Butler, who scuffled in 2012 with films like "Chasing Mavericks" and "Playing the Field," looks to return with a vengeance in "Olympus Has Fallen," which comes from director Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day"). The film focuses on a former Secret Service agent (Butler) who must save the president (Aaron Eckhart) after the White House is overrun with terrorists. Morgan Freeman and Angela Bassett co-star as government officials trying to keep the country running.

Side Effects, the provocative new thriller by director Steven Soderbergh, just hit theaters on Friday, and Wamg was at the film’s press conference. At the end of last month, Jane Levy, star of The Evil Dead remake, revealed how she had always wanted to play a psychopath in an interview where she described her role as “the perfect job.” Original Evil Dead-ers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell reunite for this project by Sony Pictures, Filmdistrict and Ghost House Pictures.

Tapert described the trio’s intentions for the remake:

Exclusive: Following on the heels of the exit of veteran distribution executive Bob Berney, FilmDistrict CEO Peter Schlessel has made alternative distribution arrangements for the company’s 2012 film releases. Deadline has learned that Schlessel just closed a 3-picture distribution deal with Tom Ortenberg’s Open Road, and he has arranged for several other pictures to be released through Sony.

Open Road will release Escape From M.S. One (formerly called Lock-Out), the Luc Besson-produced sci-fi actioner that stars Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace and will be released April 20, 2012. Open Road will also release the Red Dawn remake that is slated for November 2, 2012. The third film hasn’t been firmed yet and there could be more business with Open Road down the line.
