Wexler was probably killed not long after Reese (Loretta Devine) entered his secret room in his office. He was probably killed with the ax that Brenda (the murderer) planted in order to frame Wexler for her killing spree.

Various legends are mentioned in the film, but here are the core ones for the murders: 1. Michelle Mancini (Natasha Gregson Wagner) was killed by "The Killer in the Backseat", 2. Damon Brooks (Joshua Jackson) is strangled by a rope attached to his car when Natalie (Alicia Witt) tries to drive away in a variation of "The Boyfriend's Death" (however Damon and Natalie weren't dating), 3. Prior to the film's events, Brenda (Rebecca Gayheart)'s boyfriend was killed by Natalie and Michelle by "The Gang Initiation" legend where gang members would drive w/o their headlights on and would chase down any car who flashed their beams to warn them, 4. Natalie's roommate, Tosh (Danielle Harris), is strangled and has her wrists slit with a message reading: "aren't You Glad You Didn't Turn on the Light", 5. Dean Adams (John Neville) has his ankles slashed and he is then run over by his car on the tire spikes ala "Slasher under the Car", 6. Parker Riley (Michael Rosenbaum ) receives a call in the house ala "The Babysitter" legend and finds his dog in the microwave, but is murdered by the "Pop Rocks" legend when Pop Rocks and drain cleaner are poured down his throat although it is unclear if his stomach burst or what exactly happened, 7. Professor Wexler (Robert Englund) was probably murdered with an ax in his office at some unknown point and the legend used to murder him is unclear, 8. Sasha Thomas (Tara Reid) is murdered at her radio station by an ax with Natalie as a witness out in the hallway as a reference to the "Roller Coaster Of Love" murder legend, 9. The janitor who rescues Natalie is killed by the "Gang Initiation" legend

Natalie and Paul survive Brenda's attempt to kill them in the same way she killed Michelle. What their ultimate fate after they survive that night is unclear. A new student at Pendleton in the closing scene mentions that Natalie was his former roommate's cousin which could hint Natalie is still alive. Brenda is shown to have survived at the end so she could possibly have tracked them down and killed them, but there is no clear proof.
