The company screened nine minutes from “Qodrat 2,” the sequel to its hit 2022 film, with director Charles Gozali, producer Linda Gozali, editor Teguh Raharjo and newly-joined executive producer Dian Sastrowardoyo in attendance at the sold-out Jaff event.

Magma is also world premiering horror film “The Damnation” (“Tumbal Darah”), its first co-production with Wahana Kreator and Sinemaku Pictures, at Jaff. The film stars Martino Lio and Shallum Ratu Ke. Producer Salman Aristo cited Magma’s openness to “authentic stories” and creative freedom in the horror space.

NBC’s La Brea season two episode 11 is titled “The Wedding” but there’s a lot more going on besides the exchange of I Dos. Episode 11 opens with Caroline (Melissa Neal) and her dad, Silas, going over Dr. Moore’s notes, hoping they’ll lead to a solution on how to send Gavin and his family home. They’re not making any progress and are worried Gavin will turn to James for help. Silas (Mark Lee) regrets that he failed to protect Gavin from James all those years ago and dedicates himself to working on Moore’s notes.

He sends Caroline back to the camp to watch over her son. Seconds after she walks away, Silas is shot. The shooter picks up the now blood-spattered notes and leaves without showing their face.

Based on an original idea by co-director Víctor Matellano, this black-and-white anthology film opens on Halloween night as children trick-or-treat. Gravedigger Mister Fettes (Saturnino García), preferring to be called Vampus, feels unappreciated for his work. He holds a sour outlook on the world, as established when he reads a news story about a hipster being stabbed 45 times and reacts by saying it wasn’t enough.

Matellano directs the wraparound segments, where Vampus acts as a storyteller to the audience in a manner resembling The Cryptkeeper. He also encounters many people whose lives he ends at the slightest irritation, before feeding them to his ghoulish pet named Toby. It’s constantly entertaining to watch this ill-tempered gravedigger that García terrifically brings alive.

Poorna Jagannathan, Nikohl Boosheri (Freeform’s The Bold Type) and newcomer Catharine Daddario will star in Alia’s Birth, an indie drama from Sam Abbas. It’s about a rocky relationship between a female couple that forces them to spend the night apart. Abbas will producer under his company ArabQ Film, an Arab-based Lgbtq-focused production company, along with Tatiana Bears, Nicole Townsend, and Neal Kumar. This marks the second feature from ArabQ Film after making its debut with The Wedding, which also starred Boosheri. Anacrónica, a newly formed production company in Bolivia led by actors Quim Del Rio and Nakai Mirtenbaum, will team with ArabQ Films on this project. Executive producers are Randelson Floyd, Suki Sandhu, David Klein, Josh Jupiter, Jorge Quintero, Lucky Cheng, Quim Del Rio, and Nakai Mirtenbaum. The project is set to begin shooting this summer in New York.

Following the launch of his production company ArabQ, the first ever Arab-based production company focused on movies with Lgbtq themes, Egyptian-American filmmaker Sam Abbas will soon release his first feature film. Based in Alexandria, Egypt, ArabQ aims to develop projects speaking to the Middle Eastern experience while also supporting Lgbtq stories and creatives.

“The Wedding” tells the story of Rami (Abbas), a closeted Muslim man hiding his sexuality while preparing for his upcoming wedding to Sara (Nikohl Boosheri), as he struggles to square his desires with his strict religious upbringing. Abbas explored similar territory in his 2016 short film, “Time to Come,” which received enough praise to convince him the subject was worth further exploration.

“It was a no-brainer. We knew we could make it happen,” exclaims Eric McCormack about the successful revival of NBC’s “Will and Grace” this past season. The series, which originally aired from 1998 to 2006, returned to the peacock network in the fall and has already been renewed for two additional seasons. McCormack’s performance as fastidious attorney Will Truman earned him four Emmy nominations for Best Comedy Actor, winning once in 2001. In our exclusive webcam interview (watch the video above), McCormack discusses that Emmy win and how returning to play Will was “like putting on a very comfortable pair of shoes.”

“Will & Grace” was well-known for its cavalcade of guest stars during its original run, gobbling up double-digit Emmy nominations, and even wins for Bobby Cannavale (2005) and Leslie Jordan (2006). The NBC sitcom hasn’t missed a step in this revival season, bringing back many old favorites while also introducing multiple memorable characters from new guest stars. But the Season 2 finale of NBC smash “This Is Us,” titled “The Wedding,” was a ratings bonanza, and featured an imaginary flash-forward (revealed to be a recurring Kate dream) in which Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) was still alive and renewing his wedding vows with Rebecca (Mandy Moore).
