Statues in the cosmos

Another animated painting film by Sabin Balasa, I liked this one better than the others I've seen from him. Fascinations is representative of his signature style, blending archetypal figures and metaphysical themes with a cosmic-romantic atmosphere. We see ancient Greek statue-like figures in symbolic scenes-combined with surrealist motifs from earlier decades-that create unique settings when brought together. The music in this short isn't as unsettling as in some of his other works. Ultimately, though, it still feels like an art installation brought to life through animated cinematographic techniques such as limited animation, with repeated and cyclical motion and narrowly focused action within a static environment to reanimate paintings.

a love story

A young man. A red hair young woman. Their love.

But she preffers leave. And he runs to find her, ignoring the dangers, death, his run being a sort of flying, her vehicle being a red train or tramway.

Important is the fact then they are together in final, against distabce, her metamorphose in a rose , his sleep near strange animals.

Obvious, old Romanian fairy tales are the source of inspiration for story. And exactly this reference gives to short animation the fair dose of seduction.

Difficult to not like this new Sabin Balasa animation , especially for the flavours of the lost time in which normality, poetry were no so easy crafted but high necessary in a pretty innocent society.
