasi. Production will begin in Los Angeles on Friday.
Gervasi co-wrote Steven Spielberg’s 2004 film The Terminal and also won the Best Documentary award at the 2010 Independent Spirit Awards for Anvil! The Story of Anvil.

The entertainment site Ugo has managed to nab the Superbowl trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender before its television debut. Based on the popular animated TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender, the movie tells the story of Aang (played by Noah Ringer), the last of the peaceful Air Nomads, and his quest to defeat the Fire Nation and bring balance to the world. "Avatar" was dropped from the title for obvious legal reasons related to a certain little James Cameron movie that's popular right now.

Keanu Reeves will star in "Henry's Crime," a romantic comedy directed by Malcolm Venville. He plays a man with a big heart who is suddenly falsely accused of robbing a bank in Buffalo. Filming will take place in Buffalo and Reeves is producing alongside Stephen Hamel via their Company Films banner. There is no distributor set as yet for the film. Sacha Gervasi ("The Terminal," "The Big Tease") writes the screenplay. Reeves was last seen in the sterile "The Day The Earth Stood Still" sci-fi remake. He can be seen next in "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" which opens in limited areas on October 13th. That film stars Robin Wright Penn, Mike Binder, Alan Arkin and Winona Ryder.

It doesn’t matter how many times Jack Tretton says that 2008 was a banner year, full of momentum and good times, for the Playstation family. There’s no escaping the truth: times are tough for Sony. The PSP continues to sell while its software continues to stagnate. The Playstation 2 enjoyed an Indian summer when its priced dropped, but the system has undeniably entered its twilight. And the Playstation3? Well, growing your audience by forty percent is all well and good but that audience is still very small compared to those of your competitors. Sony needed a big show at E3 2009 and, while the actual show dragged here and there, they had a giant one. Here’s the breakdown.

This week, the world of late night television experiences its biggest shakeup in years, as Jimmy Fallon takes the reigns of NBC's "Late Night" from Conan O'Brien, who, at the start of June, will take over "The Tonight Show" from Jay Leno, who moves on to start his own talk show at 10pm. With talk show hosts on our minds these days, it seemed like a good time to look back and see how they've fared on the silver screen.
Qualifications for inclusion were simple: the talk show host in question has to be best known -- and most successful -- in their show business career as a talk show host. Craig Ferguson, current host of CBS' "Late Late Show," carved out a long and successful career as an actor and director of such films as "The Big Tease" before accepting the slot after David Letterman, so he was out.

Steve Zallian and Sacha Gervasi have teamed up for My Dinner With Herve, a biopic of Herve Villechaize. Gervasi, whose previous writing credits include The Big Tease and The Terminal, will write and direct the film, with Oscar winner Zallian producing. Gervasi conducted the last interview with the 3' 11" French actor just days before he committed suicide. "Steve read the script as a short ten years ago and always believed it would make a compelling feature," Gervasi (more)...

Eclectic mix practices Sundance steps
Sundance will bring a reliable cast of characters when it opens Thursday. Sam Rockwell will hobnob at the Riverhorse. Robert Redford will endorse indie film at the Eccles. John Sloss will manage wee-hour buyer visits to the Cinetic condo.
But this year's festival will bring a few sights that might make seasoned attendees drop their badges. A number of unlikely Sundance types -- from big studio producers to a television production banner to the son of a former Disney CEO -- are making their way to Park City.
Sundance, the specialty world's blend of trade show and high school reunion, always brings together an unlikely mix. Partying college students, European directors, swag culture and specialty execs all bump up against one another. You might be at a Miramax party and Tara Reid might happen in, grind on the dance floor for five minutes and leave. And you might watch her for a few minutes, then turn back to Daniel Battsek and continue your conversation about the auteur theory.
But even by the eclectic standards of Park City, this year will see some unusual players in the fray.
Producer Mark Johnson, best known for such big studio productions as The Chronicles of Narnia and Rain Man, is involved with two films at the festival: the Southern melodrama Ballast and the Maria Bello missing-wife saga Downloading Nancy.
Sacha Gervasi's only film credits are screenwriting the Warner Bros. hairdressing comedy The Big Tease and Steven Spielberg's Tom Hanks/Catherine Zeta-Jones vehicle The Terminal. But he is rolling the dice with no distributor on his directorial debut, the low-budget docu Anvil! -- billed as a nonfiction version of This Is Spinal Tap.
Barry Levinson and Art Linson, both veteran studio talents, will be at the festival with 2929's Hollywood spoof What Just Happened? starring Robert De Niro. And Rawson Marshall Thurber, who directed the hit comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and is attached to Imagine's big-screen version of Magnum, P.I., will unveil The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Groundswell Prods.' literary adaptation of the Michael Chabon novel.

MGM deposits director Allen into 'Banks 2'
As the result of a budgetary impasse, MGM has found another director for its sequel to Agent Cody Banks. Kevin Allen, who directed Warner Bros. Pictures' 1999 hairdressing comedy The Big Tease, is in final negotiations to come aboard to helm Agent Cody Banks 2. He is replacing Harald Zwart, who filmed the original and was on tap to handle the sequel. But Zwart stepped down during the weekend because of budgetary concerns. Banks 2 begins shooting next month in London, with Dylan Sellers and David Nicksay producing with Splendid Pictures and Maverick Films.
