Jennifer Love Hewitt shares a new glimpse at the production of I Know What You Did Last Summer's reboot in a new behind-the-scenes video. The upcoming 2025 slasher horror reboot returns to the world and characters of the 1997 movie, picking up from the events of its 1998 theatrically-released sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Alongside Hewitt, I Know What You Did Last Summer's reboot will see the return of Freddie Prinze Jr. to reprise the role of survivor Ray Bronson.
As filming continues on the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, Hewitt took to Instagram to share a new video from the set. While she cannot be seen directly on-screen in the video, the clip sees someone use a clapper board for the movie that seemingly affirms the reboot's title, all while set to a rendition of Julie James' theme. However, Hewitt's caption states that "it was...

There’s a new sequel to the 1997 slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) and its 1998 follow-up I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (watch that one Here) coming our way from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge). Robinson’s Do Revenge star Camila Mendes (Riverdale) was attached to star in the film at one time, but had to drop out due to scheduling issues with the Masters of the Universe movie, where she plays the Teela character. Mendes was replaced by Chase Sui Wonders (Bodies Bodies Bodies) – and while speaking to People, Wonders said the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel is going to be “really fun.”
Robinson is directing the film from a screenplay by Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.), which has received some rewrites from Robinson and journalist Sam Lansky. McKendrick told Collider a while back that the new...

The I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel is highly anticipated among fans for a few reasons, not the least of which is the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt, who portrayed heroine Julie James in the first two films. Hewitt's return was long reported, but it took a bit of time for the news to become official, which caused some to worry that a deal couldn't be reached to bring her back. Nevertheless, a deal was made, and now Hewitt's return is being teased in a set image featuring a perfect callback to the 1997 horror hit that started it all.
Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson took to Instagram to tease fans about Hewitt's return with a behind-the-scenes image from the set of the I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel, which features a piece of mail addressed to one Julie James. Eagle-eyed fans of the franchise will...

That doesn’t mean that fans aren’t eager to see their characters again anyway, and Robinson has taken to social media to tease the return of Julie James. Robinson shared an image that shows the character has received a piece of mail in the new film – and the handwriting on the envelope is reminiscent of the notes Julie was receiving from a hook-wielding killer nearly thirty years ago.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Hollywood Interview (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Jennifer Love Hewitt is peeling back the curtain on Hollywood’s dark past, revealing the disturbing way she was sexualized as a teenager in the spotlight.
At just the tender age of 18, Hewitt rose to prominence after starring in the 1997 hit slasher film ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ and its sequel, ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer,’ but the attention she received was far from glamorous.
Instead of focusing on her talent, the media became obsessed with her looks, often reducing her to a “sex symbol” before she even understood what that meant.
Yeah, I get on this huge stage in front of the world every day. It doesn’t even bother me. Here’s Jennifer Love Hewitt pic.twitter.com/Fopf1mvgza

Danny Cannon has racked up a lot of directing credits over the last 35 years, including credits on episodes of CSI, CSI: Miami, Dark Blue, Nikita, Shameless, Gotham, Pennyworth, and Gotham Knights, among others – but he’s best known for making a couple of feature films back in the 1990s: the poorly received Sylvester Stallone comic book adaptation Judge Dredd and the slasher sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (which is indeed canon to the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel that’s being made). Now, Deadline reports that Cannon has signed on to direct a high-concept horror thriller called Obey, which Altitude will be presenting to potential buyers at the European Film Market.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and Judge Dredd director Danny Cannon has signed on to helm Obey, Deadline reports.
Written by Brandon & Kurtis Birtell, it follows an estranged couple who must learn to put their differences aside in order to save their son from a deranged home invader.
The masked intruder, known as Flip Face, orders them to “obey” if they ever want to see their son again in the high-concept horror thriller.
The film will be produced by Ross Dinerstein (The Void) for Campfire Studios, Josh Kesselman (1922) and Michael Sugar (Spotlight) for Sugar23, and Lindsay Macadam (Brain On Fire) for Great Pacific Media, which is providing production services for the project.
Altitude will be shopping Obey at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.
Outside of features, Cannon has directed the pilot episodes of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Gotham,” “Pennyworth,” “Gotham Knights,” and “Nikita.”

Editor’s Note: this hot take isn’t meant to be the final word on the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel. We’re looking forward to it here on the site, and this article is meant to start a fun debate on a movie that could be great – or not.
Can stop this absurd notion that Julie James is as important to the horror world as Sidney Prescott? In my opinion, she’s hardly even important in her own (short) franchise. It feels like an insult to a character that has been put through the ringer for over 30 years like Sidney. Especially when Julie’s exploits took place over just one year (1997-1998) and was mostly self-inflicted. Maybe don’t dump the body of the guy you and your friends murdered. Sidney was simply a victim of something she couldn’t control (her...

Jennifer Love Hewitt discussed the wildly inappropriate comments some men would say to her after she appeared as a teenager in the classic horror film, I Know What You Did Last Summer. A loose adaptation of the late author Lois Duncan’s 1973 young adult novel of the same name, Hewitt portrayed Julie James in the 1997 film and its follow-up, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998). The actress spoke about dealing with those troubling sexual comments while appearing on Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast. Hewitt said:
"In my 30s, I sort of went back and looked at that time again, and I was like, 'Oh my god!' There were grown men talking to me at 16 about my breasts openly on a talk show — and people were laughing about it [...] Like, I really didn’t take that part of it in, but in hindsight, it was very strange to...

Celebrity culture comes with its fair share of public brutality in the form of obsessive fan mobs and relentless paparazzi. The inability of media to separate a star’s personal and professional spheres has troubled almost every actor in the industry. Jennifer Love Hewitt, too, has had to face similar struggles, even more so after being sexualized as a teenager in Hollywood.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is about to get a new sequel with a new cast and its two main legacy characters, through which it’s officially fixing the second movie’s ending, but risks repeating a huge legacy sequel mistake. Despite some failures, the horror genre continues to thrive with reboots and legacy sequels, through which it has brought back to life franchises that had seemingly ended years ago. Among the most exciting additions to this trend is I Know What You Did Last Summer, which is returning after a forgotten direct-to-video sequel in 2006 and a failed TV show in 2021.
Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie follows the blueprint of legacy sequels with a new, younger cast and the main characters from the first two movies: Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr) and Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt). Plot details about...

After failing to meet box office expectations, Max and Sam Eggers' directorial debut, The Front Room, has become a streaming success. When the psychological horror thriller landed in theaters in September, it was projected to gross $5 million but fell a bit flat, bringing in barely its supposed budget, $3.2 million; it also became A24's lowest-rated movie of 2024 on Rotten Tomatoes. The critically divisive film (which currently holds a 42% rating on the review site) now sits at the number two spot in Max's most streamed movies, topped only by Clint Eastwood's Juror #2.
Based on the 2016 short story of the same name by Susan Hill, The Front Room stars Brandy Norwood as Belinda, a pregnant woman whose life is thrown into disarray when her aging mother-in-law, Solange (Kathryn Hunter), moves in with Belinda and her husband. Solange's arrival creates tension; her eccentric behavior and weird demands push Belinda beyond her limits.

As good as 2024 has been for horror, there’s always a ying to any yang, and the other side of the coin was pretty rough. While we saw some major bombs in the way of The Crow and disappointing box office performances via Cuckoo, We’re talking about the truly bad. And wouldn’t you know it, this year most of them have been produced by one company. Blumhouse. I’m not sure why it is that they’ve seemingly become completely creatively bankrupt but I’ve experienced it in the theaters. Hewitt later went into greater detail about the idea of possibly returning to the franchise, which shot her to fame as a teen star after starring in the original 1997 film. “It has only been scheduling and me trying to make sure that...

Beef between celebrities is certainly not uncommon in the entertainment industry. While some may openly talk about their distaste for each other, others leave room for speculation. Now, netizens are noticing a possible underlying beef between I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) actresses, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

The slasher film follows the story of a group of young adults who accidentally commit a murder and decide to form a pact to bury the news. However, their past catches up to them rather quickly. Considered to be a timeless addition to the genre, I Know What You Did Last Summer is currently working on a reboot. Although, it looks like the two stars might not be too stoked to possibly be working with each other. Or at least that’s what the Internet believes.

One of A24's new horror releases this year is scheduled to make its official streaming debut this January. It's the psychological horror film The Front Room starring Brandy Norwood, and it's coming to Max early next month. It will debut on the popular streaming platform on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. Then, the next day, it will make its linear debut on HBO at 8:00 p.m. Et.
Like many other horror movies, The Front Room is based on another piece of work. It's based on Susan Hill's short story of the same name. Creative brother duo, Max and Sam Eggers, wrote the script for the film as well as directed it.
A24 released The Front Room in theaters back in September, and sadly, the overall critic and audience response wasn't too great. What's even worse is that it didn't do well at the box office. The horror flick generated very low box office numbers,...

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) star Sarah Michelle Gellar admitted that she “got in a little bit of trouble” after taking a photo on the set of the horror film’s long-awaited legacy sequel. Gellar, who played Helen Shivers in the original slasher flick, took the picture the day before Thanksgiving while visiting her husband Freddie Prinze Jr. on set. Gellar explained her faux pas during an interview on Live with Kelly and Mark by saying:
“You would think that being in my position, I know what rules are on sets when they say closed sets, you know. So, my husband’s [Freddie Prinze Jr.] starring in the movie, and it was Thanksgiving, so I took our kids to Australia to go out there and visit him. The latest installment in the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise will finally be able to explain the cliffhanger ending from the series' second movie. The canonical status of I Know What You Did Last Summer's reboot has been confirmed. The new movie will follow up on the 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. It will ignore the 2006 film I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, which featured a completely different cast and was poorly received.
As with any reboot or sequel, I Know What You Did Last Summer risks misinterpreting the previous movies, which have gained a cult following over the past 26 years. Sony Pictures has announced that cameras are now officially rolling on the I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel, and we have a first behind-the-scenes image featuring a familiar-looking hook.
Ben Willis, aka The Fisherman, was the seemingly unkillable villain of the original trilogy. Believed to be a normal man who set out to take revenge on the group of teens who left him for dead in the first movie, he survived all manner of carnage in the two sequels with zero explanation.
Whether this will turn out to be Willis or a copycat killer remains to be seen.
The studio has also confirmed that both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are set to reprise their respective roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson, but there's no mention of Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Original I Know What You Did Last Summer stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. now look set to reprise their respective roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson for the upcoming legacy sequel, and co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar might just be joining them.
The Buffy The Vampire Slayer star recently reminded an interviewer that her return was highly unlikely since her character, beauty queen Helen Shivers, was killed off in the first movie, but fans are now speculating that she might be set to reprise her role after all thanks to the following photo Gellar shared to Instagram.
While it's entirely possible Gellar has a role in the movie (and not necessarily the late miss Shivers), it's far from the only explanation for her presence on set. Gellar is married to Prinze Jr., and is also close friends with director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

Rumors are it’s going to be a wilder ride this round in. In other words, Jigsaw ain’t got nothing on this.

Jack Blacks upcoming 2024 movie is the Christmas film Dear Santa, through which hes paying off an unholy obsession that started with his project Tenacious D. With his comedic style and sense of humor, Jack Black has become one of the most beloved comedians and actors of his generation. Blacks filmography has covered a bit of everything, including rom-coms like The Holiday and even slashers with I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, but hes best known (and praised) for his comedy projects.
In 1994, Black took his comedic skills to another level with the band Tenacious D, which he formed with fellow actor and comedian Kyle Gass. The comedy rock duo has found great success with its unique style and how it has branched out to other media.
