As a kid when I came across Kamen Rider Black it was fantastic the show is dark despite some mess up things that I saw in there that I would still remember about how it all started until the end. I think this show is a masterpiece and highly recommend to be wroth the watch and with a good story telling. 10/10.
I was only 8 years old when 'Kamen Rider Black' first came out, and I've been a huge fan ever since. I just bought the DVD sets a few weeks back, and man, they are good, even after all these years. Just about everything in the 'Kamen Rider Black' are great, it's a classic to me. All Kamen Rider Black fans should get the dvd sets right away. I also bought the Kamen Rider Black RX series, and I have to say that I don't like it as much as the original, it's just not as good.
If you don't want kamen rider show that isn't too light or dark well this show is for you.
This tv show is simply amazing. I've always been a huge fan of the Kamen Rider series, but "Kamen Rider Black" is by far the greatest Kamen Rider series to date. All Kamen Rider fans say it's one of the best, but many say it is the best. Tetsuo Kurata makes his acting debut as Kotaro Minami, aka Kamen Rider Black. Kurata-san makes a wonderful debut, you would have thought he's been acting his whole life. He was only 17 when KR Black first started. The plot, and the action is almost flawless. And the special effects are ahead of it's time. Only one complaint, the previous Kamen Riders don't even make a guest appearance in Black, but they do appear at the end of the next series, Black RX, for a handful of episodes.
I'm a new Kamen Rider fan who's only in his early 20s, so I only recently watched Black. Most KR fans I talked to said that Black was really good, but also warned me about how dated it was. I'm very glad I chose to watch it anyway!
The plot features Kotaro Minami (Played by Tetsuo Kurata) directly after escaping from Golgom, a cult that kidnapped and experimented on himself and his adoptive brother. The story, when it shows up, is very good and kept me entertained the whole way through. The one downside to the storytelling style is how "Monster of the Week" it feels. Most of the time, this isn't an issue. but keep in mind that some episode's villains are more entertaining than others. The soundtrack is fantastic, and my friends and I got genuinely pumped up when the Henshin or Fight themes came on. The acting is pretty typical for the Showa era Riders, which is to say that while the main character and main villains are fantastic, some of the supporting cast and side characters are...not. I personally find that this adds to the charm of the show. ONE LAST WARNING, if you are prone to seizures/epileptic, TREAD CAREFULLY. This is an old show with old special effects, meaning extremely bright flashing lights and high contrast. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the show nearly as much as I did!

- TriviaThe first Kamen Rider series created by Shotaro Ishinomori alone. Franchise co-creator/former producer Tôru Hirayama was involved early in production (and was in a conference with Toei Studios executives and a group of fans, to discuss ideas for a new Kamen Rider movie, which instead resulted in this series), but was ultimately uncredited. This may also explain the lack of Gorgom having henchmen (which were a staple of Hirayama's in all past entries). Instead, in a few cases, Black fights multiple clones of one monster, as was the case in the first episode.
