A star-studded lineup of talent returned for the new season of Off Script With The Hollywood Reporter.
The Emmy-nominated series debuted new episodes in May and June on IFC that were available to stream the same day on AMC+.
Off Script With The Hollywood Reporter showcases five categories of Emmy contenders, featuring themed episodes for Drama Actress, Drama Actor, Comedy Actress, Comedy Actor and Stand-Up. Moderated by THR’s Lacey Rose and Mikey O’Connell, the series is known for its sharp, unfiltered roundtable format, delivering honest, insightful and often hilarious conversations about the craft and chaos of working in television. But what truly sets Off Script apart is its unmatched ability to curate a who’s who of Hollywood who rarely, if ever, share the same stage.
Closely timed with each episode’s premiere, THR released digital covers, in-depth features, and full video cuts of each roundtable on THR.

We all need a good laugh, don't we? What is laughter but a release of stress? We know life can be full of bad stuff. Thankfully, we have professionals who can help with that.
And I am not talking about therapists. Mental health professionals are needed and helpful, but we can augment that with stand-up comedians. They will take your mind off things for an hour or so if they are good at their work.
Coming in May are two comedians at the top of their games. They approach comedy differently, but there are lots of hidden similarities. Ultimately, both are going to make you giggle.

Although many of her comedian peers have been known to cry “cancel culture,” Sarah Silverman has no problem admitting when she was wrong.
The Golden Globe-nominated comedian recently expressed regret over using racial slurs and blackface in her breakout Comedy Central series The Sarah Silverman Program, which ran from 2007 to 2010.
“I felt like the temperature of the world around me at the time was ‘We are all liberal so we can say the n-word. We aren’t racist, so we can say this derogatory stuff,'” she explained to Rolling Stone. “I was playing a character that was arrogant and ignorant, so I thought it was Ok. Looking back, my intentions were always good, but they were fucking ignorant.”
Silverman has previously apologized for her racial comedy while hosting her Hulu late-night talk show I Love You, America (2017-’18), which she also used as a platform to apologize to Britney Spears...

Netflix is a bit light on the quantity of new releases this week, but certainly not on the quality. A gripping sports documentary, several great comedy series, and one of the top family movies of the decade all arrive this week.
Listen fam, Netflix isn't going to have an amazing lineup of new releases every week. It just isn't possible, we all know that. There are a lot of competing streaming services out there - even if some of them can't keep the same name for a year at a time.
What's next for Max after HBO Max? HBO? Home? Perhaps Bo would be apt. It does describe the stench of the corporate offices that dumped Looney Tunes as too costly, but will now have Batman shilling for dishwashing liquid, or dog food, or whatever makes them a buck.
But let's focus on Netflix. They can't bring in all the best new shows every time,...

When Netflix does things, it tends to do them in a very big way. And that certainly applies to the streamer’s campaign plans for this Emmy season, which were shared on Thursday.
The company, via its Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney host John Mulaney, announced that during the two weeks between Saturday, May 17, and Monday, June 2, it will host Fysee LA, a festival for which it will take over theaters and iconic locations throughout the city of Los Angeles in order to bring together TV Academy members and Netflix’s Emmy-contending talent.
The fest’s events — taking place everywhere from Santa Monica, Hollywood and Pasadena to Eagle Rock, The Valley and South Central — will support local businesses impacted by the recent wildfires.
Among those set to make appearances: Mulaney, Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This), Simone Biles (Simone Biles Rising), Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This), Ted Danson (A Man on the Inside...

Slayer are reigning once again, as the thrash legends played their first concert in five years on Sunday night (September 22nd) at Riot Fest in Chicago.
The headlining performance at Douglass Park featured a career-spanning, 20-song set that didn’t stray too far from Slayer’s setlists on their farewell tour in 2019.

After kicking off with the ominous “South of Heaven,” the band immediately delved into Reign in Blood with a rendition of deep cut “Reborn” — the first performance of the song since 2014. From there, each era of Slayer was represented, highlighted by staples such as “Repentless,” “Seasons in the Abyss,” “Hell Awaits,” and “213” (for the first time since 1998).
A final four-song volley ended the set climatically: “Mandatory Suicide” into “Raining Blood,” “Black Magic,” and a finale of “Angel of Death.”

It’s the first day of May, and Netflix is already knocking it out of the park with a big content drop to keep you busy while you’re stuck inside. Tons of great new movies and shows have landed on the service today, including plenty of wonderful classics you’re going to want to check out.
Perhaps most notable is the inclusion of Back to the Future and Back to the Future Part II, which will be joining the third film to round out the trilogy. This time-traveling classic would make for excellent weekend family viewing alongside Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and its more modern adaptation, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
While those films are suitable for families, you can rest assured that Netflix has you covered on children-specific content, too. Your little ones will be happy to see multiple Thomas & Friends titles and the animated sequel Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa,...

With a budget of $1.5 million, 2017 Best Picture winner “Moonlight” cost less than a 30-second ad during the Oscars (reported price: $2.2 million). And, among the category’s 89 winners, it stands as the lowest-budgeted film in the Academy Awards’ history.
To determine the 10 least expensive Best Picture winners, we looked back at each year, researched reported budgets, and then calculated them at 2017 dollar values. Although independent films have dominated the Oscars for the last decade, the only indie to make the cut from that period was “Crash.” Nor did Woody Allen’s “Annie Hall,” or some black-and-white studio classics like “Casablanca” or “The Lost Weekend.”
The 10 straddle almost every decade of the Oscars and come from either independent producers or smaller distributors (four of the 10 were released by United Artists).
For comparison, the most expensive film to win remains “Titanic;” its adjusted budget was $300 million more than “Moonlight.” That total dwarfs the...

Albert Pyun is extremely happy with how his sword and sorcery epic, Tales of an Ancient Empire, is shaping up. Below are some words he recently published on his official site:
"It’s clear to me that Tales of an Ancient Empire is by far the best film I have ever made. Yeah, I know I’ve said that before because each film I’ve made had some aspect, maybe it was a performance, a camera move, a turn of character, but there was always something, some moment, big or small that made it my best at the time. But looking at Tales from all sides and being as objective as I can possibly be, each moment of the film, consistently represents my best work.
How I know this as being true is that it doesn’t even seem like one of my films. No moment of cringe; no lapse in logic or sanity,...
