Willimon’s upcoming series will mark the first television adaptation of the board game, which squares player-controlled armies against one another on a political map of the world in a war for territory. Casting and plot details for the “Risk” adaptation, as well as a release date, are still in the works.

The Action Man movie is on like Donkey Kong, with The Muppets director James Bobin set to helm the project. The movie was first talked about as a movie back in 2012 when Emmett/Furla Films secured the rights from Hasbro. Additionally, movies for Monopoly and Hungry Hungry Hippos were to be made, but none of those projects ever got off of the ground. Monopoly was supposed to be the first of the Hasbro movies to start production in 2013, but was later announced again in 2015.

Action Man is being written by Paddington 2 scribe Simon Farnaby, which is promising for the project along with James Bobin. The solid partnership will bring England's answer to America's G.I. Joe to the big screen. No release date has been set and the movie is said to be in the very early stages of pre-production. It will be interesting to see what kind of demand...

Paramount Players have teamed up with Hasbro for an all-new action hero feature – one that no one asked for – based on Hasbro’s toy Action Man. They have set Alice Through the Looking Glass director, James Bobin, to take the helm.

The project is set to be a bit of a British affair as Paddington’s Simon Farnaby has also been hired to pen the screenplay. Hasbro will produce.

Action Man is an action figure launched in Britain in 1966 by Palitoy as a licensed copy of Hasbro’s American “movable fighting man” G.I. Joe.

Action Man was originally produced and sold in the United Kingdom and Australia by Palitoy Ltd of Coalville, Leicestershire from 1966 until 1984 (Palitoy also offered sub-licences to various toy manufacturers in various markets).

Paramount will develop a movie based on the Action Man line of action figures. While Action Man might not ring any bells for readers in the United States, the action figure line is largely considered the United Kingdom’s version of G.I. Joes. James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) is slated to direct the movie with a script from Simon Farnaby (Paddington 2).

The Action Man line was originally released in 1966 by Hasbro. The figures made their debut in Australia and the United Kingdom. Action Man has made its way to the United States from time to time, typically as a cross promotion with G.I. Joe figures.

Hasbro is moving forward with their feature film adaptation of Action Man at Paramount Pictures. According to Deadline, they've hired James Bobin (The Muppets, Alice Through the Looking Glass) to direct the movie. 

For those of you not familiar with Action Man, it is a military action figure line that is basically the British version of G.I. Joe that was launched in the 60s. There are no details on the story, but Simon Farnaby (Paddington 2) is writing the script.

I was familiar with Action Man when I was growing up, but living in the U.S., I obviously preferred G.I. Joe. This will definitely be a different kind of project for Bobin, who also worked on Da Ali G Show and Flight of the Concords, but I hope that he ends up making a great movie!

Funnyman Seth Rogen hates the idea of becoming a Hollywood superstar - insisting fans seeing him as a sex symbol makes him "feel sick".

The writer/actor has moved away from his comedy roots with a turn in upcoming superhero movie The Green Hornet - but has turned down a string of other lucrative offers which all promised to promote him to the A-list.

Rogen insists he will never abandon funny films to become an all-star action hero and puts his decision down to his disgust at the excesses of the showbiz lifestyle.
