Sonia Braga in Dancin' Days (1978)

Trivia

Dancin' Days

Edit
First TV project of Lauro Corona.
Original last chapters aired in 1979, in Brazil.
Even though there were fixed sets for 'disco 17' and subsequently 'Dancin' Days', several scenes were recorded at the then famous Hippopotamus nightclub in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro.
Director Daniel Filho's main inspiration for the story's central backdrop was La Fièvre du samedi soir (1977), since in the original synopsis it had been set in a sophisticated restaurant, where people met.
The Public Entertainment Censorship Board ('DCDP'), the official censorship body during the Brazilian military regime between 1972 and 1988, demanded that the telenovela be aired after 10pm and found 'inappropriate' that the plot addressed topics such as "a family breakdown generated by the separation of couples" and "the situation of free love", since the protagonist was a single mother. Twenty-five episodes were censored.
