Chennai, June 17: Tamil filmmaker K. Balachander has lauded the efforts of the makers of "Thillu Mullu", a remake of his own film of the same name starring superstar Rajinikanth, saying the new version is apt for the audiences of this generation.

The 1981 "Thillu Mullu" was an official remake of Hindi classic "Golmaal" featuring Amol Palekar.

"I'm happy the makers have taken efforts and made my film into a commercial entertainer. The remake is completely new to me but director Badri has made it in such a way that it's apt for the current generation of cinemagoers," said Balachander in a statement.

The remake features Shiva, Isha Talwar and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. It's the story of the protagonist who lands.

Based on the 1981 Tamil comedy "Thillu Mullu", comes the new version of the film with the same name that appears to be a half-hearted tribute to the original.

One of the glaring differences between the two versions is the treatment of comedy. While in the original it was sensible and funny, it is loud and commercial in the remake. Despite a few rib-tickling moments between Shiva and Prakash Raj, "Thillu Mullu" suffers due.

Chennai, June 9: Shiva-starrer forthcoming Tamil comedy "Thillu Mullu", a remake of superstar Rajinikanth's cult comedy of the same name, has been cleared with a U-certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification.

The Rajinikanth-starrer 1981 Tamil comedy "Thillu Mullu" was the official remake of Hindi film "Golmaal" featuring Amol Palekar. It has been again remade with the same name, but with an all-new cast.

"The censor board has given a 'U' certificate with no cuts to 'Thillu Mullu'. It'll release worldwide June 14," said a statement from the production house.

Produced by S. Madhan, "Thillu Mullu" also features.

Vendhar Movies heads to Geneva for three movies' audio launch

Chennai, May 28: Vendhar Movies, one of the leading distributors in Tamil cinema, will have audio launch of its three Tamil films "Thillu Mullu", "Sutta Kathai" and "Nallanum Nandhiniyum" in Geneva, scheduled to take place June 1.

"For the first time in Tamil cinema, Vendhar Movies is releasing the audio of their three new films on international soil, Geneva," said a statement.

"The event will be held at a palace named Victoria, which has been gifted by Queen Elisabeth to Geneva, and Vendhar Movies takes the pride in releasing their films' audio at this palace," added the statement.

Chennai, March 30: The shooting of the remake of superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Tamil comedy "Thillu Mullu", which itself is a remake of Hindi blockbuster "Gol Maal", has been completed. The remake is also titled "Thillu Mullu".

"Thank god and the whole unit we finished "Thillu Mullu" shooting. Hope we did a justice to the real one. Cheers," Shiva posted on his Twitter page.

Shiva and Isha Talwar play the lead in the film, which is directed by debutant Badri. It also features Prakash Raj, Mano Bala, Kovai Sarla, Sathyan, Soori and Santhanam in important roles.
