    Clever, dry wit

I found this film to be very enjoyable. The characters were well developed, and their interactions were interesting. Etsushi Toyokawa is very charming as Aikawa, the swindler. The humor is not so much "laugh out loud" funny as it is pleasantly amusing and engaging. It is kind of like "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" without the slapstick, done in Japanese. Unfortunately, it is difficult to track down a copy of this film with English subtitles in my region. But it is worth seeing if you can find it.

    So-so

This is mainly a story about the interaction between three guys. One is a sponger and trickster, the second is a former fellow student who is now a contract computer programmer, the third is the programmer's boss. The film takes a lightly satirical look at greed in modern Japanese society. We watched it half-way through and didn't bother with the rest. There were a few slow-burn laughs, but not enough was going on to hold our interest.
