When only one twin is on screen, Glória Pires plays either Ruth or Raquel. When the twins appear together on screen, Graziela de Laurentis stands in for Pires in either role. Laurentis later had a cameo as a woman impersonating Pires' character in Belíssima (2005). She is also featured in the opening sequence of La beauté du diable (1997), another successful remake starring Pires.
At the time of production, Glória Pires's daughters Cleo and Anttónia were 8 years old and only 4 months old respectively. She would have a hard time arranging her filming schedule with looking after the girls.
