There is nothing more human than expressing disappointment, since so many say it's best not to express it — especially during a competition. Actress Angela Bassett found herself in that position during the 2023 Academy Awards when she was up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Some thought she was the front-runner for the award but, in what some call an upset, Jamie Lee Curtis took home the trophy for her turn in Everything Everywhere All at Once. At the time, many thought Bassett looked visibly upset on camera when she lost, and now the actress is admitting that she was disappointed because she felt she was deserving.
During a new interview for Town & Country, Bassett was asked about her reaction when she didn't win the big award. She admitted that she "found it interesting" that she couldn't express disappointment, and went on to elaborate...

Angela Bassett has garnered some very high praise for her acting, at one point garnering a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Academy Awards for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her on-screen reaction to Jamie Lee Curtis getting the win for Everything Everywhere All at Oncegarnered a lot of media attention at the time, as Bassett seemingly couldn't hide her disappointment.
Bassett reflected on the situation during a recent interview with Town & Country. On the show, when Curtis' win was announced, the reactions of the other nominees could be seen, varying from one end of the spectrum to the other. On one side, fellow Everything Everywhere All at Once star Stephanie Hsu took to her feet to scream in excitement when Curtis got the win. The other nominees, Hong Chau (The Whale) and Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) politely clapped and smiled.

Angela Bassett recently told Town & Country magazine that she was “deserving” of the best supporting actress Oscar for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Bassett was nominated in 2023 but lost to Jamie Lee Curtis for “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Her stoic reaction as Curtis’ name was called went viral on social media.
“I found it interesting,” Bassett said of the loss and the reaction that ensued. “Interesting that I wouldn’t be allowed to be disappointed at an outcome where I thought I was deserving.”
“I love applauding people,” she added. “But in that moment … No, I have put in: put in the time, put in good work over time. I didn’t think that was a gift. I thought it was a given.”
Bassett earned critical acclaim for her performance as Queen Ramonda in the “Black Panther” sequel, which made her the first actor be Oscar nominated from a Marvel movie.

When we discuss Hollywood flops, it's important to stress that the term "flop" has nothing to do with the quality of the film. It's strictly about the movie's extreme financial failure. Francis Ford Coppola's "One from the Heart" was a massive flop, but, over 40 years later, it's now considered by many to be an artistic triumph (something to keep in mind as we move further away from the wipeout of 2024's "Megalopolis"). Brian De Palma's "Casualties of War" was a costly bomb for the legendary filmmaker, but the movie received rave reviews at the time and still stands as one of the greatest Vietnam War films ever made. And while Michael Lehmann's "Hudson Hawk" might've thrown a dent into Bruce Willis' commercial reputation, people with exquisite taste have come to recognize its anarchic genius.
When a non-franchise movie flops, my initial instinct is to find a way to stick up for it,...

The historic drama series Outlander is currently airing its seventh season, with the finale set to air this week. The show has been one of the best and most consistently rated TV series in the past few years and the latest season has proved that it has passionate people behind it. The series is set to end with season 8 next year.
Outlander’s consistently high ratings have set it apart from other shows of the genre that had the hype but ultimately fizzled out. One of the biggest shows that had a terrible and legacy-ruining ending was HBO’s Game of Thrones, which also had a period fantasy setting and had incredible ratings in the initial seasons.

Critically acclaimed actor Brian Cox, who recently starred in HBO's Succession, called out several actors in his 2022 memoir Putting the Rabbit in the Hat. Some of the passages included references to Johnny Depp, Edward Norton, Steven Seagal, and Quentin Tarantino.
In a new interview with The Guardian, Cox admitted he upset several fellow actors over the years. In his memoir, he called Johnny Depp "so overblown, so overrated," which led to him turning down a role in The Pirates of the Caribbean. He also had other notes about fellow celebrities, as he called Steven Seagal, with whom he worked on 1996's The Glimmer Man "as ludicrous in real life as he appears on screen," noted Edward Norton is "a nice lad, but a bit of a pain in the arse because he fancies himself as a writer-director." He called Michael Caton-Jones, who directed him in Rob Roy, a "complete arsehole.

Plot: Follows an American couple taking their daughter Claire to her grandfather Lawrence’s grand hotel in Italy to tell her they’re breaking up. Claire insists on celebrating Christmas in August to bring the family together, leading to unexpected complications. Claire’s other grandparents arrive to join the festivities, bringing secrets and adding further intricacy.
Review: It is that time of year again as new Christmas movies are hitting screens big and small. Typically, unless it is a big studio production, we don’t cover a lot of holiday movies on this site as they can often feel like nothing more than a Hallmark or Lifetime original project. The new film A Sudden Case of Christmas is somewhere in the middle. Boasting the great Danny DeVito, A Sudden Case of Christmas also features Andie MacDowell and Wilmer Valderrama, as well as Lucy DeVito, the daughter of Danny and Rhea Perlman.

The possibility of The Perfect Couple season 2 gets a candid response from the showrunner. Based on Erin Hilderbrand's 2018 novel, The Perfect Couple is a blend of different tones, largely a murder mystery about a lavish wedding that gets interrupted when a dead body turns up on the day of the ceremony. But it's also a comedy about a rich family with a fair amount of secrets, with a game Perfect Couple cast that includes Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Eve Hewson, Billy Howle, Meghann Fahy, Donna Lynne Champlin, Jack Reynor, and Mia Issac.
In an interview with Town & Country, showrunner Jenna Lamia addressed whether the murder mystery could return, saying that it would depend on several factors such as whether the cast would be open to reuniting. Laima's full quote is below:

Yellowstone Season 5 focuses on Beth & Rip, the heart of the show, amidst ongoing drama and tension. Filming delay doesn't hinder compelling plot points for the couple, with hints at a happy ending. Beth's secrets may jeopardize her relationship with Rip, adding depth and uncertainty to their story.
Although Kevin Costner's departure from Yellowstone has taken the spotlight recently, what happens to Beth and Rip, John Dutton's daughter and ranch hand respectively, is season 5's most crucial story. Taylor Sheridan's beyond-popular modern-day Western, which centers on a Montana ranching family, is set to end with Costner's exit from the show. While Costner's patriarch is a key figure, the now-married couple are the real heart of Yellowstone. David E. Diano, a veteran camera operator with credits including Tombstone, The Fast and the Furious, Wedding Crashers and Spider-Man 3, has died. He was 71.
Diano died Jan. 22 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena of coronary issues after a battle with prostate cancer, his wife, still photographer Gemma Lamana, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Diano served as president of the Society of Camera Operators from 2003-04 before deciding not to run for a second term.
“To write that David was a one-of-a-kind friend to those of us who worked with him would be an understatement,” Soc historical chair Michael Frediani said in a statement. “His kindness, artistry and boyish smile endeared him to countess friends and fellow industry colleagues — and that is what set him apart from many,”
Diano shot 17 movies for cinematographer William Fraker, a six-time Oscar nominee, from 1983-2002. Those films included War Games (1983), Murphy’s Romance (1985), Baby Boom (1987), Memoirs of an Invisible Man...

After five seasons, the smash phenomenon Yellowstone will be coming to an end later this year. The decision to close out the show comes with the departure of series star Kevin Costner, who, last year, ultimately elected to leave the drama, presumably to put his efforts towards his new Western epic, Horizon: An American Saga.
It's sad to see America's favorite patriarchy come to an end, but it's been a wild ride, and the fun is only getting started. Last year, a new sequel series was announced, along with another prequel that follows the Dutton clan two decades after 1923. Taylor Sheridan is showing no signs of slowing down with his Duttonverse expansion, so fans can expect to get their cowboy fix for many more years.

Shondaland's Bridgerton captivated fans with searing romance and sizzling chemistry when it hit screens in 2020. After a highly successful second season with Kate and Anthony, fans are now waiting for the third to hit Netflix with bated breath. Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn's Regency romance novels of the same name, but Season 3 is based on the fourth book rather than the third from the series.
The show is known to take liberties with its source material in the previous two seasons. However, the love interests have remained the same as the Bridgerton books so far. Fans who can't wait long enough for every season to come out can look to the novels to find out who the Bridgerton siblings married throughout the years.

In 2016, 25 years after the publication of his novel "American Psycho," author Bret Easton Ellis wrote an article for Town & Country magazine reflecting on a question he was frequently asked: what would Patrick Bateman be doing now? In the mid-to-late '90s, Ellis thought that Bateman "would have been the founder of a number of dotcoms." Or, had the book been written in the decade leading up to 2016, "Bateman would have been working in Silicon Valley [...] palling around with Zuckerberg and dining at the French Laundry [...] wearing a Yeezy hoodie and teasing girls on Tinder."
The book is both very much of its time and also eerily prescient. It's easy to imagine Patrick Bateman as an influencer within TikTok's 'Hustle Culture,' working himself into a rage over other guys having more followers than him. As Ellis himself wrote:
"All the themes of the book still hold sway three decades later.

The real Bonnie and Clyde may have died in 1933, but the legend of the couple's crime spree lives on in the form of songs, stories, and one groundbreaking movie. Arthur Penn's "Bonnie and Clyde" took Hollywood by storm when it hit theaters in 1967, generating controversy for its on-screen violence and sensuality -- and kick-starting nationwide conversations about who deserves to be the subject of a movie. While film fans still talk about these topics today, the movie's brutal final shootout feels mild compared to modern blood-soaked movie scenes.
Still, "Bonnie and Clyde" is a fantastic film, thanks in large part to its great cast. Warren Beatty plays cocky Clyde Barrow to Faye Dunaway's initially innocent Bonnie Parker, while actors Michael J. Pollard, Gene Hackman, and Estelle Parsons round out the Barrow gang. A young Gene Wilder made his big screen debut as one of Clyde's hostages, while Denver...

Keri Russell is pretty recognizable. From the college drama series "Felicity" to FX's spy thriller "The Americans," not to mention a small but key role in "Mission: Impossible III," general audiences know her face. However, fans may not have recognized her in "Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Rise of Skywalker," where she always wore a mask. Though we see her eyes for a bit, that's all we get. If you recall, her character, Zorii Bliss, encountered our Resistance heroes on the planet Kijimi, while they were looking for Babu Frik (Shirley Henderson) to get information from inside C-3Po (Anthony Daniels). Zorii has a past with Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), both romantically and as a fellow spice runner. Though she initially threatens them at blaster point, Zorii ends up helping the Resistance, even turning up with Babu Frik in the battle of Exegol.

Exclusive: Article updated at 2:54Pm Screenings are being set up this week for streamers Amazon Prime Video, Apple and Netflix to check out and potentially acquire Warner Bros’ axed Looney Tunes movie Coyote vs. Acme after the studio’s phone ran off the hook the entire weekend from angry filmmakers and talent reps over their third feature film kill after Batgirl and Scoob Holiday Haunt!
The more egregious Hollywood sin with Coyote vs. Acme is that it’s a finished film was intended for a theatrical release, while the other two movies were still in the works.
Of those kicking the tires, even though no deals have been drafted, I hear Amazon is a leading contender given the fact that Courtenay Valenti, the Head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical for Amazon Studios and MGM, was a big champion and linchpin for the movie while she was President of Production...

To the music world, the power of Taylor Swift is nothing new. But this week, the sports world got a taste of just what the singer-songwriter and her Swifties can do.
After the “Cruel Summer” singer made an appearance at the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs game Sunday to support football star Travis Kelce, it sent her fans into a frenzy. Especially since the tight end has previously been open about having romantic feelings for Swift.
Though neither has confirmed their relationship status, that didn’t stop them from becoming the center of conversation across social media, sports outlets and more.
But the NFL wasn’t the only professional sports league talking about Swift. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said on Thursday’s episode of ESPN’s First Take that Swift should stop hanging out with Kelce so he can set her up with one of the players on his NBA team.

Feud season 2, titled "Capote vs. The Swans," focuses on the fallout between Truman Capote and a group of powerful women, exploring high society animosity. The upcoming season will dramatize Capote's betrayal of the women's trust when he published their secrets in a thinly veiled story in Esquire. With a talented cast and acclaimed filmmakers involved, the return of the FX anthology promises to be a big hit and worth the wait to conclude the year.
Feud season 2 reveals its first photos, along with a release window, as the anthology series is set to make a return six years after the premiere of its first installment. In movies, the word “bomb” has always meant two things, generally at the same time. The first and most important definition of bomb is that a movie has lost a disastrous amount of money. Movies, in general, can’t afford to do that — they’re too expensive to produce. Bombs happen, but as a business model they’re not sustainable. A movie that bombs commercially has never been something to write off as a trivial matter.
The second definition of bomb, which is linked to the first (though not automatically), is that a film is spectacularly bad. It is, of course, not axiomatic that a movie that bombs commercially has failed as a work of art. There are movies we think of as classics that crashed and burned at the box office — like “It’s a Wonderful Life” or “Blade Runner” or “Intolerance” or “The Long Goodbye.” It’s become almost...

If you're a "Yellowstone" fan, there's a good chance your favorite character might be Rip Wheeler, the tall, dark, and totally smoldering foreman at the Dutton ranch who is easily one of the dreamiest young men to grace the Paramount series. Turns out that, shocker, I'm not the only one who thinks this about Rip — and his real-life counterpart Cole Hauser was pretty surprised at the audience's loyalty and love for the rancher.
In fact, the well-known actor doesn't think the series' showrunner, Taylor Sheridan, saw it coming either. Hauser told Town & Country in a recent interview:
"I think it surprised Taylor too. It's definitely not something that was ever on the table, that we ever discussed. In fact, I think it was quite the opposite. [Taylor] was like, 'Oh man, people are gonna think you're f***ing nuts. I wrote this scene, the way you kill this guy or burn this guy,...

All good things must come to an end, and it looks like that's going to be the case for "Ted Lasso" on Apple TV+ after the conclusion of its in-progress third season. But it's certainly better to let something end on its own terms rather than drag it out for far too long. Fans will still have something special to take away from the experience, as will star Juno Temple, who plays fan-favorite Keeley Jones on the show. Temple actually earned some real-life benefits from playing the part, including gaining some insight into her own career.
Speaking with Town & Country, Temple was asked about how the role of Keeley has actually impacted her life. In response, the actress explained that her time on the show provided some incredibly valuable insight into both her personal and professional lives:
"She's definitely taught me more about being kinder to myself. She's got such a light about her.

This post contains spoilers for "Ted Lasso" season 3.
Roy and Keeley are no more. The "Ted Lasso" power couple spent the first two seasons of the series falling in love, only to part ways thanks to what basically amounts to scheduling conflicts hinted at in the show's season 2 finale — they're both in a period of career growth, which means there's no time to be together. The news that they split was not well-received by fans of the grumpy-and-sunshine couple, and Roy's niece, Phoebe, did not take it particularly well either. Yet if you ask the show's cast, no one took it harder than Roy himself, actor and series writer Brett Goldstein.
"There are no Roy/Keeley stans out there who are upset as Brett Goldstein, the biggest Roy/Keeley stan of all," Goldstein's co-star and series co-creator Brendan Hunt told the Today show in the wake of the surprising...

Kieran Culkin said in a new Esquire digital cover story that Jeremy Strong’s acting process was never affected by various criticisms made about his Method acting, most notably by his “Succession” cast members in an infamous New Yorker profile published in December 2021.
“It’s hard for me to actually describe his process, because I don’t really see it,” Culkin told The New Yorker at the time. “He puts himself in a bubble….The way Jeremy put it to me is that, like, you get in the ring, you do the scene, and at the end each actor goes to their corner. I’m like, ‘This isn’t a battle. This is a dance.’”
Regarding Strong’s self-isolation process, Culkin added, “That might be something that helps him. I can tell you that it doesn’t help me.”

Brian Cox’s hatred of Method acting has gone so viral in recent weeks that he parodied himself during a recent visit to “The Tonight Show” to promote the upcoming fourth and final season of HBO’s “Succession.” Host Jimmy Fallon asked Cox about all the media attention surrounding his hatred of Method acting, to which the actor responded, “Well you know, Jimmy, I’ve been a little harsh.”
“I’ve been a little harsh on it,” Cox continued. “I’m sorry about that… in fact, I’ve been trying to set the record straight in a MasterClass series of acting that I’ve been doing. Well actually, I brought a clip. I think this more eloquently explains my feelings about acting. Can we show it?”
Fallon threw to a clip of Brian Cox in a fake MasterClass video.
