Lyudmila Gurchenko became famous as a comedic actress in the musical genre while still very young. This was during the 1950s, and in the 1960s, she found herself sidelined as new cinema replaced the old. She was remembered in the 1970s when, as a mature woman, she emerged as a magnificent dramatic actress capable of conveying tragedy. In this film, she showcases drama, comedy, and a touch of tragedy-one of her performances that highlights her range as an actress.
Her nuanced acting, emotional swings, and excellent dramaturgy make for a wonderful film. This statement reflects the despair of a specific female midlife crisis, which remains relevant today, despite society having made significant strides away from patriarchy since then.

For those ever dumped by a lover, fiancee, boyfriend or girlfriend this movie is recommended viewing. It shows that life goes on. The film is also full of wonderful little snippets of Soviet culture in the Ukrainian city of Odessa.
