Days of Our Lives’ Mary Beth Evans and Stephen Nichols Name Their Favorite Storyline

From 1986 to 1990, Steve and Kayla were a Days of Our Lives supercouple. That is, until Lawrence Alamain planted a bomb on a boat intended to kill Bo. Steve survived, so Lawrence poisoned him, and he seemingly died. He turned up alive in 2006, but forces would constantly try to pull the couple apart over the years. It’s 36 years later, and they remain a supercouple. Their portrayers recently opened up about which one of their wild stories they liked best.

Stephen Nichols (Steve) and Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) spoke to Soap Opera Digest about some great moments in Steve and Kayla’s decades-long relationship. Nichols recalled the story in which the villain Harper (Joseph Campanella) attacked Kayla, causing her to go deaf. After an attempted surgery to restore her hearing, she also became mute.
